Wolborough Court is an exclusive and magnificent residence that has been purpose-built with providing excellent care in mind. With exquisite attention to detail it is truly a beautiful place to live. The home boasts three lounges and two dining rooms all beautifully furnished and with a patio door that leads onto the home's private veranda.

Staff treat residents as they would want their own mother or father to be treated. Socialising is especially important and residents are encouraged to join in on the daily activities, eat well, sleep well and make new friends. The home is very focused on helping its residents to recapture that sparkle for life. The staff too have been with Rose Care Group for quite a while and take pride in not just being a care home but an extended family for all residents.

Longer-term residential care and also day-care are available. In day-care, individuals may choose to join the home during the day but go back to their own home during the night. Shorter visits are also available (for example coming for a couple of hours to join for a cup of tea and a bath) and joining in activities with the home's friendly little family.

The home is proud to be a winner of the Top 20 Mid-Sized Care Home Group award, 2024 and 2025.

My mum's experience at Wolborough Court has been very positive and her quality of life has steadily improved since she joined in November 2022. Management is good and well led. All the staff are very caring and considerate and are always helpful whenever I telephone.
Her room is spacious with a great
view over a nearby park and she has been able to add some pictures and furniture to help to make it more homely.
Food is great and the kitchen spotlessly clean. Sometimes treats are organised for tea-times.
Social activities are also good and it is really great to share photos on social media to view what has been taking place.

I have found the local management understanding, sympathetic and caring.
I had great difficulties with higher management concerning the transfer of my brother from hospital back to the care home. It took 5 days with my brother being marooned in a busy surgical ward awaiting a decision on whether he
could return to his room. This was distressing for him, his family and extremely frustrating for the hospital.
The local management team assessed him in hospital on bank holiday Monday (the manager interrupting her annual leave). I was informed within a few hours that he would be able to return subject to the owner and financial directors' agreement.
Hence the delay, the apparent policy is to contact by email only, presumably leaving a paper trail! The emails were not picked up!
This delay concerned the cost of extra staff cover and the provision of a special bed.
This is not acceptable for a caring organisation. The company's policy must change, and a 24/7 decision process should be a priority.
Reply from Paul Nery, Owner at Wolborough CourtWe can only apologise that you feel you were let down by higher management in the returning of your brother to the care home.
For the home to comply with all CQC regulations and safeguarding guidelines, we are legally obliged to ensure that we were able to safely re-admit your brother, and that we could safely meet his needs.
We worked as fast as we could to resolve this issue for you, even asking the manager to cut short her annual leave and senior management were looking at this over the weekend.
As privately explained by the managing director to yourself, the delays were not due to any policy about requiring email-only communication. Phone calls are quite regular within our team. It was caused in part by having to receive information from the hospital and then to bring in the right equipment to keep him safe.
We will look at the process and see if things can be sped up further.
At the same time, we were overall pleased that you had a good experience with us

When my mum started in Wolborough Court Care Home we were very unsure but the care and support your staff gave her was excellent and you all made her feel welcome. When my mum said she only wanted a female carer helping her to shower, you understood her feelings. Your staff are always on hand if we
need help and advice.
When Mum moved into her lovely room with great views, decorated to a good standard, the only picky thing is the carpet is quite stained. The facilities, e.g. laundry is done to a great standard and you even put my mum's clothes away neat and tidy. Sometimes I go to see Mum in the evening and the bins haven't been emptied from the day before. The toilet needs bleaching daily to keep it fresh. The food and drink on offer is a nice selection. We feel safe knowing the security is good. Since the new management has taken over, we can see a lot of good improvements. Wolborough Court is a well-presented care home. Well done everyone.

This is our first visit to Wolborough Court and our immediate impression was what a wonderful home for my sister. It's very clean, the staff are wonderful, the food excellent and my sister feels very safe, which was our first priority. I cannot thank the staff enough for their commitment to all the
residents and how they've made my sister very happy.

Mum has been at Wolborough Court Care for the past six months and has settled well, mainly due to the care and attention she has received from the staff. The staff treat her like they would their own family and we are always welcomed when we visit, made to feel at home and encouraged to be part of her
care.
The building is purpose built, it is well kept and is generally clean and tidy. Mum has a large room with amazing views across the countryside which she loves. She was able to bring her own bits and pieces which has helped to make it feel like home.
The food is generally good and the lunches are varied, the roast on Sunday is always talked about.
The staff is really what makes this place, nothing is too much trouble, they are friendly and approachable and the care she receives is great.

Really caring environment and staff will do anything to help. Mum initially moved in on a temporary basis and this is now permanent. The staff treat Mum like family and will help her in any way she needs. The new manager seems to want to make more positive changes for the future that I believe this
will only improve the home's environment and care further.

Dad came to Wolborough Court on an NHS placement for rehabilitation for four weeks. However, after initial reluctance, he soon came to the decision that he would like to stay permanently. He and I found the home to be kept in a very clean and welcoming state. The staff are always friendly, cheerful
and helpful. With only 20 or so residents, there is a feeling of being part of a family and friends were soon made.

My mum had a sharp decline with her Alzheimer's and I had to quickly find a care home in the local area. After visiting several, Wolborough Court was clearly the one best suited - the only one of those I visited that was purpose-built to be a care-home, rather than simply converted from an existing
structure. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and accommodating and are a nice mix of ages. They quickly made Mum feel welcome as well as myself and other family members whenever we came to visit. The house itself is lovely with good amenities and a gem of a courtyard (fully secure) with wonderful views across the rolling fields, which is a great place to sit with relatives on sunny days.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.882)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.882) out of 10 for Wolborough Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.882 for Wolborough Court is calculated as follows: ( (217 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 246 Ratings = 4.882
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wolborough Court is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
