Staff were plesent and helpful.
And my friend was happy with the home.
The gardens were lovely & colourful.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate the feedback and I will pass this onto our team. Once again, thank you.
Mount Tryon Nursing Home is excellent. It's welcoming, full of life and heart. All the staff are caring, compassionate, friendly, respectful and skilled. It's homely, comfortable, bright and clean with some lovely communal spaces- comfy lounge, accessible garden, coffee lounge with home made cake for residents and visitors and lovely big dining room which feels like a restaurant. My husband lived there for the last 2 months of his life and said he felt at home. It was such a relief for me to know he felt safe, relaxed there and well cared for. The staff were very responsive to his changing needs and went the extra mile to support him in all the ways they could. The home also provided Aromatherapy, Chiropody, hair cut and physiotherapy and activities all of which increased the quality of his life. I spent a lot of time there with him at the home and was also equally welcomed and included. I couldn't recommend this home highly enough.
We thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review for us. We are so pleased we could be part of both your lives at such a hard time, being able to provide the care and support to you both at this time was truly a privilege. Thinking of you at this difficult time. I will pass this feedback onto our team. Thank you again for your comments.
Mount Tryon Care Home provides exceptional, compassionate care. The team looks after my grandmother incredibly well, expertly managing all of her dementia needs. The home itself is modern, spotlessly clean, and filled with a friendly atmosphere. Every single member of staff-including the carers, admin team, maintenance, cooks, and cleaners-is wonderful. Visiting frequently has allowed me to get to know the staff, which puts my mind completely at ease knowing she is in such safe hands.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It really does mean so much to us and we are so grateful you have shared yoour feedback. I will pass this onto our team. Once again thank you.

The hone offers a person centred approach and ticks the boxes in all areas such as activities and events.

Mount Tryon Care Home provided outstanding care for our father. From the outset, the team at Mount Tryon were very supportive to us all and helped Dad to settle in as quickly as possible. The home is modern, bright and very clean and staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The coffee room provided for residents and visitors and the gardens provide sociable spaces to make visits more enjoyable. The entire team from nursing staff, carers managers, cleaners, catering staff and entertainment staff go above and beyond to provide the best possible experience for residents and their families. Nursing and care staff were professional, compassionate and respectful and maintained excellent communication with us throughout Dad's journey and we will always be incredibly grateful to them. It was such a comfort knowing Dad was in such capable hands and we cannot recommend Mount Tryon highly enough.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We were truly privileged to be a part of Dads journey and to be able to support your wonderful family throughout the years. I will pass your lovely words onto our team. Once again thank you.
Mum has now been resident at the Mount Tryon Care Home for nearly 4 months.
Quite naturally, Mum was a very unsure about the big change in her life moving from independent living into "care". Change at any time in life can be difficult to handle - for a 91 year old such change is significant.
However, it wasn't long before Mum settled in.
The light rooms; open and free layout; the kind, welcoming and positive staff - management, nurses, support people, cleaners and handymen; the excellent food; the daily interactive activities; medical support; its security; and its positive ethos all make Mount Tryon a true home from home.
Her happiness is core. We are happy and confident that Mum is being expertly cared for and that her future path will be safe and happy.
Thank you Mount Tryon!
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are so pleased Mum has settled so well and is happy here with us. I will pass your lovely feedback onto our team. Once again thank you for taking the time to complete a review for us.

It has been almost 3 months since Mum went to Mount Tryon due to her Alzheimer's meaning she could no longer be at home. Mum was given a very friendly welcome the moment that she went through the door and that friendly caring attitude has continued with all the staff. A difficult situation and transition to a change in accommodation have been made much easier by the professionalism and caring attitude of everyone.

My mum receives outstanding care at Mount Tryon Care Home. The carers are truly wonderful-attentive, compassionate, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure she is comfortable and happy. The management team is excellent, and the home is run with real professionalism and warmth.
There is a fantastic range of entertainment and activities organised every day, which keeps residents engaged and brings so much joy. The food is beautiful, thanks to the amazing chef and her team, and the entire home is kept wonderfully clean.
I look forward to my visit to see mum each week, and I love to catch up with all the wonderful team at Mount Tryon.

Mum moved into Mount Tryon as a short term basis/trial period due to early onset dementia and recently suffering a nasty fall. Within a week Mum decided to stay perminatly. She enjoys the activities, people to talk to and especially the food. Whilst living alone at home she was wasting away, she is putting on weight and able to get around now. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful with any event that may arise.
Update.. Mum has now been there for about 5 months and still happy as Larry! The carers have gone out of their way to help mum with serious podiatrist care, and making sure she is always looking clean, hair done and everything taken care of! She is piling the weight back on, thank goodness and loving the entertainment! Thanks so much Mt Tryon x

The home is very welcoming. The staff are very friendly. The arts and crafts are certainly 100% This helps very much with the social side. The care is good but not exceptional, in the fact of not knowing who to contact. On the whole I think my sister is happy.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. It is important for us to have honest feedback as we are always striving to improve. I am so pleased you find our activities to be wonderful and you enjoy the social aspect of the home. I am sorry you are unsure of who to contact. You are...
It was a great pleasure for me and my wife to visit my cousin in Barchester Mount Tryon Care Home. My cousin is receiving care which is, in my opinion, second to none. The staff are first class, nothing is a bother for them and it feel such a happy place. It is also spotlessly clean and the rooms and garden areas are superb. I'm not very good at remembering names but the chef is a very caring person and her and her staff supply wonderful varied food for everyone. To end, I'd just say it was a wonderful experience.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this truly lovely review. It really means a lot to hear about your experience with us when visiting Mount Tryon and your cousins experience day to day. I will pass this feedback on to our team, particularly to our Housekeeping team and our Chefs ....
We recently needed some respite care for my Mum. Admitted to hospital and being told she was medically fit we had to turn to looking for care homes at short notice. We went around several homes and were extremely disappointed. We went to Mount Tryon and were overwhelmed by their kindness, compassion and professionalism. They completed an assessment with mum and she was admitted the same day. Two weeks on we couldn't be happier. Mum has settled and decided she will stay permanently. Very happy, big thank you to everyone at Mount Tryon.
Thank you so much for leaving us a review. It really means a lot to hear about your experience with us at Mount Tryon. I will pass this feedback on to our team. Once again, thank you for taking the time to complete a review for us.

I understand making the decision to move your loved one to a care home can be a daunting experience, but I am here to help you with the journey, answer all of your questions and make the transition a positive one for you and your loved one.

Hi, my name is Dana and I am the Deputy manager here at Mount Tryon. I am originally from Romania where I gained my nursing degree. I am originally from Romania. I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2002. I have worked around the world gaining invaluable knowledge and skills. I have worked at Mount Tryon for almost twelve years, working both days and nights and finally settling into my role as Unit Manager.
I enjoy working at Mount Tryon as everyone here is like my second family. I feel every day of life is a miracle in itself, a valuable magic. We should never lose our sense of wonder and I believe the shortest distance between two people is a smile.
If I can achieve that for the residents and lead my team effectively I am happy doing my job.

Hello, my name is Agnes, and I have been a registered nurse since 2016. I am currently a Senior Nurse at Mount Tryon and have worked here continuously since qualifying, with a maternity break in between.
I am passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care and building meaningful relationships with both residents and their families. I always strive to give my best, ensuring everyone feels safe, supported, and truly cared for.
Mount Tryon feels like a second home to me, and I value the strong sense of teamwork and family atmosphere we share. It is a privilege to be part of such a dedicated and caring community.

My name is Helen, I am a Registered General Nurse who, out of the quest for experience, knowledge, and career progression applied to Barchester Healthcare and was fortunate to be employed in the beautiful home called Mount Tryon Care Home. I have worked in the home for over a year and 3 months, and in those days, there have never been any regrets, nor a better yesterday. The support from the team has been next to none. I walk out with my shoulders up high because I can appreciate the standards and professionalism we uphold and we celebrate the lives of all of our residents. I especially love Dementia Nursing and our Memory Lane Unit. This is a true passion in my Nursing.

Last year, I joined the warm, positive, supportive and dedicated team at Mount Tryon, where I have had the opportunity to work with people from all over the world. I live by the principle “Unity in Diversity”.
My choosing nursing can be described as a “calling”. No matter how complicated or difficult a circumstance can be in somebody’s life,I never lose the hope, the strength and the courage to search for the best solutions for the people in my care and at the end of the day, I have to go home knowing that I have made a difference in their lives.
I always strive to give the quality of care which I would want for myself.
Last but not least, I love the endless amount of learning that the healthcare field offers in the UK, so there is no place for boredom in my life.
My only regret is that the day only has 24 hours.

Hello, my name's Rekha. I started my career as a Registered nurse from 2014 as a Registered Nurse in India. I am extremely passionate about my job! I joined Mount Tryon last year, and I love my role. I am thankful for this opportunity to be a part of this wonderful team.

My name is Deborah, although I prefer to be called Debbie. I was born in Torquay and moved up to London with my parents when I was 12 years old. Once I finished school, I had various jobs, always gravitating towards Administration. I eventually married and had my beautiful son, whom I have travelled extensively with, covering the length of Egypt, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and the USA. He is now grown and flown the nest, so I decided it was time to move back to Torquay, which I always missed. I was managing an office for a busy Construction Company in London, so I packed up and moved back. Once back, I applied for the position of Admin Assistant at Mount Tryon Care Home. I have never worked in a Care Environment before and was a little apprehensive. I have been nothing short of very pleasantly surprised by the calm and happy atmosphere here at Mount Tryon, and I enjoy working here very much.

Hello, my name is Siri, and I am originally from Thailand. I joined Mount Tryon in 2025 as a Bank Activities Assistant. I love this job very much because it doesn't feel like coming to work; it feels more like caring for my own parents and grandparents. Some residents love sharing their stories with me, and I am happy to hear them every time. I can create wonderful activities and bring life enrichment to every resident. Seeing the smiles on the residents' faces brings me great joy, and I want to thank them and their families for trusting me. I just want to make a small difference in someone's day, even if it is only for five minutes. I find working in a care home highly rewarding.

Hi, my name is Sebastian. I am an activities assistant at Mount Tryon. I am originally from Poland but moved to the United Kingdom in 2006. In my own time, I enjoy going to visit other towns and cities. I love catching the train and having days out locally, in Teignmouth, Exmouth, Barnstaple and Taunton. I love to travel by steam train and ferry and regularly enjoy days out. I enjoy talking to the residents about my travels and always get advice on new places to visit from them.

Hello, my name is Peter. I am a chartered Physiotherapist, with a speciality in Rehabilitation & Neurology.
I have been working for Barchester Healthcare as a Physiotherapist for over 17 years, having graduated with BSc Honours in Physiotherapy 26 years ago and a subsequent Master’s degree in Rehabilitation at Oxford Brookes University.
I am an ambitious, team player, goal-orientated, adventurous and easy-going person, with a special interest in motorsports, F1 to be specific.
Supporting our residents to achieve their rehabilitation goals is what I love in my job. Whether they choose to make Barchester their home or they prefer to go home to meet their loved ones, I will always be by their side to support them in their journey.

Hi! my name is Ewaen Okoro, a physiotherapy assistant at Mount Tryon.
I am deeply passionate about healthcare and dedicated to improving lives through compassionate service. I take pride in helping individuals regain their physical well-being and confidence, which inspired me to pursue a career as a physiotherapy assistant. My primary goal is to support our elderly residents in maintaining their independence and living fulfilling, active lives by providing tailored therapeutic support designed by the physiotherapist.
I possess two master’s degrees in anatomy and public health, providing me with a strong foundation in human anatomy and health promotion. Also, to further develop my professional skills, I hold a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care.

Hello, my name is Jane. I have been a carer for 2 years and I love my job. I moved to care after looking after my father-in-law after he was taken unwell. I enjoy learning new things every day and I love being able to care for our residents. I started to work at Mount Tryon over a year ago now and I have not looked back.
I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren and I like animals.

Hello, my name is Susan and I have been a carer at Mount Tryon for nearly 3 years now. My background consists of being a carer for 13 years in both residential and community care. I enjoy the work that I do, I find it very rewarding to help people who can no longer look after themselves the way they once did. I also like meeting new people and talking with people which helps me with my job as I like to hear about their life stories. I am a grandmother to 3 very active boys who I look after on my days off but I love it. Here at Mount Tryon, I work with a brilliant group of people from so many different countries it is very interesting to hear all about their different cultures. We work hard and support each other, we are a great team and I really enjoy the job that I do.

Hello, my name is Thejus Jose but I like to be called TJ.
Originally I am from India but I moved to the UK a few years ago. I am a Masters Degree Graduate from the University of Central Lancashire. I have been working at Mount Tryon for the last two years. I love my job and I am very happy here. When I am not at work I like to watch movies.

I enjoy mixing with other people and knowing what they feel and think about things, so hopefully this will suit me to do this role. I have been given the honour to do this.
I realise I will need patience and will try to be open and truthful in difficult situations.
I have had many years of learning to be patient as a teacher so this should stand me in good stead!
