I think the home is excellent, awaiting a larger room upstairs to become available to accommodate my furniture from my home. I have a special dietary requirement and the home has adapted the food to meet my needs.

Abbey View is a really excellent home and it rightly enjoys a superb reputation from my family and friends who have had parents residing here in the recent past.
My partner is so much happier here than in his previous home which was good. Staff are so helpful and food much tastier and more appetising.

Reply from Elaine Farrer, Operations Director at Abbey View Nursing & Residential HomeThank you for your review and likelihood to recommend the home. I understand that during your recent stay you requested a room with an en-suite shower which we were unable to provide at the time due to none of these bedrooms being available. However, you otherwise found your room comfortable. We hope you choose to stay at Abbey View again in the future and, depending on capacity, we hope to meet your bedroom requests.

This place is fine, because I am not more enthusiastic is entirely my fault, as I prefer to be independent and cannot be.
Reply from Elaine Farrer, Operations Director at Abbey View Nursing & Residential HomeThank you for your review and your likelihood to recommend the home. I understand that since this review you have clarified to our home chef that you rated Food & Drink as ‘Satisfactory’ as you felt you had no negative comments, and have since described the food as delicious and beautifully presented. I am also aware that you have enjoyed activities within our home, however capacity on a recent minibus trip meant you were unable to attend. I came here having fractured my 2nd hip. Was in hospital for 10 days. I have had very good care. The food is excellent I have a nice room with a good view over the garden and people coming and going. I am lucky with this. Also, they have been very good about my lactose-free diet.

My week's respite stay here has been very pleasant. Everybody has been most friendly and I hope to come again in the near future. Owing to osteoarthritis in the spine and the rotten unforgiving mattress my sleeping has been disappointing but all other aspects of my stay have been excellent.

An outstanding residential home. Brilliant management, constantly positive and cheerful and efficient staff.
The daily menu is mouth-watering and food delicious.
An excellently organised entertainment programme.
After three years of visiting almost daily, it is hard to find fault with staff who are
genuinely concerned about care and cleanliness.
Everyone outside the home believes it is the best and hope a bed is available when they have need.

All I can say is that since my father has been in the home, he has improved in health and happiness and is now very content. From the visits I have made, cannot find any complaints. The home is staffed by caring and lovely people and this runs from the management to the cleaning staff, so only praise.
When it's my time, it's the place I would be happy in.

I was taken to Abbey View on the 1st October. Several months earlier I had had cellulitis, although this painful infection had gone it had left my leg in bad condition. We rang for a place at another home but they were full up so suggested Abbey View. They could take me straight away, so 2 days later
I was a resident at Abbey View.
We arrived to a welcoming group and the manager was lovely, I ate tasty tea cakes as I was so hungry.
The caring nurses are excellent, nothing was too much trouble but they sometimes took rather a long time to complete a task. They all seem happy and smiled at me often. A happy home.

My mother is cared for with great kindness and thoughtfulness and her individual needs are always catered for. The professionalism of the staff is outstanding and their high standards and attention to detail are always noted. She is very happy living here - she feels safe and secure and enjoys the interaction
with the staff. The food is superb. She often says it is like coming to a good hotel. Considering how resistant she was to come into a care home I am delighted how happy and well cared for she is.

I came here in October 2016 it has taken a long time to settle due to having to give up my home and my much loved 12-year-old cat, he has now settled in a new home so I feel happier. The highlight of my week is out in the minibus which is the thing I really look forward too.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.831)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.831) out of 10 for Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.906 for Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (184 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.906
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
