With stunning views overlooking Launceston market town and the surrounding countryside, Cedar Grange is a beautiful care home in a picturesque location.

As well as providing residential, nursing and dementia care, the team provides respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for family carers who would like to plan a short break themselves, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is being cared for.

The bedrooms are spacious and have walk-in wet room showers, with the ground floor rooms having private garden access.

There are wonderful spaces to enjoy activities and relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. There’s a café area, overlooking the gardens, welcoming lounges and sunrooms with wall to ceiling windows, which are beautiful spaces to enjoy the surrounding views and spend quality time with visitors.

A hairdresser also visits twice a week for appointments in the home’s salon, as well as offering nail treatments for those who fancy a spot a pampering.

There are so many enriching activities to enjoy, including animal therapy visits, with everything from therapy dogs to donkeys, as well as live entertainment, with singers, dancers and musicians, and arts and crafts.

The gardens are beautiful and feature wheelchair friendly pathways and raised planters, so residents in wheelchairs can also enjoy growing their own produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of purpose and achievement.

In the dining rooms residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays, as well as home baking every day for afternoon tea.

Close to the town centre, the residents can enjoy trips out into the community, keeping those local connections alive. And situated a short five-minute drive from the A30, Cedar Grange has excellent transport links and plenty of parking.

My husband has been in hospital for 23 days and did lost weight. He did gain weight and looks much better feels calm and happy. I hope he will be much better later on. I visit him often. I'm very happy with staff and one member of staff knows my husband from before and he recognised her here.

My uncle has now been residing at Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home for some time, and although I'm not able to visit as much as I'd like, he is happy and has made some lovely connections with the other residents. He is a cheeky chap, and enjoys having a laugh and joke with the staff, when he
first went into the home it was a difficult transition, however with the care and patience he has been shown he has completely changed and is much more relaxed and content. His room is lovely, and he enjoys the food. The manager has done wonders for the home.
Reply from Kate Yates, Communications and Content Specialist at Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing HomeThank you for your thoughtful and kind review for our team at Cedar Grange. We're so glad to hear that your uncle has settled in and found joy in his new home, with the support of our team and fellow residents. It's wonderful to know that he's feeling more relaxed and content. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to the manager and everyone who helps make Cedar Grange such a special place. Thank you for entrusting us with your uncle's care.

My wife had a respite break at Cedar Grange, and as far as I can tell she had an enjoyable time. But due to her frontal lobe dementia that has a severe effect on her speech we can't get a complete picture of her stay, but I can say on my visit it was a lovely place in a beautiful setting with wonderful
staff, and would recommend it to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.
Reply from Kate Yates, Communications and Content Specialist at Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing HomeThank you for your thoughtful feedback and recommendation. We're glad to hear that your wife enjoyed her stay at Cedar Grange, and we appreciate your kind words about the setting and staff. It means a lot to us that you would recommend our care to others and we welcome you to contact us again if you need anything at all.

Dad is getting the right care from all the staff, but some of his clothes are not there. I got him some new socks but there not in his cupboard. We keep an eye on it all.
Reply from Kate Yates, Communications and Content Specialist at Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing HomeThank you for your high-scoring review for Cedar Grange - we are delighted you have very recently chosen to join the home as a volunteer which is wonderful news. We are pleased to have very recently purchased a new tagging system for residents' clothing and belongings, which has been extremely effective in two of our sister homes, which we are in the process of rolling out across Cedar Grange.

My brother has been with Cedar Grange for the last 3 weeks. My initial thoughts and response are wow. They have welcomed him with open arms and are looking after him so well.
My brother is showered daily. He says the food is good and the staff are 'cheeky' with him. He loves this type of human. When
I collected him early one day last week to take him to hospital they had packed a bag of spare clothes and a picnic!
Communication from Cedar Grange from the start has been excellent. The manager and nurses have been brilliant. All staff friendly.

Although Mum has only been at Cedar Grange Care Home for less than two weeks, she seems to have settled in quicker than I could ever have imagined. From my initial contact with the home, Mum's transition from her own home to a care home was made so much easier by the wonderful staff, they are friendly,
professional, reassuring and welcoming. In Mum's words, "the home is spotlessly clean, food is lovely and the staff are superb". I can see Mum is much happier as she smiles much more.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing HomeThank you so much for your review and kind words for our team, it is so appreciated. It's wonderful to hear how well Mum is settling in with us and how happy she is. Best wishes, Fae.

A lovely nursing home, very clean and bright with lovely views looking over Launceston. You have a lovely welcome when you visit. All the staff are kind, friendly and helpful, it's just a shame they rotate them on the different units so often as it would be nice to have some continuity and to get to
know the staff better and for them to get to know Dad better. Having said that, there are a few we are getting to know now and they are understanding Dad more. Dad is well looked after health-wise and with his personal care, always clean, tidy, clean clothes, shaved etc. He eats the vast majority of his meals and is putting on the weight he lost in hospital. It would be lovely if they had their own physiotherapist but that's a big ask, especially in the present climate, but it has hindered Dad's recovery but that's not the nursing home's fault. Residents are able to make their rooms their own, bringing their own things. You can visit whenever you like and for as long as you like.

My sister moved to Cedar Grange Care Home in December 2019. In spite of the pandemic, staff situation was poor, with very little information produced and changes of staff. This was disappointing given that the home was closed due to Covid-19. Since then this home has opened and closed again several
times due to staff contracting Covid. There have been concerns about the levels of medication given to my sister and her CPN has also been concerned. Levels of stimulation are not always satisfactory. Issues about the care but being cancelled.

My mother was a resident at Cedar Grange Care Home until she passed in June 2022. Initially, as a more agile resident, Mum enjoyed the long, well-lit areas which enabled her to move around and exercise and meet other residents and staff, as much as she liked, and return to the privacy of her room as
she wished. Cheerful staff helped Mum maintain her spirits when the family were unable to visit. Mum was supported by highly skilled and empathetic nursing staff when her health deteriorated. We will be forever grateful to Cedar Grange for their care.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.461)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.461) out of 10 for Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.461 for Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (15 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 304 Ratings = 4.461
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
