My mother passed away on 9th March this year, having lived in Norwood Lodge since 2015, in all that time, she has received the best care, and the family cannot thank the staff enough for their love, care and support given to us all, but very particularly mum. She was treated with great dignity from her arrival to her departure, both of which were overseen by the same nurse.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback at this time. We are sorry for your loss but do hope that knowing your Mother received a high level of care and attention with us at Norewood Lodge gives you some comfort.
Pleasant, helpful service always.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you find our service to be pleasant and helpful. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything more we can do.
My wife had expressly instructed that I needed a short (few yards) walk along the corridor twice a day to keep my leg strength active. This was not done so I arrived home after 3 weeks with no mobility. There didn't appear to be any communication between the staff.
Thank you for the review. It was a pleasure having you stay for a short time. I'm sorry that your mobility has deteriorated since returning home. We take pride in offering a person centred approach for all our residents ensuring all have their choices respected and their wishes met while in our care.
We are told the food is not always very good, according to our relative. They have trouble eating some of it due to their dexterity. We hope they are offered spoons or help with cutting things up.
The current bedroom is poorly laid out.The floor has always got food and crumbs on it. Numerous glasses usually on table when we visit, not sure which is clean one. Their chair has bare wires coming from remote control used to raise it. Wash room always clean.
My mother has been in this care home for 18 months now. She has been well looked after. The staff are excellent, very caring and patient. The home is undergoing a refurbishment at the moment so the rooms will decorated. The garden has had a major upgrade and is now a lovely space for the residents to enjoy when the weather improves.
Thank you for your feedback. It is lovely to hear you describe our staff as very caring and patient. We also look forward to all our residents being able to fully enjoy the new upgraded garden once the weather improves.
All staff are friendly and welcoming providing excellent care to my aunt who has settled in well to her new home!
Thank you taking the time to leave your review. We are so pleased to hear how well your aunt has settled in with us. We want Norewood Lodge to feel like a community and a home- so it's great to hear this reflected in your comments. We're committed to making every day as positive and comfortable as possible for your loved one.
Friendly, welcoming home which gives excellent care, provides good food and a wide range of activities. Staff are always cheerful and friendly
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are so pleased to hear that your loved one is being well looked after at Norewood Lodge. It is great to hear that the food, activities and the staff's friendly demeanour have made a difference to the care home stay. We hope to continue to provide your loved one with the best possible care.
My dad has a facial cancerous tumour which is growing rapidly, it's very visible & has an awful odour, but the nursing staff & carers have been really wonderful with him from day one - making him feel welcomed & included. We have been particularly impressed with the dressings the nurses have skillfully managed to apply to his face (not an easy area to dress). As a family, we have also felt supported & know that the door is always open should we have any need to talk.
It's always encouraging to read reviews like this. We are proud to have such a compassionate team and we're glad this has shone though in your experience. We're committed to making every day as positive and comfortable as possible for your loved one.
My mother spent her last few weeks here in November last year. The staff were very kind and had high standards of care and cleanliness. They were also very welcoming towards my brother and I and we felt comfortable spending time there. We couldn't have asked for better care at such a traumatic time. Despite the sad circumstances my final memories of my mother in such beautiful surroundings, gradually drifting away from us are very positive.
Your words remind us why we do what we do. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We are proud to have such a compassionate team and we're glad this has shone though in your experience. It's lovely to know that you found the surroundings here pleasant and well...
As a family we can not speak highly enough of the care that my father received in the last days of his life. He was treated with tenderness & dignity by every single member of staff. That same level of care was extended to the whole family as we visited our father during this time. An uplifting and reassuring experience in the most distressing of circumstances. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely review. We are sorry for your loss. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time and we are very happy to hear you can felt at ease with your father in our care. Hopefully you will go away from this feeling like your loved one received the best possible care.
I always felt safe in the knowledge that when we weren't There, The Staff would take good care of him.
Everyone was always welcoming, kind and patient. Someone was always on hand to help with a hug and a smile.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It's really encouraging to know you could feel at ease with your Dad in our home, and we hope you can look back on this period of time knowing he recieved the best care possible. We are sorry to hear of your loss, and thank you for trusting us with your Dad's final months.
The staff are incredibly kind and caring towards my father and exceptionally helpful towards myself. Thank you all for all you do for him!
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your Father in our care.
Very impressed by the care provided to my mother for what turned out to be the final three weeks of her life. The level of care and support was exceptional; The staff were kind, supportive to her, and friendly towards her friends and family members too. At all times treating her with dignity and respect. I really cannot praise the facilities and the team there highly enough. A difficult and distressing time was made as comfortable as it could be.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mother in our care. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
Mum has been at Norewood Lodge for over a year and has been well looked after. Thank goodness for Norwood Lodge! The staff are all so kind and friendly. Mum never planned to go into a nursing home, but Norwood Lodge has done a good job of looking after Mum. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. It is so wonderful to hear that your mum is being cared for and well looked after and that you can feel at ease with your mum in our care. We hope Norewood Lodge care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your mum's stay as comfortable as possible.
Although Mum was well looked after she was quite lonely at times due to her poor hearing and eyesight. She is also an extremely early riser and this did not fit in with the routine. She enjoyed most of the afternoon entertainment. I thought the food was pretty good.
Hello and thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the staff at Norewood Lodge Care Home. We are happy to hear that Mum was looked after within the home and will bear your comments in mind for future care. Best wishes.
They (the staff) put everyone who visited Mum at ease and treated Mum as if she were their own Mother/Grandmother.
Highly recommend Norewood Lodge.
Thank you for your kind words. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We are saddened to hear about your loss. Hopefully, you will go away from this feeling like your loved one received the best possible care.
I cannot praise Norewood Lodge and its wonderful staff highly enough. My father was bed-bound and had to be hoisted twice daily between his bed and armchair, which the staff did willingly and cheerfully. My father, although physically incapacitated, was mentally acute and interacted with the staff, although he chose to have little contact with the other residents. He had his books, letters and poetry and was very content with that. When Southmead Hospital put him on their 'purple butterfly' pathway, he requested to be returned to Norewood Lodge, to end his days with his 'other family', and they looked after him with love and care.
Thank you for your kind words, it is really wonderful to hear your father felt so comfortable and well-cared for at our Norewood Lodge home. It's an honour that he chose to come back to us for his final days, and we hope it is a comfort to know he felt like a part of our Bupa family. We are...
My brother was quite shy and retiring, after living alone for a long time. After two weeks of respite care in Norewood Lodge, much to my relief he requested to stay permanently. The staff are excellent and have gently coaxed him into joining in and are making his last days really enjoyable. I can't praise them enough.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your brother in our care and it is lovely to hear that he is starting to join in more and starting to enjoy himself at Norewood Lodge. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your brother's stay as comfortable as possible.
Very good, even though the staff can be very busy or just not enough. Good, kind staff. Food is also good. Nice views.
Thank you for your feedback. It is nice to hear you find all our staff to be kind and that you enjoy the food. Thank you again for your review.
My dear mum moved into Norewood Lodge in August 2021, initially for respite care but she soon decided to stay. She felt safe, and content and having both nurses and carers available 24/7 gave her and us the reassurance needed. Mum adapted quickly to her new surroundings. She loved watching the ships go up the channel and joined in afternoon activities. Particularly enjoying the quizzes, weekly armchair exercises and the bingo of course. The prizes kept her in hand cream and snacks all week! Mum made some friends during her 2.5-year stay. One of the carers acted as her plus one at her grandson's wedding and completely supported her during the data enabling the rest of the family to enjoy both the day and Mum's company. The care at Norewood is second to none. Thanks, team Norewood.
Thank you for your kind words. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We will certainly pass your comments on to the manager.

Meet the Team (1)

I am currently a regional support manager and the registered home manager of Norewood Lodge Care Home. I have worked for Bupa since 2015 in a number of roles and joined Norewood Lodge in December 2023.
I first qualified as a registered nurse in 2012 and I worked in a number of NHS hospitals before I joined Bupa. I worked in neurosurgery and neuro rehab and cared for adults with cognitive impairment and brain injury.
I really found this rewarding and when I was presented with an opportunity to be the clinical lead of a large Bupa care home where I could apply my interest in caring for people with cognitive impairment to those who live in care homes, I jumped at the chance. I soon realised that I thrived in leading a team to deliver positive outcomes for our residents and haven’t looked back since.
What I enjoy the most is leading a team to deliver great outcomes for our residents. It’s the little things that make a resident’s day that I find the most rewarding. I also really enjoy being part of the Bupa team. We are all so well connected which means there is always support on hand and creates a feeling of security and honesty.
Outside of work, I live locally in Portishead and I have 2 daughters. I also like to try and keep fit and healthy.
