This was the 5th nursing home my father stayed at for respite and the only one that could manage his needs effectively so that he could have a good quality of life. He needed 1800ml of fluid per day in order to remain healthy and lucid which was quite a task, but Norewood very successfully rose to this challenge. All carers are very friendly and lovely people, making positive relationships with residents and relatives. Food is really excellent, environment clean, no smells, rooms spacious with ensuites and my father had beautiful sea views. End of life care was excellent and very compassionate stimulating activities and very well managed. Would highly recommend. So glad Dad decided to stay and said that it was better than having his live in carers.
Thank you for leaving your review and entrusting our home for your father's care and what a lovely room to have with the sea views. Our resident's health and well being are our most important priority and you have left such comments regarding the staff which will be passed on. If there is anything you wish to discuss further please do let us know.
My mother was well cared for, the staff were amazing. Thank you all for the hard work you do. Mother was a very happy lady in the last days of her life. Staff were very good to me and my brother with help and support.
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave such lovely comments. We are so pleased that the last days of Mum's life were happy. We are very glad to hear you felt supported, so please let us know if there is anything further we can do for you and your family at this time.
Almost sorry to leave, a lovely atmosphere.
Thank you for your kind words, we are very glad your loved one enjoyed their stay with us.
My father was very well looked after. The staff and premises were very clean. Although visits were limited, it was no problem for us to call the nurses. Generally very very pleased with all aspects of the service and would highly recommend Norewood Lodge.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you are satisfied with the quality of our care.
My father was extremely poorly when he arrived at the home. He was made to feel so welcome. As a family, we could not have put him anywhere better. It is extremely hard for everyone at the moment, but to know he was so well looked after has made his passing so much easier to cope. Thank you Norewood Lodge.
Thank you for trusting us with your father's care. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or your family.
Our trepidation was ill-founded as Mum felt very safe and loved at Norewood Lodge and soon felt at ease there calling it her home.
Each and every one of the staff was gentle, kind, patient and caring toward my mum, something which we will be eternally grateful for.
Thank you for such kind comments, we are very happy to hear that you can feel at ease and mum has settled well.
My mother was at Norewood Lodge Care Home for the last three weeks of her life. The staff and their treatment of her made those weeks extremely special. They were caring, respectful and nothing was too much trouble. Nobody could have done more than they did. In her final hours, the support, care and dignity were exemplary.
We are very sorry about your loss. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or your family.
Our overall experience for the day my wife entered Norewood Lodge was second to none. All the staff showed care and kindness at all times. We feel very lucky my wife spent her final days at Norewood. My deepest thanks.
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave such kind feedback, thank you.
Every member of the family who visited was treated as a friend and it was a great comfort to know that my mum would have the same people looking after her day (and night) in, day out.
On the day of my mum's passing we all cried together!
We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We are saddened about your mothers passing, so please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help your family.
The staff are generally very helpful. The food is good. I have a lovely sea view from my room. It is a very clean and pleasant home.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very glad to hear you are happy with the care you are receiving. Please let us know if we can make your stay any more comfortable.
Norwood Lodge exceeds all expectations of a very good care home. I would rate Norwood as excellent in all categories. It is spotless. It is bright and welcoming. The staff are amazing. It really does feel like home. The activities are fun for the residents and their families. They make everyone feel part of a huge family. They go the extra mile to ensure that the time spent there is as pleasant as possible. Each member of staff makes every resident feel they are the only person they are looking after that day. Wonderful.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your loved one in our care and that you feel like a part of our Norwood Lodge family. Thank you for choosing our care home for your stay.
We are now 4 months from that day and all of the above were met, unfortunately, she has very much deteriorated with now having Dementia but this doesn't stop all the staff treating her with dignity and respect at all times. The Carer, Nurses and Housekeeping staff are always cheerful, upbeat and nothing is too much trouble. For what is a very heart wrenching and difficult decision for anyone in this situation I would look no further than this home.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are pleased to hear about your positive experience and appreciate your comments about our home. We will certainly share your feedback with the home's manager. The Bupa Customer Care Team
My partner stayed for one week for the first time in a care home, to give me a break. He settled in well and made a friend. He was given the lovely garden room. The staff were lovely to him and helpful to me. Although usually a loner, he joined in skittles and singing. He was surprised how much he enjoyed it, especially the food. Full English every breakfast.
Thank you for your review of Norewood Lodge Care Home, we are pleased to hear that your partner was well cared for during his stay. We appreciate your comments and glad that he enjoyed himself and got involved with the activities! We will share your comments with the care homes manager. The Bupa Customer Care Team.
To all the staff, I found everyone so kind and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, I would definitely recommend the home to anyone.

He was treated with the utmost dignity during the last few days of his life, allowing for a comfortable and pain-free end.
The staff were wonderful and I know that he was extremely grateful for everything that they did for him.
Thank you for your review and I am sorry for your loss. I am pleased to hear that you have had a positive experience with our home.
My grandmother stayed here due to my grandfather passing away. Gran was made to feel extremely safe and cared for and supported as she had been separated from her husband of 72 years together. I would recommend this care home to everyone and anyone.
Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear about your grandmother's positive experience during a difficult period in her life. All the best to you and your family.
Dad, myself and my sister were treated fantastically. The love and care they gave to all of us were amazing. All the staff looked after us, checking on us. At the end, dad was given respect and dignity. What more can we ask?
So sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept our condolences. Thank you for your review and such kind words.
The staff at the home were invariably efficient, prompt to respond, friendly, cheerful and very polite. They all deserve a credit and a big "thank you", particularly the ones who gave me a shower and washed my hair. When I first arrived I was suffering from nausea and a reflux problem which lasted for 2/3 days so I was grateful that a qualified nurse was on hand and able to help right from the start. In addition, the food looked so good and smelled so delicious that my appetite was tempted back and I was soon tucking away three good meals a day. The homemade soup was especially delicious and the chef deserves a rosette/gold star.
My visitors were impressed to be greeted at the door and escorted to my room. Also by the bright and airy activities/sitting room and where we enjoyed a film/watching the rugby/a quiz - something was organised every day. I especially enjoyed the community hymn singing in the dining room revisiting all the old favourites. Another big plus was the general atmosphere, all the rooms, both public and individual smelled clean and fresh - a big tick in the box from me.
No criticisms - if I were a resident, I would take a good reading lamp as the ceiling lights were inadequate for bookworms struggling with small print.
Thank you for your review and kind words. I'm so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you are now back in good health.
I love them and can't wait for my next visit over Christmas this year.
Thank you for your review and lovely words about our staff. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy your stay's with us and hope to see you again soon.
I would recommend Norewood Lodge as I find the staff to be warm and welcoming. The rooms are clean and bright and my father tells me that the meals are good. The general atmosphere of Norewood Lodge is cheery and it seems to be a nice place to be if you have to be in a care home. My father has a fabulous room for his two-week respite stay.
Thank you for your review. I'm so glad to hear that your father enjoyed his stay with us and hope that he will visit us again for some respite care.

Meet the Team (1)

I am currently a regional support manager and the registered home manager of Norewood Lodge Care Home. I have worked for Bupa since 2015 in a number of roles and joined Norewood Lodge in December 2023.
I first qualified as a registered nurse in 2012 and I worked in a number of NHS hospitals before I joined Bupa. I worked in neurosurgery and neuro rehab and cared for adults with cognitive impairment and brain injury.
I really found this rewarding and when I was presented with an opportunity to be the clinical lead of a large Bupa care home where I could apply my interest in caring for people with cognitive impairment to those who live in care homes, I jumped at the chance. I soon realised that I thrived in leading a team to deliver positive outcomes for our residents and haven’t looked back since.
What I enjoy the most is leading a team to deliver great outcomes for our residents. It’s the little things that make a resident’s day that I find the most rewarding. I also really enjoy being part of the Bupa team. We are all so well connected which means there is always support on hand and creates a feeling of security and honesty.
Outside of work, I live locally in Portishead and I have 2 daughters. I also like to try and keep fit and healthy.
