Overall Experience

My uncle moved into Calway House in September 2015 and my aunty in January 2016. It was important that they were able to stay together. My aunty has dementia and is in the secure unit but my uncle can visit her whenever he wants to. They are very well cared for and are both happy. They have lovely en-suite rooms. The food is very good. My uncle joins in the activities that are organised.

Overall Experience

My mother entered Calway House nursing wing two and a half years ago. In that time Calway House has nursed her back to being able to live a far better standard of life than before. She requires a sodium drop every other night, its this level of nursing care, that enables her to enjoy her family who visit regularly. The staff, management, nurses and especially the health car assistants make it as homely as possible also the activity staff arrange numerous things to provide stimulation including trips out. On top of everything the hairdresser (in house ) keeps them looking good.

Overall Experience

My mother was at Calway House for 16 and a half years, first in the Residential wing and for the last 20 months in the Nursing wing. Both she and I have had the most wonderful relationship with all the staff, admin, nurses, carers and cleaners alike, and the care, warmth and understanding they have all showed us throughout has been exemplary. My mother died peacefully on 28th January in the best possible place she could be at the end of her life. I cannot thank the staff enough. I never had a moment's concern over her care and would recommend the home to anyone.

Overall Experience
Coming into a care home was not a wanted or expected situation and the idea distressed the whole family, we were very pleasantly surprised at our experience so far. My father has been treated with dignity and care, encouraged to maintain normal life and we have been made very welcome.

We have had one concern with one weekend but when our concerns were raised the manager addressed it and replied immediately. Virtually all the staff are excellent and those that are not stand out massively.

Sue Harvey
Sue HarveyJob Title:Registered Manager

I like to think of Calway House as being like a little village community. Every resident is a valued member of our community and every resident milestone is a collective cause for celebration. Whether it’s a 99th birthday, Mother’s Day or Christmas, we mark every special occasion together.

I absolutely love working in care – and I’ve often said that I will never retire from this job, I will just move in to Calway House as a resident!

This role has given me the opportunity to make a real difference – I can ensure that all of our residents have a brilliant quality of life, and support and motivate the staff to create a really happy home for those in our care. Old certainly doesn’t mean past it, and pandemic or no pandemic, I get to help Calway House residents live their lives to the full.
