Gotton Manor care home provides residential, nursing, palliative care and dementia care for up to 60 older people, from respite stays to long-term residence.

This beautiful home was once a manor house; it has been refurbished with tasteful, modern decoration and continues to be surrounded by acres of countryside. It is a 10-minute drive into the town of Taunton, Somerset, where residents can access shops, amenities and a railway station.

Each bedroom is single, most have en-suite facilities and all have television points. The lounge still features the manor’s original open hearth and a piano. There are plenty of sociable dining areas which look out onto the rolling countryside.

Residents are supported to pursue their own hobbies or join in with group activities and outings. Food is home-cooked and nutritionally balanced, with dietary requirements catered for and support in eating and drinking if needed.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms, bringing with them a little piece of 'home' with them, when they move in.

Dad was at Gotton Manor for two and a half years. He quickly settled in, and joined in with activities. When we saw him, he was always happy. The staff were always very friendly and happy to help. He had excellent care, right up to the very end. I would recommend This nursing/care home, as both sides
were very caring and very welcoming. He always talked highly of the staff.

Our Dad unfortunately needed full time care. As daughters we all found the change quite difficult to deal with, as I'm sure many others do! Gotten Manors support with ourselves as well as our Dad was exceptional, we had supportive advice, care and understanding. Our Dad settled in with time, and now
embraces the carers and other residents. He's always aloud to make his own choices, they encourage with care and compassion. Thank you to all of worker's at Gotten Manor
Reply from Janine Marshall, Registered Manager at Gotton Manor Care HomeThank you for your review. How wonderful to hear how Dad has settled into Gotton Manor and the staff encourage own choices. It is always reassuring to hear how family members are also supported with these difficult transitions. Thank you.

Gotton Manor has been extremely helpful in providing accommodation to both my mother and aunty. The building is old and creaky but this more than made up for by the courtesy and care of the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. After being there a week my Mum's laundry hadn't been collected despite
my asking several times.
Reply from Janine Marshall, Registered Manager at Gotton Manor Care HomeThank you for your review. It is wonderful that you have chosen Gotton Manor for your aunty and your mother. It is lovely to hear that the staff and cleanliness of the home make up for characteristic's of the old building. Apologies for the laundry collection, we hope this issue is now resolved. Thank you.

Always welcomed, all staff professional + polite - my father is looked after + I feel his needs are met - cleanliness of the home needs a little work? - Sticky floors in main area + looks a little tired + grubby - no hand gel available for visitors - newly decorated dementia area excellent - clocks
displaying wrong time (main lounge) + often staff unable to find remote for TV - otherwise excellent care - my father is happy here - I dont think his needs to be improved - staff amazing - we feel part of Gotton family thank you.

The most beautiful care/nursing home aswell as the most beautiful views. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make sure family and loved ones are very well looked after aswell as us as as a family. After pulling my nan out of a dreadful residential care home and visiting Gotton Manor, I
new we had made the right decision. The home its self is warm, very clean and feels like home from home. The bedrooms are beautiful and well equiped for all needs and they all have lovely views of the countryside. We visit weekly and my nan is always full of smiles, always looks clean and fresh, hair and nails done beautifuly and always dressed lovely. The food is freshly cooked and served beautifully and tastes great. Weve had meals there for special occasions. I used to be a hca at a nursing home so ive seen some sights but I cant fault Gotton manor and the amazing staff who really work so hard and care so deeply .

Mum has a difficult time settling in but the staff particularly Glenrose worked so hard to settle her in. It was a very difficult and sad time made so much better by Glenrose and her lovely staff. They are so kind and patient. Today when I arrived mum was waving and smiling and happy and chatty. It
means that I can now leave knowing she is ok. Akarsh and the others are just lovely, Thanks for making mum smile.

To be fair, I am quite able both mentally and physically. I have a considerable autonomy within the home courtesy of the home manager. I do, however, need some care and service. My answers to the items listed, I have balanced with the general observation of the service other residents receive. I believe
that the most impressive examples are through requests to the management staff. I have always found a willingness to listen to proposals to implement change when it would seem viable and offer care improvement. I have lived in this home happily for 7 years.
Reply from Janine Marshall, Registered Manager at Gotton Manor Care HomeThank you for your review. It is good to get information first hand from residents of the home. Gotton Manor Care Home staff are excellent, very attentive and friendly. There are plenty of organised activities and opportunities to interact with the other residents if you wish. Music and books available in the main lounge and my mothers room is modern, well painted and clean with excellent ensuite
facility. Food of a high standard, nutritional and tailored to suit your dietary requirements . Gotton Manor located in a beautiful setting with stunning views over Corfe and surrounding hills.

I am delighted to leave a review for the team at Gotton Manor. Everytime i visit i am greeted with a warm welcome. My Aunt has been there since May and is very happy and settled now. She is well cared for and the staff treat her with respect and dignity.

My husbands cousin has been at Gotton Manor

since Sept 2016. Which in itself is testament to the wonderful care given by all in the team. She is always treated with respect and dignity and with a wonderful sense of fun. She has thrived hence being in her 9th year. Thankyou all

Both of my parents are now living at Gotton Manor Coach House and I am so happy with their care. Yes, the building is tired and in need of a lot of work, but the care and respect that the staff have for the residents outweighs all that, they really do seem to be like one big happy family and I often
hear them all chattering and having fun together and with the residents.
Dad can be quite a tricky chap but everyone is so very patient with him and he (despite his best efforts) has slowly settled in. It's helped that Mum joined him in December as they could be together again. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with the staff and the other residents, which was lovely. Also, when my daughter got married last month, the home management arranged for a carer to accompany Mum to the wedding for the day, which made all the difference to us as we could enjoy having her there with us without worrying about her well being. She had a lovely day!
Thank you Gotton Manor

Mum came to Gotton Manor from another care home , it was a better move for us all , no more long commutes , Mum arrived in August 2024 , in a very hot month , was made welcomed and soon adjusted to the different routine and timings . Mum was well looked after and although didn't join in much socially
, there was always something to do in the afternoon .
Well mums favourite , the food , was excellent very high quality and very well prepared by staff , no names but we all know the chef lol ....
Mums room was airy and light and laid out to her needs , she had patio doors which she could have open on sunny days . Sadly Mum lost mobility and found everything hard , but she had her tv which she loved .
Breakfast , morning coffee , lunch , afternoon coffee and usually cake lol , evening meal , always served hot and she never faulted it .
The staff, mum becomes very attached to her carers, i cant name them but a few had a special place in her heart and ours xx
Thank you

This is a beautiful heritage building with outstanding views. The staff are just so friendly and welcoming and they always have time to update you on your loved one staying there or for any questions you need answered. The building smells fresh and no odours like other homes I've visited. The building
is warm, homely and bright. My daughter and I are so pleased that our family member is staying here. We've noticed a big difference in her, she's happy and most importantly she's made friends who apparently sit together most of the time especially meal times. There's activities on a monthly plan. The food is very good and my mum can't get enough. Her room is quaint with open beams and the outlook is overlooking the patio with seating and pot plants and up over the hills. My daughter and I feel so happy and we're treated like part of the family. We would highly recommend this beautiful care home.

My first impression of Gotton Manor Care Home, apart from its beautiful location was how clean it is and how friendly and welcoming the staff are. We spent a few hours with my brother and I was impressed with the dignity he was afforded in his personal care and the quality of the care he received during
our visit.
The afternoon entertainment was very good the day we visited - a good old sing-along! I would have liked to stay longer but we had an impending two-and-a-half-hour journey to return home by 4.30.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2020

Hello, my name is Janine. I am the Home Manager at Gotton Manor Care Home. I have been the home manager at Gotton Manor since February 2021.

I started my career in care in 1998, working as a care assistant in a local nursing home. Over the years, I have worked in community care, nursing homes, and residential homes, and whilst I worked for a care agency, I did HCA shifts in hospitals and hospices.

I have put my all into working my way up the ranks, and I was working in supervisory and Deputy Managers posts for over 10 years before becoming a manager.

Since working with our fantastic team at Gotton Manor Care Home, I have felt nothing but welcomed and supported both in-house and by the rest of the Harbour Healthcare team.

I am passionate about our residents receiving person-centred care, and I am very proud of our beautiful home and amazing views.
