Gotton Manor care home provides residential, nursing, palliative care and dementia care for up to 60 older people, from respite stays to long-term residence.

This beautiful home was once a manor house; it has been refurbished with tasteful, modern decoration and continues to be surrounded by acres of countryside. It is a 10-minute drive into the town of Taunton, Somerset, where residents can access shops, amenities and a railway station.

Each bedroom is single, most have en-suite facilities and all have television points. The lounge still features the manor’s original open hearth and a piano. There are plenty of sociable dining areas which look out onto the rolling countryside.

Residents are supported to pursue their own hobbies or join in with group activities and outings. Food is home-cooked and nutritionally balanced, with dietary requirements catered for and support in eating and drinking if needed.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms, bringing with them a little piece of 'home' with them, when they move in.

Dad lived at Gotton Manor Care Home from September 2022 to November 2023. I visited Dad there in September, October and November 2022 and in March, August and September 2023. I was always satisfied that Dad, who had dementia was being well looked after, even though my visiting times varied and were
unannounced I never once heard staff raise voices nor saw any unpleasant attitudes, nor found unpleasant smells. I phoned often from France and the management and nursing staff always took the time to answer my questions. The food was plentiful and tasty too. Although many of the care staff were not born in the UK, we'd talk about how the elderly were cared for by family in their home countries and it was obvious that they were offering that level of care to Dad. After Dad died I realised my loss was their loss too and we cried together as if they were family. For me, care is much more important than buildings but when the lift broke down, the staff found solutions to get the residents to the dining room and communal areas.

First impression was my room was like a prison cell, no pictures, no TV or radio and no WiFi connection, so I was totally cut off from the outside world. I requested to be moved after two weeks and my new room was much better, with a TV and WiFi. The nursing staff were all very kind and looked after
me well. The physio team got me back on my feet and mobile enough to go home again. The meals and other staff were great, although meal times were hit and miss.

The lady from the therapy team has helped me a lot with my walking and putting equipment into my flat for when I go home. The food is lovely. All carers and nurses make sure I'm clean and have assistance when I need it. Have throughout enjoyed my stay here, and it has built my confidence up to go home.

I cannot recommend this home highly enough. The transition for my mum into a nursing home has been huge, but I cannot believe how incredible the staff have been helping Mum settle. It feels like family every time I visit the home. Staff provide excellent nursery care and really truly care about the
residents, along with excellent management staff too. We, as a family, can't speak highly enough of the service, care and nursing at Gotton Manor Care Home. I applaud all the staff and thank them for their kindness. You're all amazing.

I have been a resident at the care home for approximately six years. In that time, and particularly with the current management, I have been treated with dignity and respect. There have been instances of concern to myself which have been resolved to my satisfaction. The food provided is and has always
been to a high standard, allergies and preferences are catered for. The ratings I have selected reflect the majority experience and do not include individual lesser experiences.

My mother was discharged from the hospital and transferred to Gotton Manor Care Home with very little physical strength in her movement after being in bed for six weeks in the hospital. The staff at Gotton Manor Care Home were so lovely to Mum and attended to her physical needs and helped her get her
strength back with excellent help from the physiotherapy team, who got her back on her feet with the help of her frame. The care she got was excellent from the care team to the manager, who couldn't do enough for her and us as a family. Unfortunately, while Mum was in the care home her husband died which put so much pressure on Mum and us, the whole team was so understanding of the situation we were in and accommodated our needs to help Mum. Thank you all very much, we won't forget what you have done for us. 10/10. Thank you.

My mother was a resident at Gotton Manor from June 2021 to January 2022. The care they gave her was extremely professional and empathetic. I could see she was very fond of those that looked after her directly, as were my wife and I too.
The home was kept clean and maintained to a very high standard.
I also felt that every member of staff was working hard for the benefit of the residents.
I wish them well in the future.

The staff are all very good and very obliging and willing to help out with any requests. The food is excellent and I am really pleased to say that all meals are very good and that has been the case throughout the year that I've lived here. The setting of Gotton Manor is wonderful and I have a lovely

Mum joined Gotton Manor residents in May '21 having lost her husband of 70 years in August '20, difficult times. Gotton is going through a total refurb and is being managed to a very high standard, very clean, comfortable, nice food and very helpful, attentive, knowledgeable staff, approachable making
this route in difficult times seem less daunting. The outside space is much improved also giving the home a nice feel. I feel lucky there was a room available when I needed it.

As a family, we attended our aunt's 100th birthday celebration on the 1st of October 2021. Gotton provided a singer and a cake for our aunt and made us most welcome to enjoy this event with her on the day whilst taking care to check our Covid status and ensuring safe distancing protocols. Hello, my name is Janine. I am the Home Manager at Gotton Manor Care Home.


I started my career in care over 20 years ago, working as a care assistant in a local nursing home. Over the years, I have worked in community care, nursing homes, and residential homes, and whilst I worked for a care agency, I did HCA shifts in hospitals and hospices.


I have put my all into working my way up the ranks and I have been working in supervisory and Deputy Managers posts over the last 10 years.


Since working with our fantastic team at Gotton Manor Care Home, I have felt nothing but welcomed and supported both in-house and by the rest of the Harbour Healthcare team.


I am passionate about our residents receiving person-centred care and I am very proud of our beautiful home and amazing views.

I started working at Gotton Manor in February 2021 as a data input support worker, registering our resident’s and staff’s Covid-19 tests. Since then, I have taken on roles such as being a Kitchen Assistant, Admin Assistant and Activities Assistant, before working my way up to the home Administrator role whilst currently working on my level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship. I have loved every second, getting to know the lovely residents and working along side our amazing team!
