Over all time Zetland Court has 95 reviews.
Mother was at Zetland Court for some 3 years, a lovely old building in delightful grounds with farthest part looking through a chine to the sea. Care was excellent, all very kind and considerate up to the end. Although not one for organised 'fun' she enjoyed the classical music performances, poetry and the regular resident's meetings with the very charming and capable manager. She also enjoyed being able to walk in the gardens and down through the woods to the sea view. Mealtimes were always enjoyed in the dining room, albeit the food was at times uninteresting, nevertheless another change of scenery and company! No hesitation in highly recommending. Thank you to all staff and volunteers.
On behalf of all the team at Zetland, our grateful thanks for your warm comments, it was a pleasure to care for and support your mother, she is still spoke of with fondness today.
A dear friend of mine has recently moved into Red Admiral View. The staff, in particular the manager Sue, have gone out of their way to make her feel settled and happy. She has a lovely room overlooking the beautiful gardens. The room is always clean, tidy and rubbish taken out promptly. When a call bell sounds staff are quick to respond to residents and with patience and compassion. The communal areas/toilets are always spotlessly clean. There is a varied programme of activities. The Christmas programme of events has been fantastic. They also offer trips out to garden centres. They are all so welcoming when visitors arrive and show flexibility if someone wants to take a loved one out for a while. I can't comment about the food but my friend always says that it's delicious and it always smells so good to me! There's always a tea trolley available with cake! I often take my friend over to the main house Zetland Court where we are always welcomed. Thank you to you all for all you do.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a kind review and I am pleased to hear you feel so welcomed. It is always encouraging when people share positive comments about the care we provide, I shall make sure to share your review with the team in Red Admiral.
My mum spent the last year as a resident in Red Admiral wing when her dementia advanced to the stage where dad and I were no longer able to care for her at home. The worry and guilt we had for making the decision soon disappeared when we saw how mum was cared for, always with such patience and dignity. The staff took time to learn about mum's background so that they could engage with her and they really do understand how dementia affects the residents. The residents are encouraged to spend time out of their rooms and there are always activities for them to take part in. Christmas was made really special with loads of decorations, activities, parties, presents, raffles and we celebrated mums 90th birthday with a party for residents friends and family. Every holiday and birthday is celebrated. Nothing is too much trouble for the manager Sue and her amazing team. Red Admiral became our second home and we were always welcomed and made to feel part of the Red Admiral family
Thank you for all your support and helping us get to know your mum, this is so valuable when providing dementia care.
I shall pass your comments on to the team.
All the staff are so friendly and helpful and engage with the residents on an individual basis and I have no hesitation in recommending this home to any prospective residents and families.
On behalf of the team in Red Admiral, I would like to thank you for your kind and positive review. It is our aim wherever possible to improve the living experience of each of our residents, this not only includes their physical wellbeing but also their social and emotional wellbeing, we strive to celebrate the uniqueness of the individual.
My mum has been a resident in Red Admiral View - the specialist dementia home at Zetland for a few years now. All the residents are treated with respect and care, helped with their specific needs and supported as individuals. Mum is always nicely dressed, with her hair done, nails often painted and still looks like my mum. She and all the residents are stimulated through a whole variety of entertainment and activities - I feel as though every time I visit there are new things on the wall, new entertainers, new areas and colours. The manager is extremely dedicated and ensures that it feels like the residents home with meals and bedtimes etc all flexible to the day and the individuals needs. Her room and bathroom are always clean and tidy, with lots of pictures up. Of course it's sad to see mum poorly but I can see that she feels relaxed and cared for, that she is warm, safe and so much better off than when we were struggling to care for her at home. Thank you xx
On behalf of all the team in Red Admiral, thank you for such a wonderful review. I know how dedicated the team are and aim to provide the best experience for all residents. Its is our privilege to support and care for your mother.
The activities coordinator is a vibrant and encouraging personality and provides stimulation and fun to brighten the day.
The kitchen / dining support staff ensure a clean and positive dining experience for the residents and nothing is too much trouble .
The laundry ladies are cheerful and clothing is always returned to dad's room , he's always in his own clothes too.
They help to find the light in our dear Dad.
THANK YOU

Our mum came to red admiral view at Zetland court a few weeks ago. Having Alzheimer's it's been a very difficult time for her but with the help and support of all the lovely staff at Zetland Court she is settling in nicely. Their attention and care has been so lovely and given us all great comfort. Her personal care needs are being met and she has 3 square meals a day and lots of snacks in between. She is slowly beginning to get more comfortable with her surroundings. We as a family feel very confident that she is in safe hands. We have regular updates on how mum is doing when we haven't seen her which is a great comfort. It's only 5 mins from the seafront so a lovely area to take your loved ones for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Would highly recommend.
On behalf of the whole team at Zetland Court and from the community in Red Admiral, thank you for your kind words and comments. It is a real boost when we hear that our input has helped and that we have been able in some way to alleviate any concerns families and loved ones may have, thank you once again and we look forward to getting to know you and your mother more.
Rooms and common areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. relatives and friends are welcomed at all times and encouraged to join in the daily activities programmes which are designed to stimulate the residents in body and mind.
Residents retain their true identity and are treated with the appropriate care, love and understanding at all times, most importantly retaining dignity when dealing with personal care and cleanliness which is supported by an excellent laundry service.Meals, drinks and snacks are always available.
For the residents this becomes their new home with the support of the Zetland Court family around them, not only the staff, but all residents are encourage to integrate into their new way if life which cannot be easy when a person loses their independence.
On behalf of all the team and community of Red Admiral Thank you for your positive and kind words. It is always a boost when the hard work and dedication of the team is seen to be recognised, your review is much appreciated and will be shared.Thank you
Every care and consideration provided much needed respite and support at Zetland Court.
On behalf of the team at Zetland Court, thank you for your kind review and we hope we can be of assistance in the future.
Should I ever need to consider residency of a care home this is where I want to be.
On behalf of the team at Zetland Court, thank you so much for your kind, positive review.
Zetland Court is somewhere where you know that your loved one is looked after. The attention to care is second to none and all the staff are 'friends' as well. One big family. All are helping in the absence of activities coordinator to keep the residents amused.
On behalf of all the team, Thank you for your your kind review and being part of our community. As we wait to find the right people to lead our activity provision, the team has come together to fill the gap allowing us to discover new skills and build closer relations with the residents.
The ambience in the home is brilliant, and the staff are amazing.
I hope Dad doesn't need respite care again in the near future, and when he does need it again, Zetland Court will be the first place I call.
If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
On behalf of all the team, thank You so much for such a positive review, it was a pleasure to get to know your father and yourselves, and we are glad we could be of assistance. We wish him and you all the best for the future.
After visiting the dementia unit daily for many months I cannot praise them too highly. It is a pleasant place to be in the company of the carers and manager, not to mention the housekeeping staff and those in the kitchen. My husband has settled and appears happy and I am content that he has the best care available.
It is an absolute pleasure to support your husband through this journey, thank you for your kind words of recognition and encouragement. I will share your review with the team in RAV.
Zetland Court is a lovely home set in beautiful grounds. The staff are all cheerful, caring and professional. Mum is always saying how lovely they all are and how well she is being looked after. She enjoys the company of both the staff, the volunteers and the other residents. She particularly looks forward to being able to treat herself and has her hair done once a week, in the onsite hair salon. She joins in with many of the activities that are arranged and enjoys the weekly residents' meeting in the large lounge with the home manager. The food is generally quite good although there have been some occasions recently where it has not been as good but I understand that Zetland Court are aware of some issues with the catering and is working to improve this. I would definitely recommend Zetland Court and thank you for looking after Mum so well.
Thank you for taking the time to send a review, your positive comments are much appreciated. You are right to mention issues with our catering, we are very much aware of this and we are working with the catering company to bring the required improvements needed and consistency in the quality of meals provided. Once again thank you for your review and your recommendation.
We are writing this to tell you what lovely, compassionate and helpful colleagues you have at Zetland Court. From day one we were made to feel as if we were one of a family. The care our stepfather at 100 years old received was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble even though he had only a short time in your care home. We even asked if he could have his last days back in his room after having a day in hospital which he did. Your administration, catering and care teams are a credit to you, nothing was too much trouble. We know now we should have arranged for him to be a resident much earlier and perhaps he would have reached his 101 birthday. All your care much appreciated.
Thank you so much, your kind, positive comments are really an encouragement. It was our absolute pleasure to get to know and care for your Stepfather, even for such a short time. On behalf of all the team at Zetland Court, thank you.
My mother is receiving the best care possible and is coming up to her 101st birthday. Ever since she came to Zetland Court she has been looked after very well and I can only praise the dedication and kindness of the staff.
Dear Sir, on behalf of the whole team and especially those in Red Admiral, thank you for your kind words. It is always a great encouragement when the team receive feedback. We look forward to your mother celebrating her 101st birthday with us.
My mother decided to move in permanently after a trial period. She spent one night back in her old apartment then surprised everyone by arriving at Zetland Court in a taxi to ask if her room was still free. She feels really at home out on the veranda enjoying the garden and in the lounges and has stopped worrying about day-to-day organization. She enjoys the contact with other people at meals and activities. The opportunity to video call her is vital to me as I live abroad and I particularly look forward to seeing photos of her on social media. I spent many weeks visiting Mum at Zetland and we are both convinced she has made the best choice. A lovely carer accompanies her to hospital appointments. All the employees and volunteers, eg in the office, restaurant, care team, cleaning, technicians and laundry work so hard to create a respectful, caring, safe and fun atmosphere, thank you!
On behalf of the whole team, I would like to thank you for your kind, positive words. It is a pleasure to support your mother through this new stage in her life, she brings a lot of warmth and joy to the home.
My mother went for a 3-week visit extended by several more weeks as she broke her wrist in a fall. The fall was no one's fault but Mum needed more assistance in toileting, mobility and personal care. The staff whilst welcoming and busy seemed to be overstretched. For example, whilst mum had no continence issues she was made to wear incontinence wear as they seemed to have insufficient staff to be able to assist her in moving to the toilet. What I felt was detrimental to her dignity and staff attitude was why are you ringing when you have a pad on? On a couple of occasions I saw no staff during my whole visit, is there any check on people entering the building? A secure door opens when you ring but I could wander about anywhere unchallenged. This is a lovely building, room that was always clean, activity sheet seemed to be repeated every week though, I was not present enough to judge properly. No, I do not want Mum to return, it is going to take weeks to get her back as she was, if we can.
Please accept my apologies, I am very saddened to read your comments describing your experience and feelings of Zetland Court. This is not a person's normal reaction to the home and for this reason I shall be investigating some of the claims you have shared. I would be very happy to meet with you...
I find the staff at the Red Admiral Wing to be very friendly, helpful and most importantly caring. They look after my mum very well and indeed have taken good care of her for the last 8 years. The home is always clean and tidy and there are lots of activities laid on to stimulate those being cared for. I feel the staff go to great lengths to make the home a very happy place to be.
On behalf of the team working in Red Admiral, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write and send such a warm positive review. It is always encouraging when the staff receive heartfelt compliments, very much appreciated.
The team have made her feel very much at home and went out of their way to make her transition comfortable and stress-free.
Having been there for the last six months, Mum is so much happier, she is eating well and has gained a little weight at last. She very much feels part of the community and thoroughly enjoys all the activities.
I cannot thank the team there enough, my mother is really enjoying her life there and at 99 years old, it is exactly where she wants to be!
The staff are always smiling and happy to help, so very kind and patient.
We know how difficult it can be to make the transition to living in a care community, so it is wonderful to hear that your mother is enjoying her life here with us, that is our overall aim for each resident. On behalf of all the team at Zetland Court, I would like to thank you for your kind review and words of encouragement. I will make sure this review is shared with the team.

Meet the Team (1)

I lead by example and I’m very passionate about dementia care being centred on the person rather than the environment. I believe any person should be encouraged to lead their care with support.
I have been involved in dementia care for over 30 years. I joined RMBI Care Co. in 2020 as a Dementia Lead, and I continuously seek training and peer support to enhance the lives of those living with dementia.I am an advocate for any person with dementia and extend this to our communities, where I carry out awareness sessions to promote outstanding dementia care.
My saying is a person first, dementia second.
