The main house was completed in 1855, and remained as a family home for over 150 years until being converted to a care home in the last 15 years.

I have been delighted with the care that mum has received since she moved into Winscombe Hall & during that relatively short period, all of mums pressing needs have already been addressed & due to the attention & care she has received, she is far more comfortable & has reclaimed the dignity she deserves. The communication between Winscombe Hall & my sister & I has been proactive & kind, so "the family" are far less anxious about mums condition, as we are now confident that she is receiving the medical care she needs in a caring environment.

After two falls in lounge and going into hospital, they found he had cellulitis: it was 4 days the Dr said I'll come back in 4 days. - I'm not qualified, but I could see a line around his arm, so they left him in bed. I was quite annoyed so they called an ambulance, kept in hospital for 2 days....

When I asked if they could raise his arm, the nurse in the care home picked a cushion from the floor and placed it under his arm. She didn't see the wound around the elbow that was weeping, "Oooh" she said, "I didn't see that". I had to ask for a dressing - no one was in the room at the time.

She seems to be well cared for at Winscombe Hall and the staff that we have met are very helpful. She is always clean and her room is tidy. The only negative comment is that her room is at the lack of the house with a view of a brick wall. Winscombe Hall is an old property with interesting features, it's a shame that it is so far away making it difficult for visitors.
