Silver Trees is a luxury 62-bed home set in the sweeping landscape of Somerset. Featuring two dining rooms and four lounges, the home offers a tranquil setting for residents in receipt of residential, nursing and respite care. There are 75 staff members, including a dedicated activities coordinator.

The countryside home boasts a secure garden where residents can enjoy the peaceful countryside in a safe environment. The home sits adjacent to an array of shops and has excellent transport links nearby.

As well as providing high-quality, person-centred care, Silver Trees also places high value on residents’ wellbeing, offering an in-house salon for them to relax and be pampered. There’s also free Wi-Fi access for all.

My beloved mum passed away 30 October. I travelled routinely from US to England. I am grateful to have had quality time with her during her last year. The carers treated my mother with such care and compassion. I often noticed their emotions upon their faces. My mum was not a statistic but a much loved
patient. I got to know all of the carers and felt a close connection with them. I could have not chosen a more caring home. May God bless you for enabling my mum to die with dignity.

My dad came to Silver Trees, upon the nursing floor, just over a year ago after a stay at another care home where he deteriorated. His condition improved at Silver Trees and this was due to the kind, compassionate care the staff gave him. The staff formed a good relationship with him, having a joke
together and he always had a smile for them. Knowing that the staff created this bond with him gave the family peace of mind that he was being well cared for. Nothing was too much trouble and staff demonstrated attentiveness and dignity. Families are encouraged to furnish their loved ones' rooms to provide familiarity within their surroundings and view Silver Trees as their own home. The catering is good and my dad would have been the first one to complain if it wasn’t up to scratch because he loved his food. The time my dad spent at Silver Trees with the staff became a second home for my family and will be truly missed. We will be forever grateful

I attended Silver Trees for two weeks of respite. I did not like a man washing my private parts. I struggled to understand some of the staff. I did enjoy having a bath and I became fond of one or two staff. I felt the staff were overworked and so I found it difficult to form a routine.

We aim to offer residents a choice of male or female when personal care is provided on a daily basis with residents free to express their preferences. Our staffing ratios are monitored monthly to ensure they are above what our residents need in order to provide timely care that exceeds the expected standards of our residents. We will re-evaluate our process and ensure we include a documented question from admission, as what preferences are requested by the resident, female or male staff members to attend for personal care needs. We cannot fault Silver Trees - the care and love they showed my mother-in-law was so different to the stories one hears of poor care in the sector. She was welcomed as part of their community from admission, and her end-of-life care was also exemplary. In addition to this the support they gave us as
a family after the death of our beloved parent went way beyond their duty of care and was much appreciated.

My husband has dementia with Lewy Bodies, which means his brain is being increasingly changed by the ever present dementia. I would like to say that his care is kind and compassionate, carers and staff all seem to know his name and about him e.g. 'he's a perfect gentleman'. On occasion, he can join
in some conversations. At lunchtime he sits with other men, one who always tells me that he will look after my husband and I mustn't worry. Senior staff currently are doing their utmost to help him when he falls, fiddles with the nuts on his rollator, or insists on sitting on the carpet. They have been very kind helping him with his false teeth and assisting with the use of his own cutlery from home. I am aware that this is a residential home, but my husband's dementia needs currently are being met with patience, smiles and kindness. The deputy manager has instructed newer staff how my husband needs help, particularly with meals in his room. The deputy manager has a firm understanding of his needs.

Mum has been a resident at Silver Tress for eight months, and in that time, I have found all the staff to be caring, kind and compassionate. Mum enjoys the food, and I feel that all her needs are being met. I would not hesitate to recommend Silver Trees to anyone looking for a residential placement.

My mum has been in Silver Trees for two weeks; prior to this, she'd been in hospital for five and a half months. She gets very anxious/upset, and the move was a major upheaval for her. From my very first contact with the Silver Trees management team, when we went to have an initial tour of the home,
through to now, it's been a great experience. Every member of staff has been polite/friendly to us and very caring to my mum. They have done everything they possibly can to reassure her and help her settle in. Nothing is too much trouble, and they are more than happy for us to personalise Mum's room. The food is excellent, the range of activities is varied, and the garden is a nice outside space in finer weather. The afternoon tea for the King's Coronation was really well done (relatives were invited to join in). The location is perfect to allow me to take Mum out in her wheelchair to local shops/cafés. Hopefully, my mum will settle and enjoy her stay.

Without exception, the service provided from the initial meeting with the manager through to the collection of my father's personal belongings was full of compassion, understanding and professionalism.
The whole team at Silver Trees were so understanding of the situation and ensured my father's dignity
was maintained at all times. It was and is comforting to know my father spent his last days in such a loving and caring home. Thank you to everyone at Silver Trees.

My mother has been a resident for a year. The staff care for and look after her like she is a member of their own family. They are kind and very helpful. The nurses and managers are always there to answer any questions you have. I feel at peace when I leave after a visit.

My immobile wife with 24 years of MS was admitted to the Silver Trees nursing unit on an emergency basis to cover a break in her care. She was very well looked after by a very considerate and attentive staff. In addition, the admin staff were also efficient in establishing her supplies of many medicines
(change of trust region from home), getting routine GP visits and arranging ambulance transport to come home.

A two-week trial in an obviously well-run and well-accredited care home gave me a useful understanding of the pros and cons of care home living, as contrasted with staying in my own home with a live-in carer.
On the plus side - the reassurance of help at hand at the press of a button; good meals provided.
On the minus side, for me, was a feeling of isolation compared with living in my own home. Among many well-meaning staff, no single carer was dedicated to my personal requirements and wishes, as I would have with a livein carer at home.

I found the staff very helpful, nothing too much trouble. I was here for rehab after being in the hospital, and I was treated with the utmost respect. Always professional. One lady has been excellent, over and above her role. Friendly staff, and they seem to know their clients (only what you see). Meals were adapted to the person and always looked balanced and well presented. Think the rooms (bedrooms) could do with a paint and not so clinical.

If you are interested or know someone that would benefit from our service please contact us. It costs £52.50 per day, inclusive of refreshments and a 2 course cooked meal from our menu.

Alina Tarba

Job Title: Registered home manager

Alina has an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care, and qualified as an RGN in 2015. She started in a junior nurse role, before becoming lead nurse, deputy manager and now home manager. Prior to this, Alina also worked as a care assistant and senior care assistant, gaining essential skills, knowledge and experience in all aspects of the home.


Alina adopts a safe and dignified approach to her delivery of care, ensuring the health, happiness and wellbeing of each resident. She leads by example, developing effective teams and a positive working environment, which is essential for both the team and the clients.
