Winscombe Hall is a stunning Victorian Country Mansion House, nestling in the Mendip Hills amid an area of outstanding beauty, close to the Somerset levels and Cheddar. The Grade II listed building was built for the Reverend John Yatman and his family in 1836. The architects William Railton (designer of Nelson’s Column in London & Cardiff Castle) along with William Burgess (designer of fine art) were commissioned. The main house was completed in 1855, and remained as a family home for over 150 years until being converted to a care home in the last 15 years.

Cedars Care Group have tastefully updated this wonderful Victorian Mansion House whilst retaining and incorporating many of the original features, ensuring the buildings character is not spoiled and can be enjoyed by the residents.

My husband was in Winscombe Hall for 4 weeks before he passed away. I was impressed by the care provided for him during his stay, and the caring staff who maintained his dignity to the end of his life.

We are very happy with the care our father is receiving. Our only complaint would be the food, as this is very poor. The staff are very kind and friendly, and the care of our Dad is high. He also has a lovely room overlooking the gardens.

Mum is very happy at Winscombe Hall. The relief at finding somewhere that welcomes and cares for her, that is so clean, comfortable and relaxed is massive. The surroundings of the house, on the hill overlooking the countryside where she was brought up as a child, are perfect. The staff are always smiling
and happy, and very communicative with me.

My wife and I have known this lady for over 50 years. She was always very talkative but since she has developed Alzheimer's her personality has changed. She seems to be well cared for at Winscombe Hall and the staff that we have met are very helpful. She is always clean and her room is tidy. The only
negative comment is that her room is at the lack of the house with a view of a brick wall. Winscombe Hall is an old property with interesting features, it's a shame that it is so far away making it difficult for visitors.

My mother was accepted to Winscombe Hall in February 2024. It turned out to be perfect for her with her developing needs. The staff and manager were very attentive and patient, and all seemed to like Mum.
She didn't partake in any of the social activities on offer, being bedbound - so there is a lot
more on offer than Mum could use. When she passed away, the staff were with her, comforted her, and was communicative with me, for which I was very grateful.

The care shown to my father in his last few days by everyone from cleaners, laundry, care, nursing and home manager was exemplary and we can't thank them enough for making his last few days such caring ones. This caring attitude from every member of staff was a great comfort to my mum and the rest of

My nana was a resident at Winscombe Hall. Throughout her time there, she had laughter, love and kindness given to her by so many of the staff. It became apparent in her final days that she was adored and loved by them and certain individuals, and telling stories of their time with Nana, gave us warmth
and comfort.
The support from management, nursing staff and carers for us as a family towards the end was incredible. They took time to really talk us through everything, and they were so thorough. They made sure the family were fed and watered.
I cannot thank you all enough! Thank you so much for looking after my nana.

Mum initially came to Winscombe Hall for respite from the hospital and ended up staying for six months before she sadly passed away. The care and compassion shown towards Mum and us during this difficult time was outstanding. It was so lovely how much love Mum had for all of the staff; she was very
fond of them, and them of her. It was truly lovely to see, and I will hold this close to my heart and be forever grateful. Thank you.

My wife has been a resident at Winscombe Hall since mid-September, apart from three weeks in hospital with AF, she suffered from Alzheimer's.
The attitude of the staff towards their residents can only be described as exemplary. They are all caring and compassionate and show a great deal of love in
their work.

The Manager and her team looked after our mum in her final few weeks. The nursing staff and care staff showed great kindness to my mother whilst she stayed at Winscombe Hall for respite after a fall. They even arranged and accompanied my mother to hospital for a check-up on one occasion when I was not available. They were encouraging in a firm but very kind way to get
my mother walking again and she made great progress in that respect. I did feel that on a couple of occasions, there were times when they were clearly short-staffed (like all care establishments regrettably right now) and this did reflect in the attention Mum was getting. However, this is not a criticism of the staff's attitude as they did their utmost to ensure Mum was as well looked after as possible.
I would also add that the communication from nursing and care staff to myself was brilliant and they were extremely supportive and encouraging to the family in our attempt to get mum back to independent living.
I would recommend Winscombe Hall for care for a loved one.

My father-in-law moved into Winscombe Hall very recently. As a family, we have been so pleased by the support and care he has received. He is very settled and happy and it has been such a positive transition. The communication is excellent and the staff provide consistent feedback. The house and grounds
are beautiful and every day my father-in-law will go out for a walk and enjoy the surroundings. The staff are caring, supportive and very professional and we feel reassured that he is receiving the very best care. A huge thank you to all the care team!

Mum went into Winscombe Hall Care Home for respite care in January 2023. She had a lovely room overlooking the gardens. The staff and management were very kind and caring and took time to make a detailed care plan, they did everything they could to make her stay comfortable. The nursing care she was
given was exactly what was needed to enable her to return to her own home again. Very grateful to everyone at the home.

I started my career training to be a beauty therapist, where I gained the highest
qualifications. I initially moved to domiciliary care because I wanted to work in a profession
where I could help people, which has always been a passion of mine. I have never looked

My journey at Winscombe Hall began in 2019, where I quickly proved my dedication and
work ethic. Within eight weeks, I progressed from a carer to a Floor Manager, a testament to
my commitment to providing excellent care and my ability to take on new challenges.
In 2021, I was offered the position of Deputy Manager, and I have enjoyed the challenge and
learning the more in-depth nuances of care.
At the end of 2024, when the Manager decided to move on to pastures new, I was offered
the position of Home Manager. It was my great pleasure to accept, as Winscombe Hall holds
a large space in my heart, and I have great pride in the home. I am proud to be part of the
Winscombe Hall family and share in its achievements.
As I look to the future, I am excited about the opportunities to further enhance Winscombe
Hall. I am committed to maintaining its current high standards and am eager to explore new
ways to improve and innovate, ensuring that it remains a fantastic home for all.

My career has always revolved around administration, but I only entered the care industry
when I moved to Weston in 2013. I love working in the care industry; even when you are
working in an office setting and not on the floor, it can still be so rewarding. I get to meet and
speak to the residents' families, from the first visit when they are viewing the home to an
ongoing point of contact throughout their journey, building positive relationships for all who
live and work here.
My journey with the Cedars Group began at Winscombe Hall in April 2024. The first time I
visited the home to meet the manager, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the
country manor home. This unique setting is something I deeply appreciate and it's a privilege
to work in such a distinguished beautiful environment.
