The atmosphere of Deerhurst is bright, warm and welcoming. The mood of the entire staff is without fault. They are accessible, available, genuinely interested in the residents and their families and the trained staff go above and beyond to liaise with next of kin to ascertain the best course if action for each resident and include the resident in any decision making should they have capacity.
Visiting is a truly heartwarming experience.
Activities are stimulating, conducted at a suitable pace and all are encouraged to take part to the best of their ability if they so wish.

I gave never regretted my choice of Deerhurst.

My lovely daddy was in Deerhurst for 3 years. He died there in the middle of last year. During his last weeks, (and the 3 previous years) all of the staff were so kind and helpful. They went above and beyond in talking to him, looking after him and keeping me informed at all times. Two of them were with him when he died in the early hours of the morning and I'm incredibly grateful for this. Deerhurst is the place where I was happy to leave him after a visit (or as happy as you can be, given you can't be with him 24/7). He had dementia and at times could be very grumpy (enough to try the patience of a saint), but they all, without exception, were so caring and lovely. There are huge amounts of daily activities, trips out, visitors etc. If he had chosen to do them all, he would have been a very busy man! I would highly recommend Deerhurst, run by Lesley and her team of absolute stars. You are very, very, unlikely to find a better, happier and more caring community of people.

My wife, who has Dementia, has been a resident of Deerhust sine May 2025 and the care they provide for her is excellent. The staff are very attentive and there are many activities every day. The home management is very good and there is also a very good approach to the way the staff dress (no uniforms) and the decor, which is casual and homely. I visit my wife every day so I see the operation of the care home daily. My wife was at another care home for a couple of months prior to Deerhurst, as we had to wait for a room to become available at Deerhurst. Whilst the other care home was good, it was not at the same level as Deerhurst for the care my wife requires. I would highly recommend Deerhust.

I honestly cannot rate Deerhurst highly enough.

This has been my Mum's 'home' for almost 2 years and previously my Dads too. The staff are absolutely fantastic, the activities provided are geared to involving those who wish to do so and that includes visitors too! I would without doubt recommend Deerhurst as a safe and caring place.

Dad has been at Deerhurst for 4.5 years now. Mum and I took the difficult decision that it was time for him to go into full time care in 2021 when it became obvious that he could no longer stay at home, regardless of how much support we had. This was in 2021 when there were still Covid restrictions around ... of the shortlist of homes we wanted to view, Deerhurst was the only one that said we could come in and have a proper look around, the manager said 'of course you need to see it in person, it will be his home', and it is. Dad is immobile & non verbal (most of the time) and yet despite this is still included in as much as possible. There is a wide range of events, trips and activities at Deerhurst from all types of music/singers/bands to visits from mums and babies, donkeys and reptiles and craft and parties are always going on, often with an international theme. The care and love that is shown to dad is amazing and I can't express how grateful I am to the staff there.

It's always difficult to make a decision that loved ones need care that's why it's important to view & to meet the people who will be caring for them - Deerhurst is fortunate in that it's the same staff looking after dad now as the day he came in, we appreciate you taking the time to say what matters thank you x

Having looked at many care settings for my mother we were recommended Deerhurst care home and went to have a look, we were met with kindness and shown around.
I wasn't sure mum would ever be able to settle into a care environment, we began with day care where mum enjoyed the mum and baby groups as well as other activities.
By the time a residential place was available, the transition was so easy.
All care home offer activities but deerhurst goes above and beyond, mum is always so busy that she doesn't have time to be unsettled.
All of the staff are wonderful, communication with family members is really good and there is a family feel right from the beginning.
Mum has made a new best friend, she's never bored or lonely and most importantly she is safe and well cared for.

A few months ago as a family, we were stressed, doing our best to manage and constantly worried, Things are so much better now, we can relax knowing that all mum's needs are being met.

I can't put into words how grateful I am of this home. My best friend of only 46 years old, unfortunately has dementia was placed in a nursing home for the last couple of years. Her previous home she was neglected in many ways. I was looking for a new home for her and came across Deerhurst and oh my goodness me from stepping through the doors. I knew this was the place for her. The manager, her team go above and beyond to ensure every resident is valued and cared for to the highest standard. They look after all of their residents like they are part of their family. You can see this as you wonder around the home there's not one resident is in their room. They are all enjoying the amazing amount of activities that are going on. My friend has improved so much her mood has been lifted every picture of her. I see of her smiling away, brings me so much joy. I'm so grateful to you all. Five stars is not enough.Xx

Shhh...don't tell anyone about the fantastic caring home nestled between Kingswood and Soundwell called Deerhurst. Mum has been a resident for over a year. Every time you think they cannot improve on the care or experiences for the residents living there, they do. The residents have the opportunity to live their final years fully, doing things they enjoy with love, care and support from all the staff and volunteers. Nothing is too much trouble or beyond the staff to organise. It is not only the residents that are supported and cared for, the relatives are as well. When we first walked into Deerhurst I noticed a poster saying "Our residents do not live in our workplace - we work in their home" and it is so true, it is their home filled with love, laughter, fun, care and support.

When mum moved into Deerhurst she was lost and haunted by her dementia but now she has a lovely rapport with all the staff, her eyes say it all, they are sparkly and she smiles a lot. I couldn't ask for more.

My father in law has been a resident of the home for the past year. We made the very difficult decision to move him to the home after his dementia and general health declined. It was the best decision the day to day worry about his well being and safety has been removed. All the staff at Deerhurst have been very welcoming to him and us. The home provides a bright and cheerful environment. They have take time to get to know his likes and habits, nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. There are a huge amount of activities on offer in the home, which are enjoyed by the residents and relatives are always welcome to join in. The manager's door is always open and all the staff are approachable and knowledgeable. I would recommend this care home to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

This year, my father moved to Deerhurst after previously living alone. From the moment he arrived, the entire team has worked hard to make him feel welcome, adapting to his needs and making him feel at home. I have confidence that any issues that arise have been and will be addressed promptly, and we will always be consulted and can feel secure that he is as safe as he can be.

Deerhurst is a true 'home' in the real sense of the word. Our dad has had wonderful quality of life despite his advanced dementia. We know that the staff truly care for him, and understand dementia. They are positive, caring, professionals who fully respect the dignity and 'whole person' of individuals. We have never had a second's worry about his care there in 8 years (could many places say that?). Worry about him - yes of course: during Covid, when we could not see him and who knew what would happen; when he has had pain or illness, or times/ days when he seems less happy or calm. But this is life - we all have to deal with these things. What we have not had to worry about is his care around these things. In fact, the opposite: we know that Deerhurst and the wonderful team understand him, the challenges when they come, and how to make everything the best it can be; whilst also respecting our deep family knowledge and understanding of our dad. We are extremely fortunate he's there.

My mother has been a resident at Deerhurst Care Home for 3 and a half years. We have been through different stages in her care needs and Deerhusrsy staff ansd manaement have alwys done everything in their power to help and support both my mum and myself. It is difficult being a relative of someone in a care home and I haven't always been easy - probably quite demanding (sorry!) but staff and management have always listened to my concerns. I am so very grateful for all they have done and continue to do.

Relative always wanted to be here. Staff have made a very difficult transition from marital home of over 60 years. Could have been very traumatic, but the care and compassion made it much easier for resident and relatives alike. Resident has gained a new lease of life, joining in activities, and happily chatting about her experiences when we visit. Care and housekeeping staff do an excellent job, and it's reassuring to the family that she has settled so well. A big thank you to all concerned.

Deerhurst was the best decision we made for my late father. He was a resident for exactly 12 years and it was the best 12 years he had since he needed care. The team went above and beyond daily, providing outstanding care from the moment he moved in. They were there every single step of the way and even now checking in even after Dads death. It truly felt like family was caring for him, the staff turnover is so low that the same staff who met him when he moved in were holding his hand at the end. The entire team is what it is because of the amazing Manager, who not only supported him, but us as a family. Nothing was ever a problem, they handled the COVID pandemic incredibly and the residents were kept so safe and the families were kept up to date with everything. The home itself is gorgeous and very very well kept.

Thank you Deerhurst, as always x

Deerhurst is an amazing home. It epitomises the term 'client-centred'. The residents are encouraged to take part in as many activities as possible. The activity programme is extensive and both in-house staff and external providers are experienced and innovative. Nursing and care staff are kind, patient and professional. The management team are highly experienced, clear in their goals and an integral part of daily life at Deerhurst. I have total trust that my mother will be in safe hands at all times. I wish all care homes were like Deerhurst.

My Mother has been at Deerhurst for just over 17 months due to dementia and mobility issues and in that time she has been looked after so well by the amazing, caring staff. Whenever she has needed anything they have gone out of their way to ensure she has what she needs with kindness and understanding and she is always treated with respect and dignity and I know that she appreciates this as much as I do.
The manager of Deerhurst is an understanding person who listens and will do all she can for the residents in her care.
There are many activities available for the residents ranging from games, singing, dancing to therapy animals and outdoor activities.

Whenever we visit we are greeted warmly and it feels as though you are in someone's home and part of the family. I can't speak highly enough of the amazing staff including the helpful admin and laundry staff and would recommend Deerhurst to those seeking a kind, happy, caring home for their loved one.

All members of staff greet and talk to my 'dad' with affection and care. They are welcoming and helpful to visitors too and never respond grumpily. Wonderful activities are organised almost daily with entertainers, food and drink tastings, pampering, games and physical tasks eg: dancing and boccia, and more. Residents are also taken on day trips regularly. Lastly, the food and drink, always available and plentiful, is fantastic.
