Our mother suffered from dementia and was admitted six years ago.
I can honestly say that the care she received was brilliant. The care staff were extremely caring, and it was obvious they enjoyed their job by the love they expressed. So much so that our family had no concerns that Mum was getting
the best possible care.

After years of living independently, my mother needed care and attention due to her advancing dementia.
She arrived lonely, frightened and worried, but the care and compassion shown by all the staff helped her settle down.
During all of my visits and calls, it was evident that the warm relationships
with carers, medics, support staff and management were genuine. It meant a great deal to know, just by the tone of the banter, that my mother was enjoying the company of others in a friendly, safe environment.
Importantly, medical ailments and treatment options were discussed early with respect and dignity.
Occasionally, there were minor slip-ups, but the response was honest, and any issues were addressed promptly, which reinforced my appreciation of the service by Hunters.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Hunters.

My husband was in Hunters Care Home for three weeks before his death, and during that time, received good palliative care and kindness. I, too, was very grateful for the kindness and compassion of the staff.

I came for a period to convalesce following a hip replacement. I arrived feeling very tired and sore. The staff quickly made me feel welcome and the nutritious meals have, over the week, had strengthened me considerably. The care shown to me has been excellent. Eating in the dining room is a lovely
way to meet people and have a chat. The furnishings of both the bedroom and bathroom are of a good standard and the setting with the garden surrounding this home is relaxing. The home is well-managed and very competently run and should the need arise, I would be very happy to return.

My mother spent 9 days of respite at Barchester Hunters Care Home. the experience for my mother and family was truly superb.
All the staff were engaging and caring and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The always made time to engage with Mum and make her feel she was their only resident.
Highly

Our mum came to Hunters Care Home in Cirencester in April 2015, suffering from dementia and no longer able to live at home due to her deteriorating condition. Whilst the transition from her own home was difficult, the staff worked really hard to settle her and make her feel at home and she quickly
adapted to her new environment. As a family of 3 daughters we have visited Mum frequently and regularly and have nothing but praise for the staff who have cared for her throughout her stay. All of the team on Memory Lane have been very caring, informative and always available. Most importantly we know she has been loved and cared for by those with the expertise and support she needed. Nothing has ever been too much trouble and we are eternally thankful that she was able to live the final years of her life in such a supportive and caring home. Thank you to all those who knew and who looked after her; as a family, we are all truly grateful.

A very well-run establishment and a credit to the management. Attractive grounds and well maintained. The care home interior is bright and cheerful. Plenty of areas to sit and relax and good quality furniture. Extremely pleased with the care received overall. The nursing element is first class.

My mother moved into Hunters Care Home some three and a half years ago, already suffering from advanced dementia. She passed away very recently in her 98th year.
I wish to say how grateful I am to all the staff I have encountered at Hunters for their consistent and genuine care and kindness in dealing
with my mother. If I had to pick anyone out I would say a particular thank you to the clinical lead for Memory Lane and to the general manager both of whom have unendingly supported both my mother and myself to a very high standard.
To all of Hunters' staff, thank you so much for making my mother's last years comfortable and bearable. I would unconditionally recommend Hunters to anyone looking for a first-class care home.

I wanted to express my thanks to especially the chef and the receptionist for organising a birthday tea party for my friend. She has not seen her friends for some time and following my instructions a great deal of effort was made to make the event memorable and my friend was overwhelmed with emotion.

When I visited Hunters Care Home to look around, I was impressed by the lovely receptionist who was both friendly and helpful. They have continued to be so throughout Mum's stay and it makes a large impact to be greeted by someone so kind. Everyone else has been similarly generous with smiles and help.

Throughout mum's respite stay, she has felt secure and cared for. She has maintained as much independence as possible whilst still being fully supported by the very caring staff. Unfortunately, a Covid outbreak during her stay meant too much time in a relatively small bedroom, but apart from that she
has enjoyed and been encouraged to participate in a variety of activities. The whole team have been supportive and flexible during a difficult time for our family.

My dad went into Memory Lane at the end of December 2022, and my mum went into the general area in January 2023. It was an extremely stressful time for us all, but the care of the staff made it a better experience. From the manager down, the staff are very empathetic and caring. My parents are very
well looked after and safe, which made the tough decision to put them in care easier.

The general manager has been a delight to deal with, nothing is too much trouble and he is immediately responsive. My mother was a very reluctant arrival but is settling well and engaging with everything. The home is beautifully appointed and my parent's room is very comfy and modern. Delicious food,
which I am looking forward to sampling! Fantastic activities and a really active on social media so we can see our folks enjoying everything! Such a relief - thank you!

My 97 yr old father with dementia had an emergency admission on the afternoon of 23.12.22 - having contacted the care home only that morning. The manager came and assessed him immediately and arranged for transport to pick him up. He was admitted to a clean room with good facilities. His clothes and
belongings were immediately tagged. The nursing staff looking after him were kind and attentive and cheerful. They made him comfortable and undertook regular observation. On 25.12 he was ready to come to us for Christmas lunch by 10.30 am. Unfortunately on the evening of the 27th, he deteriorated further. He required quite a lot of input from the senior nurses overnight, who arranged for him to be seen by the paramedics and then the on-call doctor for the area.
The family had already decided that aggressive treatment was futile in my father's case - so he remained in the nursing home receiving exemplary end-of-life care. We were made to feel welcome and were able to stay until he died.

My mother spent the last 6 months of her life at Hunters Lodge. She had just lost her husband and had become very confused and upset. She came for respite care initially but we knew she couldn't cope alone in her apartment. She moved to Hunters permanently to be near me and had a beautiful newly refurbished
room which opened out onto the courtyard. She loved the outdoors so much and this was really important for her. She had a lovely summer in the courtyard, eating outside and socialising with her new friends. She had really started to settle, join in activities and make friendships.
From the beginning, all the staff were amazing caring and welcoming to my mother and us. It was good to know she was safe, warm and well-fed. Hunter's lodge is a very special place because of the wonderful staff. They cared so well for Mum and since her death, they have also cared for me.

We would like to say a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who knew and cared for our lovely Dad on Memory Lane, who sadly left us all on Thursday 1st September. His long struggle with dementia is finally over but his spirit will live on.
My Dad received so much love and respect from everyone, it
will never be forgotten. Hunters became his home but you all became his second family, he loved you all as did we.
It takes somebody special to do the job that you all do. You can't learn it from a book, it's either in your heart or not. You are all amazing people and we will miss seeing you all. Thank you again for everything that you did for Dad and for your massive support and kindness when he passed away.

Hunters Care Home provided care for my mum in what turned out to be the last week of her life.
We knew when organising a place for her it would be end-of-life care, and the home manager was so supportive and helpful in guiding me through the process.
They responded quickly to my mum's needs and went
above and beyond to speed up her admission.
Once at Hunters, the staff were so caring and compassionate and were happy to respond to any requests.
They treated my mum with care and respect and made me feel comfortable in what was an incredibly difficult and emotional time.
I can’t thank the staff enough; they do an amazing job, and the management was so supportive and responsive. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I have built a strong and dedicated team and our focus is to provide person-centred care for all residents where they are treated with respect and dignity. I am committed to not only maintaining the highest standards of care but also ensuring residents are living fulfilling lives.


I began my career in nursing over 10 years ago working in A&E. I enjoy working in a care home as I can build relationships with the residents and their families. For anyone considering care for themselves or a loved one, our doors are open for you to visit and meet the team.

Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme focuses on mind, body and soul and this will be the team's aim in all that we offer our residents in terms of regular activities as well as special events.

Before this, I spent three years as an electrician. I am also the primary carer for my son, who has Autism, which has given me an insight into the care sector. I am committed to providing residents, their families, staff and visitors a safe and welcoming home in which to live, visit and work.
