At Horsfall House we can provide free respite care partnered with The Stroud Hospitals League of Friends. Eligibility is not based on means, but upon clinical need and being registered with one of the 11 local GP practices covering the Stroud area.

Horsfall House have been looking after my father for almost 2 years now, and looked after my mum at the end of her life. It is an incredible place with a home from home feeling. The staff are incredible - nothing is too much trouble and they look after my Dad so well. There is a lovely family feel to the home. The residents are respected, cared for and treated with dignity and compassion. It's such a lovely place and it's so comforting knowing that Dad is happy and so well looked after.

Horsfall House is an extremely caring and supportive environment. My father has been a resident here for nearly two years, and he is very happy here. The staff are wonderful, they look after him extremely well, and nothing is too much trouble. From the moment you walk into Reception, where you are warmly greeted by the friendly receptionists, through to the lovely carers, nurses, admin staff and even the handy man, everyone at Horsfall House is friendly and makes the place feel so warm and welcoming. My father is very well looked after, and his family know that he is safe and happy. I have dreaded visiting some care homes, but I genuinely really enjoy visiting Dad at Horsfall House. The staff are the greatest asset, and make this place a real home from home for its residents and visitors. Thankyou Horsfall, I really don't know how we would manage without you.

I am very happy with the care my mother receives. The staff are kind and approachable and genuinely seem to care about her needs. Mum is always treated with respect and I also feel supported. There is a clear sense of good team spirit across the whole home, from the care and nursing teams to reception, office, domestic, catering, maintenance and activities staff. Most carers are permanent and when needed a regular agency is used so they also know the residents well.
The purpose-built home is clean and safe, with accessible outdoor spaces, enclosed courtyards and extensive gardens. I am always warmly welcomed at reception and queries are dealt with promptly.

The activities team provides a variety of activities, particularly music and singing, which Mum really enjoys. Seeing her respond to the music gives me great comfort. There is a warm, positive atmosphere between staff, residents and families

My uncle and aunt moved to Horsfall House recently. I cannot speak highly enough of the care they have received. The staff are all absolutely lovely, kind, gentle and helpful. My aunt has now died there, her end of life care was superb, I was so impressed with the way she was looked after. They have continued to care for my uncle and have really helped him in his bereavement. Nothing is too much trouble and the wonderful attitude of everyone working at Horsfall is a pleasure to see.

Horsfall is a lovely and friendly residential home the staff are very caring and attentive to their residents. The space inside is excellent as well as grounds outside are very well maintained. The gardens are beautiful for the residents too.

My husband has been cared for superbly for two and a half years now, following a massive stroke. The nurses pay great attention to his many needs, liaising with doctors and the hospital. The carers are attentive (and affectionate I think) both with him and me. I receive great support from all staff when times are difficult from management to cleaners! The premises are cheerful, welcoming and kept very clean, a wonderful home for my husband and all the care he receives.

The care staff at Horsfall House are very kind, attentive and supportive. Residents are treated with dignity and respect. When call bells are rung, they are dealt with straight away. Some homes I have visited have bells ringing almost continuously, which is very annoying and frustrating for the residents. When I have raised queries with management, they have been responded to very quickly. My mum feels able to question staff if she is dissatisfied, and has had a sympathetic response. When she complained about food being too salty, the chef went to see her to listen to her complaint.
Horsfall is always clean and does not have a distinctive aroma. Hygiene standards are good.
The receptionists are always welcoming and take a genuine interest in the residents and their families. Management staff know the residents and are available for a chat. Activities could be organised better. Mum is still very able mentally and she would like more challenging activities.

A team of compassionate and knowledgeable carers who gave her her self-confidence back and something to look forward to every day. She met others, laughed lots and even ate well, a huge problem for her at home. I can't thank them enough for being there for both of us.
