Winscombe Hall is a stunning Victorian Country Mansion House, nestling in the Mendip Hills amid an area of outstanding beauty, close to the Somerset levels and Cheddar. The Grade II listed building was built for the Reverend John Yatman and his family in 1836. The architects William Railton (designer of Nelson’s Column in London & Cardiff Castle) along with William Burgess (designer of fine art) were commissioned. The main house was completed in 1855, and remained as a family home for over 150 years until being converted to a care home in the last 15 years.

Cedars Care Group have tastefully updated this wonderful Victorian Mansion House whilst retaining and incorporating many of the original features, ensuring the buildings character is not spoiled and can be enjoyed by the residents.

Hannah Dowe

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

I started my career training to be a beauty therapist, where I gained the highest
qualifications. I initially moved to domiciliary care because I wanted to work in a profession
where I could help people, which has always been a passion of mine. I have never looked
back and genuinely feel it has been my calling.
My journey at Winscombe Hall began in 2019, where I quickly proved my dedication and
work ethic. Within eight weeks, I progressed from a carer to a Floor Manager, a testament to
my commitment to providing excellent care and my ability to take on new challenges.
In 2021, I was offered the position of Deputy Manager, and I have enjoyed the challenge and
learning the more in-depth nuances of care.
At the end of 2024, when the Manager decided to move on to pastures new, I was offered
the position of Home Manager. It was my great pleasure to accept, as Winscombe Hall holds
a large space in my heart, and I have great pride in the home. I am proud to be part of the
Winscombe Hall family and share in its achievements.
As I look to the future, I am excited about the opportunities to further enhance Winscombe
Hall. I am committed to maintaining its current high standards and am eager to explore new
ways to improve and innovate, ensuring that it remains a fantastic home for all.

My career has always revolved around administration, but I only entered the care industry
when I moved to Weston in 2013. I love working in the care industry; even when you are
working in an office setting and not on the floor, it can still be so rewarding. I get to meet and
speak to the residents' families, from the first visit when they are viewing the home to an
ongoing point of contact throughout their journey, building positive relationships for all who
live and work here.
My journey with the Cedars Group began at Winscombe Hall in April 2024. The first time I
visited the home to meet the manager, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the
country manor home. This unique setting is something I deeply appreciate and it's a privilege
to work in such a distinguished beautiful environment.
