No matter how made, a decision for a loved one to move into a care home is very difficult. Both my parents spent the final part of their long lives in separate periods in Norewood Lodge in Portishead; my mother between November 2019 and her passing in July 2022, and my father in the final six months of his life in 2023. The staff at Norewood Lodge treated both my parents with great dignity and went out of their way to ensure that they were comfortable and that all their needs were met - for my father this included putting him to bed between 5 pm and 6 pm and delivering his daily porridge at 6 am. Their rooms were spacious and airy - my father’s room looked across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast. Although it was sometimes difficult seeing both our parents in the late evening of their lives, the staff of Norewood Lodge went above and beyond in ensuring that their final days were in a secure and caring environment. My brother and I shall always remember Norewood Lodge with affection.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We are saddened to hear about your loss. Hopefully you will go away from this feeling like your parents received the best possible care.
The reception staff were always welcoming to us, happy to talk and nothing was too much trouble if a problem arose. The catering staff offered good food and managed Mum's diet well.
Mum died peacefully with family and staff at her bedside. We were given as much time as we needed with her and our privacy was respected. Our grateful thanks go to all the staff.
Thank you for your kind words. We are sorry for your loss. We hope Norewood Lodge Care Home did everything possible to make her stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and we were glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We hope you all feel like part of our Norewood...
My mother was cared for at Norewood Lodge for the last three months of her life. We couldn't want for better care. Sympathetic care and understanding, it was excellent. My mother enjoyed the meals immensely, giving her pleasure and nourishment. The nursing staff were very professional, attending to her medical needs and reducing her discomfort as required. I would not hesitate to recommend Norewood Lodge.

My husband was in the care home from August 2022 to February 2023. I cannot thank them enough for all the love, care and support they gave my husband and the family. Nothing seemed too much trouble and when he passed away the staff were excellent - just like family.
Thank you for your kind words. We are so pleased to hear that you felt like part of our Norewood Lodge family and we are saddened to hear about your loss. Hopefully, you will go away from this feeling like your loved one received the best possible care.
Firstly, I always receive a very warm welcome from the admin and reception team whenever I enter the building, they know me on first-name terms and are always pleased to greet me. The managers are always on hand to speak to about any concerns that we have as a family which is of great importance. The carers are lovely and can't do enough to help mum whenever she needs it, the nursing staff know mum’s current health situation inside and out and always are up to date whenever I ask them. The food is of a very high standard and always looks well presented. All the other staff I have come in to contact with have always been very pleasant and helpful and feel a great sense of a 'Team' if not family atmosphere! Overall I am very pleased that we decided to place my mother-in-law in this home and would thoroughly recommend it.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mother-in-law in our care and it is always nice to hear words like “outstanding” being used to describe our care. We do hope that not only your mother-in-law but you and your loved...
Norewood Lodge offers residents a safe environment with excellent nursing care. Rooms are spacious, well-equipped and comfortable and the home is in a lovely location with fantastic views across the Bristol Channel. Norewood was excellent at handling the Covid pandemic with a quick lockdown to keep residents safe. Like all care homes, there have been staffing issues post Covid but BUPA have worked hard to attract top-level care workers and things are improving in this area.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are pleased to know we have left such a positive impression regarding our care and facilities. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make your loved ones stay as comfortable as possible.
After my nan had a fall to then find out that she had lung cancer we decided the best place of care for my nan would be this care home and how shocked were we!
My nan was in this home from October 2021 to May 2022 where she passed away. The care given by the staff was appalling, they kept her in a room downstairs which is not staffed, and whenever she rang the buzzer no one would come. She had a broken toilet door with nails hanging out of it which was reported over and over and she was treated like utter trash. Many times I would visit and my nan would be crying asking to go home many times I ended up in huge arguments with the management. Let's skip to May of 2022 the morning my sweet Nanny passed away. I got a call just after midnight telling me to come in as she was in her final hours.
Hello, thank you for getting in touch. We are sorry to hear you're not happy with your experiences with us and with your nans care. Please could you contact us at feedback@bupa.com so we can investigate your concerns in more detail? Many thanks.
I am so happy and quite overwhelmed with the overall care and support of the staff at Norewood Lodge. Not only did they do an excellent job caring for my dad, but they supported me and my mum through the whole two years my dad was a resident. And it wasn't just the nursing staff, the whole team from management and reception staff to the gardener and cleaners, they truly do look after everyone! I would definitely recommend Norewood Lodge to anyone who is struggling to find the perfect care home for their loved ones. You and your family will be looked after right from the very beginning to the end and thereafter.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so happy that we were able to provide the care and support you all needed throughout the last couple of years. Thank you again for your kind words and recommendation.
Mum received excellent care from all the staff at Norewood Lodge. So helpful with a quick response so we were able to transfer mum from the hospital. They were compassionate and caring and remembered mum from a previous respite visit. It was tremendously reassuring knowing mum was being so well cared for and we can't thank all the staff enough.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We are so happy that we were able to get your Mum back into Norewood Lodge. Thank you for choosing us again.
My mother was accepted into Norewood Lodge Care Home initially for two weeks of respite care but after a diagnosis of cancer, stayed for five months until her death. At any stage of her illness, she was cared for and treated with kindness and respect. Our family were all welcomed by members of staff and kept informed of any changes in her condition or needs.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. We are sorry to hear about your loss, please accept our condolences, We are glad to have helped you and your family through such a difficult time. Hopefully, you will go away from this feeling like your mother received the best possible care.
We are extremely happy with how Norewood Lodge Care Home in Portishead made the final few months of my Dads life full of care, safety and dignity. My Dad had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for years and when he started to struggle to get out of bed and repeatably falling over Norewood Lodge was an obvious choice for somewhere that could make sure he was safe in his final time with us. We’d heard good things about Norewood Lodge from friends that lived in the area and whilst Covid made it difficult to see him at times we always felt the staff to be friendly and accommodating at all times. My Dad was always well dressed, in clean bedding, nicely shaven and (most importantly) happy. When my Dad died the excellent nursing staff noted his rapid deterioration which allowed us to be by his bedside when he peacefully slipped away from us which we will always be eternally grateful for. Clearly the past few months have been very difficult for us but a silver lining has been Norewood Lodge.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are so sorry for your loss but hopefully you were comforted knowing that your Dad received the very best care possible at Norewood Lodge. Thank you again for your kind words.
Mum was not well and the hospital said she couldn't come home as I wouldn't be able to manage her care needs. With very little time to the discharge date, I started looking and went to look at Norewood Lodge. The managers were lovely, kind, compassionate and caring. Room was very nice, Mum was allowed her own furniture, bedding and curtains - anything to make it seem more homely. All staff were kind, patient and looked after Mum extremely well and telephoned with any concerns. Glad Mum was comfortable and feel we were blessed to find such a lovely care home.
Thank you for your review. We are so glad to hear that you found everyone "kind, patient and compassionate", it is always nice to hear our staff described in this way. Thank you for choosing Norewood Lodge to care for your Mum.
My mother spent the last two months of her life here and was very well looked after. The staff are lovely, so kind and helpful. Even though she had trouble eating, they would always find something tasty that she could manage.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. We are sorry for your loss. Thank you for trusting us to care for your Mother in her last few months. Hopefully, you will go away from this, feeling like your Mother received the best possible care.
From the very moment I heard my sister-in-law has been offered a place, my experience has been quite wonderful, caring, kind, wonderful nursing, compassionate nursing and warm and friendly overall atmosphere.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is always nice to hear words like “Kind” and “Compassionate'' being used to describe our care. Please, let us know if there is anything we can do to make your sisters-in-law's stay as comfortable as possible.

Meet the Team (1)

I am currently a regional support manager and the registered home manager of Norewood Lodge Care Home. I have worked for Bupa since 2015 in a number of roles and joined Norewood Lodge in December 2023.
I first qualified as a registered nurse in 2012 and I worked in a number of NHS hospitals before I joined Bupa. I worked in neurosurgery and neuro rehab and cared for adults with cognitive impairment and brain injury.
I really found this rewarding and when I was presented with an opportunity to be the clinical lead of a large Bupa care home where I could apply my interest in caring for people with cognitive impairment to those who live in care homes, I jumped at the chance. I soon realised that I thrived in leading a team to deliver positive outcomes for our residents and haven’t looked back since.
What I enjoy the most is leading a team to deliver great outcomes for our residents. It’s the little things that make a resident’s day that I find the most rewarding. I also really enjoy being part of the Bupa team. We are all so well connected which means there is always support on hand and creates a feeling of security and honesty.
Outside of work, I live locally in Portishead and I have 2 daughters. I also like to try and keep fit and healthy.
