It's really lovely to read that your dad is well cared for. I hear what you say about the common room. I have had similar conversations with the care home manager. Whilst we have in the past (and I'm sure will again) had residents at Chollacott House who were more able-bodied and could and wanted to spend time in the communal rooms, our resident group, at the moment, are a little more frail and not able or not wishing to spend as much time out of their rooms. Every resident has a bespoke 'activity plan' created with them to ensure that they remain stimulated even if in their own rooms for longer periods of time. Chollacott House have made use of our mini-bus this year and it continues to be available for them as and when needed. We have a fantastic team of carers at Chollacott House and are very fortunate to also have a fantastic manager and management team as well. I fully agree with your description of Chollacott House, whilst it is a nursing home where there is a great deal of skill involved in caring for the physical needs of some very old and some very ill people, there remains a focus upon creating a fun and involved 'family' atmosphere where everybody is cherished as an individual with an important role to play socially within the home. Hello. Thank you so much for this really kind feedback in which you have kindly recognised and acknowledged the great lengths that our care team at Chollacott House go to to ensure that the residents in their care are not just well cared for in terms of their physical needs but also in terms of their psychological and mental well-being. Writing that even feels a bit too formal - the care team work really hard to create a home-from-home environment where everybody is treated as an individual and there is an emphasis upon everybody taking part where they can and having fun. It's great to learn that you feel that your aunt is safe and has good personal care and is well looked after. Of course, we note also your comments with regards to the tidiness of your aunt's room and the 'very push and pull' when dealing with her personal care. Whilst I will talk to the care home manager directly about this, and ask her to contact you, I also encourage you to take any such concerns directly to the Care Home Manager, Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead - if they are aware, and with as many details as possible - they can set about investigating any such concerns. I have to say, I agree completely with all that you have said, in particular about our care team at Chollacott House. They really are an amazing group of people, all of them. Nursing homes are, of course, really busy places where the care teams have significant amounts for formal process and administration to complete as a fundamental aspect of providing a bespoke care package to each resident. At Chollacott they manage to do that whilst at the same time, creating a relaxed and homely atmosphere, in your words 'cosy and welcoming' and I feel exactly the same way whenever I visit or, indeed, call the home.
