Having had doubts about Belle Vue after it's recent history with CQC, I can now say 12 months after my brother took up residence that I am absolutely convinced he is in the right place. The quality of the care - infinitely more important than decorations etc, it's superb. What Harbour Healthcare have done to this place is a great credit to them.

Thank you very much for this lovely review. Belle Vue has needed a lot of work since we took over and it is due to our incredible team that it's now a home we're really proud of.

My husband moved into Belle Vue in October 2019 and we were immediately welcomed and made to feel at home. Due to his dementia, he now has trouble expressing himself and making decisions so it has been a challenge for the staff to get to know his ways. However they have all been wonderful, so patient, understanding and caring, so he is quite well settled now. Whenever I visit I am asked after my own welfare. If I have any concerns they are dealt with promptly. I am a little disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be more activities organised but as my husband cannot remember what he has been doing each day there may be more going on than I hear about.

I definitely know that I have made the right decision in entrusting my dear husband into Belle Vue’s care and would recommend them to anyone.

My stepmother was moved to Belle Vue after her previous care establishment had to close. Her dementia had gotten worse and it was recommended that she should have nursing care. Belle Vue was suggested as a possibility. After I visited Belle Vue, met the management and had the grand tour, I was in no doubt that this was the right place for my stepmother to be cared for. It's normally so hard when trying to make decisions for someone that is unable to make decisions for themselves, but this was easy. The care she received was outstanding. The staff and management always behaved in a caring professional and happy manner. Belle Vue was always kept so clean and tidy with no nasty odours. Sadly she passed away on November 5th, but I am happy that she spent her final days in such a loving, caring environment. Thank you for caring for my stepmother.

Where to start? Having suffered a devastating stroke that left my mum fully mobile but cognitively severely impaired, she needed care similar to that required by someone with dementia and came to the Belle Vue Dementia Unit for end-of-life support. As an only child and with no other relatives, having experienced sub-par care elsewhere and with time of the essence, I was acutely aware that Belle Vue had to work. I cannot overstate how well the home looked after both of us during this time. The setup of the home is excellent, lending itself to openness and inclusion of all residents. Everything is spotless and any spillages etc. taken care of immediately. There is not enough space to express how grateful I am to the staff for their care and dignity for all the residents. I spent the last 4 days of my mum’s life practically living at Belle Vue and saw first hand how much care everyone has for residents and families alike. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring a loved one here.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. The team at Belle Vue do work extremely hard to ensure everyone, including resident's wider family and friends are included and made to feel part of the 'family'. It is lovely for the team members to see what an important impact they had on both you and your mother.

My Mother spent the last 6 months of her life in Belle Vue, and as a family, we could not have wished for a better establishment for her, the way she was cared for and treated was first class. The staff were so committed and caring and we were comforted that Mum was treated with dignity, respect and with a great deal of understanding. We as the family were always kept well informed and our concerns dealt with promptly. The home is making improvements to facilities which are further enhancing the environment. In short, we would highly recommend Belle Vue to anyone considering it.

All colleagues who work here are amazing. The passion they all have for the work they carry out, shines through. My Dad, due to his illness, was rather "challenging" at times. However, this didn't affect the way he was treated. They continued with the incredible care that they had always given him. Not only do they care for the residents but also for the family and friends that visit. It felt like one big happy family. I personally can't recommend this home highly enough.

My Mum moved here when she needed Nursing care for the last few weeks of her life. The new Manager and her staff were very professional and caring in looking after Mum in the last couple of weeks of her life. The standard of cleanliness generally and in her room was very good and the bedding was changed regularly. Belle Vue is a very pleasant Nursing Home where the residents are comfortable, at ease, well-looked after, well-fed and above all, feel safe and respected. More could be done to provide Coffee/Tea making facilities for friends and family, maybe a machine rather than the kettle in the dining room when there are rarely any clean cups or spoons. The Home and floors are controlled by keypad access. My only issue was trying to remember all the numbers so maybe they could be rationalised - suggest one number for all inner doors and one for lift plus one for the outer door. That way only 3 codes to remember!

Would recommend this home to others.

Light and airy. Patio garden. reception area for socialising.
Good cooking and choice. Maybe need more staff and time for feeding. The staff are very careful of respect and dignity. Great that many more activities are planned.

Concerning safety. This has improved tremendously. Obviously, it is not possible to prevent residents from wandering about if they are unstable on their feet but staff often rush up with walking frames or to escort them. The outside doors and lifts have security code systems. Certain rooms are fitted with motion sensors. On the whole Belle Vue is a very pleasant place which the residents do regard as "home" after a period of adjustment where they are comfortable, at ease, well-looked after, well-fed and, above all, feel safe and respected. Much progress has been achieved towards making Belle Vue one of the better nursing homes in Torbay, largely thanks to the policies implemented by the new owners, Harbour Healthcare, and, especially, its new manager.

How great it is to have feedback from a family member about their experience of our menu and dining service. There is always a generally held presumption that food in care homes is not of a standard it should be, but your review proves otherwise. We very much appreciate the time and trouble you...

My Mum came to Belle Vue after discharge from hospital. When she arrived she was frail and exhausted. One month on Mum is more independent, back to good health and happy and comfortable. The staff are so kind, friendly and caring - cannot fault them. The home has an open, homely and welcome atmosphere. I feel part of the home as a relative.

We are always impressed with the standard of care/facilities/food in this home. Recently we have seen numerous very favourable improvements to the latter, however, this month our visit was enhanced by the invitation to share in a special Valentine's roast lamb lunch, cooked to absolute perfection by the exceptional chef. The food was superbly created and wonderfully delicious! Thank you!
