My uncle was very well cared for at Beach Lawns Residential Home. He had a lovely room overlooking the beach and was made to feel welcome (as were we, his visitors) by all the staff during his time there. He was a private person who wasn't interested in joining in the activities, he would rather watch and was allowed to do so. The staff made time to chat with him instead. I felt his needs were very well catered for.

The care and love provided by the staff who look after my mum has been exemplary. I feel very reassured to know that my mum is receiving the right treatment to suit her needs as the staff looking after her have taken the time and patience to get to know her and I would like to thank you for that.

My mother has recently used Beach Lawns for respite care. She has been living with me and my husband for the last 2 and a half years and we all really needed a break. Mum had some reservations about entering into respite care as she has no dementia, but does have poor mobility issues. She agreed to give it a try. What a triumph! She absolutely loves it. The staff are amazing with her giving her the best attention possible. She has a beautiful room with a fabulous sea view. She has several activities during the week including crafting and quizzes. She has like-minded people of her own age (87) to talk to and a lovely building to live in, comfortable lounges and a garden area. She would admit herself she is quite fussy with food but this too is also a triumph and particularly raves over the chicken dinner and homemade cakes brought around mid-afternoon. The manager is approachable and efficient, as are the staff. I simply cannot fault Beach Lawns and know mum is well taken care of there.

Wow-what a glowing review - thank you! Your kind words are so appreciated, and it's wonderful to hear how well your mum is doing with us, especially given her original concerns. We do hope if it is ever needed again, your mum will have no reservations in choosing Beach Lawns for some respite care. Thank you! Best wishes.

My father has been a resident for over five years and has always received good care and respect. During the pandemic they have made sure he was vaccinated very early on and received his second one on time. The family receives a newsletter regularly showing news and up to date information on visiting rules but also photographs of the residents taking part in activities. I have had no problems seeing my father, at first I was in the garden and he was inside, then behind screens in the conservatory and now tested and full PEE but no screen. The carers bring him on time and fetch him later on. I can now visit his room with full protection. I have complete faith in all staff and do have to worry about his care.

I believe that the standard of care at Beach Lawns is extremely high, but of course, I have not been able to visit my mother properly since she was taken-in in September last year. It is, therefore, impossible to gain an accurate picture of how things are done there. However, my telephone conversations with the staff are always very helpful and they all appear to be very attentive and kind!

My comments below are, consequently, based on the feeling I have regarding the care and not on actual experience!

My dad was brought here at the young age of 65 with a palliative condition. He received the most wonderful care and his death here was dignified. The nurses and the carers were outstanding and it isn't just a job for them, they really do go above and beyond. During a covid lockdown, they ensured that my dads immediate family could find a way to say goodbye. The care Dad received was adapted to his needs, as he was quite young and independent. His condition deteriorated quickly and the care/nursing staff adapted their way of working.

The meals looked fabulous (Dad certainly enjoyed them!!), he requested lots of coffee and always received one with a smile and the staff took the time to talk to him and get to know him.

I would like to thank the home and its staff for all the ongoing care my Mum is receiving. She is not always the easiest person to care for. The home is always very clean and tidy and my Mum clean and well-fed. A few trips out would be the only thing that my Mum would like more of. Thanks.

My Mum joined the care home a week before lockdown. She has dementia so was confused and distressed. The carers phoned me to talk to her to help her but they also talked to me to reassure me that most of the time she was happy. No matter who picks up the phone, they know my Mum and from the beginning have treated her like one of their own family. She is now settled and happy and I don't get the frantic phone calls anymore. I cannot praise or thank all the staff enough for taking such care of my Mum.

The Beach Lawns have been amazing with helping mum settle in following a long stay in hospital. During the pandemic the staff made mum feel most welcome and mum is very much enjoying it there. The food is fantastic and the care home takes pride in events such as the Queens Birthday which mum enjoyed. All the effort the staff put into these events clearly make the residents happy and make this care home a place you would want to stay.

During the period of this review we have experienced the Coronavirus pandemic. This is a real threat and vital danger to the residents of Beach Lawns who are sold and have many underlying conditions.
The home was managed excellently during this time. Understandingly and correctly the home was barred to visitors in good time and serious infection was prevented. Where residents or carers were tested positive, they were catered for with extreme care and thanks to experienced and excellent management, all survived the vital threat for which we are all grateful.
Contact was allowed during lockdown and, although she resides at the top of the building, the carers happily carried the telephone to my wife and we were able to cheer each other up considerably throughout these trying months. I was extremely grateful to management and carers for their patience and tolerance of my calls.

Otherwise, my wife and her needs are attended to with great care, courtesy and sensitivity.
