Beach Lawns is a beautiful home in a stunning location, overlooking the beachfront of Weston-Super-Mare.

It’s the team, who are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents, which make this home stand out. The highly experienced staff provide residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, they also provide respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance.

The home is thriving, with so many activities to enjoy, from bespoke, one-to-one sessions, to fabulous group activities. One of the residents runs his own quiz, there’s karaoke, dancing, crafts, cake decorating and games galore.

The team are passionate about exploring the life histories of their residents and finding out what brings them joy, so they can enrich their lives. One resident recently marked his 106th birthday with an interview with the BBC on his miraculous survival when his plane crashed into the sea.   

The environment at Beach Lawns is stunning, with beautiful bedrooms with ensuite walk-in wet rooms, spacious lounge areas, many of which have period features, and a hair salon, for regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

The gardens are a wonderful place to relax, with a sun terrace and direct private access to the neighbouring Clarence Park. This summer the residents have even been growing their own produce.

The local community are embraced into life in the home, with regular Holy Communion and visitors – and the residents love their regular trips to the Salvation Army.

The team, many of whom have been with the home for over ten years, champion the residents and their loved ones to have a very active role to play in how their home is run. Resident ambassadors love to welcome new residents and their families, as well as providing feedback on everything from the activities to the menus.

In the dining rooms they enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals, with home baking every day for afternoon tea.

I believe that the standard of care at Beach Lawns is extremely high, but of course, I have not been able to visit my mother properly since she was taken-in in September last year. It is, therefore, impossible to gain an accurate picture of how things are done there. However, my telephone conversations
with the staff are always very helpful and they all appear to be very attentive and kind!
My comments below are, consequently, based on the feeling I have regarding the care and not on actual experience!

My dad was brought here at the young age of 65 with a palliative condition. He received the most wonderful care and his death here was dignified. The nurses and the carers were outstanding and it isn't just a job for them, they really do go above and beyond. During a covid lockdown, they ensured that
my dads immediate family could find a way to say goodbye. The care Dad received was adapted to his needs, as he was quite young and independent. His condition deteriorated quickly and the care/nursing staff adapted their way of working.
The meals looked fabulous (Dad certainly enjoyed them!!), he requested lots of coffee and always received one with a smile and the staff took the time to talk to him and get to know him.

I would like to thank the home and its staff for all the ongoing care my Mum is receiving. She is not always the easiest person to care for. The home is always very clean and tidy and my Mum clean and well-fed. A few trips out would be the only thing that my Mum would like more of. Thanks.

Despite lockdown and being isolated, staff have still managed to be attentive and keep my mother happy. The care home is good at keeping residents informed as well as keeping families up to date. Residents are well cared for at all times.

My Mum joined the care home a week before lockdown. She has dementia so was confused and distressed. The carers phoned me to talk to her to help her but they also talked to me to reassure me that most of the time she was happy. No matter who picks up the phone, they know my Mum and from the beginning
have treated her like one of their own family. She is now settled and happy and I don't get the frantic phone calls anymore. I cannot praise or thank all the staff enough for taking such care of my Mum.

Mum is very happy with her care in every aspect. She joins in activities which are well planned and varied. Staff is excellent and caring, ensuring dignity and support with Mum's dementia. The atmosphere is happy and all rooms are clean and well decorated.

The Beach Lawns have been amazing with helping mum settle in following a long stay in hospital. During the pandemic the staff made mum feel most welcome and mum is very much enjoying it there. The food is fantastic and the care home takes pride in events such as the Queens Birthday which mum enjoyed.
All the effort the staff put into these events clearly make the residents happy and make this care home a place you would want to stay.

My mother has been a resident of Beach Lawns for several years. I have found the level of care to be wonderful. Mum is really loved and I have nothing but praise for the staff. They have been marvellous during this very difficult period, and always keep me informed. Excellent.

During the period of this review we have experienced the Coronavirus pandemic. This is a real threat and vital danger to the residents of Beach Lawns who are sold and have many underlying conditions.
The home was managed excellently during this time. Understandingly and correctly the home was barred
to visitors in good time and serious infection was prevented. Where residents or carers were tested positive, they were catered for with extreme care and thanks to experienced and excellent management, all survived the vital threat for which we are all grateful.
Contact was allowed during lockdown and, although she resides at the top of the building, the carers happily carried the telephone to my wife and we were able to cheer each other up considerably throughout these trying months. I was extremely grateful to management and carers for their patience and tolerance of my calls.
Otherwise, my wife and her needs are attended to with great care, courtesy and sensitivity.

This is a wonderful, caring, helpful and welcoming home. My son and I felt comfortable from the moment that we walked in to view the home to see if it was suitable for my wife. A lovely lady took us to the dining room where we had a long talk about the home and the facilities it offered. We were then
given a tour and shown the room that was available. We had looked at another home earlier but it didn't feel right, here we both felt welcome and that my wife would be well cared for. She moved in the next day. Unfortunately, she was only there for five days. During that time the staff were wonderfully caring and professional, always having time to talk to us. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. When my wife died they were all very supportive and made a very difficult time more bearable. Had she lived longer, we both would have been very happy for her to stay at this amazing home from home. It is a magnificent building filled with magnificent staff. We thoroughly recommend it.

When your husband and self are separated, it is traumatic and heartbreaking, however, the staff and management at Beach Lawns made this transition as painless as it is possible. They continue to support, not only my husband but myself as well and continue to care for both of us. It was a good day when

All the staff in the home - management, admin, carers and nurses are very friendly, helpful and take really good care of my dad. My mum was also a resident in the home but sadly died earlier this month. Since then, the carers have shown great compassion to my father and helped him through a very distressing
time. The manager is very flexible, understanding and is always willing to help out with special requests where possible.
