My sister was recently admitted to the Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was very ill and died after 11 days of being there. I wanted to say how very kind and caring all the staff were, from the management to the cleaning lady. There was a family feeling, but on the other hand, everyone was very professional
and compassionate. I can recommend this nursing home.
Reply from Paula Haynes-Parry, Home Manager at Hillcrest House LtdThank you so much for taking the time to review Hillcrest House at such a sad time for you all, I'm so happy that you felt that the care and support that you all received obviously made a difference. May your lovely sister rest in peace and I sincerely hope that you all have/had a safe journey back to Italy. Kind Regards Paula

Having had the experience of our elderly neighbour being admitted to Hillcrest House, we found a very kind and welcoming atmosphere from all the staff, in a difficult time, but with the kindness and empathy given to my husband and I and our elderly neighbour. We would just like to say thank you very
much for the care shown at Hillcrest House by all members of staff. They are a credit to the profession.

Always get a warm welcome from the staff when I visit and are very caring. Also, lots of activities are organised for the residents. Good atmosphere especially in the Trevenna/Hendra unit and staff are interested in their whole background which must help in looking after them.

The staff at Hillcrest House work tirelessly for the residents. Whenever I visit, the residents are well turned out and treated as equals by the staff.
Hillcrest's strength is that the staff create a community atmosphere within the home. A community that is a privilege to be a part of when I am there.
The
home attends to all areas of need in life. Activities, spiritual needs, as well as the usual care you would expect. The staff in the home seem to constantly go above and beyond the expected.
I cannot recommend Hillcrest highly enough.

Mum is well cared for and all the staff understand her needs. A bigger choice of food would be appreciated. Particular thanks to those who wash, dress and undress her and assist her with her worsening incontinence and Alzheimer's.

It's evident that the staff truly care about the residents, fostering a sense of community and companionship.
My grandad feels safe, happy, and cherished, and that brings our family immense peace of mind. I highly recommend Hillcrest to anyone seeking compassionate and high-quality care for their loved ones.

The staff are wonderful. The kindness and level of care given to my father-in-law is amazing, it helps us know he is so well supported. The food on offer has really improved under the new chef, and the activities especially with one staff member in particular are great, hearing all the residents laughing
is a joy. The building itself is tired in places but work is taking place. A wonderful home.

I am very happy with the care my mother is having especially now she is getting out of her bed and into the lounge with the other residents. Although she is deaf and cannot interact with others, she is able to see other people around. This is I feel better for her mental health. The staff are always
very present and caring to my mother.

I cannot fault the wonderful care given to my mum over the last month at Hillcrest House. The staff have been attentive, kind, and nothing is too much trouble. They have also been very helpful to family visiting the care home and sort out any requests quickly. This enabled Mum to settle in quickly and
feel well cared for. She found the staff to be very approachable and commented on the good rapport between staff and clients alike.

My husband was admitted to Hillcrest House Care Home from hospital. I could not fault any of the Hillcrest staff from the reception who were very friendly and ready to answer any queries. I have every respect and gratitude for all the staff who cared for my husband. They were very kind towards my husband
and towards myself when visiting. While he was at Hillcrest, I always felt confident that he was in the right place, given his condition, and that meant so much for myself and the family. Thank you so much Hillcrest.

My Mum has been a resident of Hillcrest House for seven months. Hillcrest always appears a happy and welcoming place and Mum has settled in well. The care Mum receives from the wonderful staff is great and the management are very responsive and supportive to our family's needs. There are various activities
going on during the week which are tailored to the residents' particular interests and the meals provided are wholesome. I can recommend this very clean and friendly home and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff for their kindness and loving care of my Mum and the tremendous support they give to our family.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.620)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.620) out of 10 for Hillcrest House Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.620 for Hillcrest House Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (175 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 258 Ratings = 4.62
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hillcrest House Ltd is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
