It's really lovely to read how well your dad was cared for and how much he enjoyed his time at Chollacott. We have a fantastic team of managers, nurses and carers who are incredibly well supported by the activities co-ordinator. He has been at Chollacott for several years and his enthusiasm for the role and dedication to the happiness and well-being of residents never ceases to inspire my admiration. You clearly are a very active person and have had some recent challenges to face (strokes and fractured ankle). It's really important that stories such as yours are shared with the wider community - many of whom will have a very different preconception of what it is like to live in a care or nursing home. Yes, I totally agree, and we see it all the time, care and nursing homes can indeed present a valuable opportunity to take a break and get fit and strong again. I hear what you say about not wishing for your loved ones to move into a nursing home. I always think it's a bit like going to hospital, nobody wants to go there until we need it, then it's the best place to be. It's great that your uncle seems happy and speaks highly of the care team. I know exactly who you mean when you say 'the lovely guy who does entertainment' and I have to agree, every time I visit or see a newsletter I am amazed by how much he (and the residents) have done.
