Everyone appears very happy. Staff and clients rooms appear nice and well kept. Mum has settled well, which was a big surprise to me. Clients including my mum are well dressed and clean.

Always informed of weekly activities and events.

My Father is in the home and is very well looked after in terms of health and well being.
The Staff remain constant with their attention and care to all the residents and offer excellent mental stimulation with a variety of activities.
As personal requirements change, staff flex individual needs easily
and seamlessly.
Dad is certainly a happier person knowing there is always someone close by to checkin on him and also to communicate with.
The home is always clean and has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, a credit to Florin and team concerned with the day to day running of the home.

On the whole staff are welcoming,friendly & helpful. It would be nice if staff could pop into a room just to say Hello now & again throughout the day.
For residents with immobility and not wanting to mix this would help break up the day for them.

Yet another visit where staff were friendly and helpful. The home was clean and inviting as always. Mum had moved rooms recently because of a problem with her bed, I was kept informed and told when she had returned. I would like to thank you all for your hard work it is appreciated.

I just wanted to write this review as I am so pleased that my father-in-law was able to be a resident at Oak Lodge. He has a lovely room, with an en suite toilet (though he is unable to use it sadly). But my main reason for the review is the staff who look after him or just pop by to say hello. I am
so impressed with them all, they are cheerful, smiley, he has a laugh and a joke with them and they treat him kindly and with respect and for that reason I just had to write this, I can't commend them highly enough, thank you to all.

The care provided to my mum was fantastic and staff were always kind and cheerful, going the extra mile at times to make sure things were as good as they could be right to the end. Living a long way away, it made a huge difference to know she was in good hands and that I didn't have to worry. Our whole
family felt well supported by the staff. The rooms are not big but the care more than overweighs this. 100% recommend.

My mother spent several months at Oaklodge, and we were very pleased with the level of care she received. The staff were caring, friendly, and attentive, always ensuring her well-being. The food was plentiful and of good quality, and the team were supportive throughout her stay. There were regular organized
activities, and while my mother wasn't always enthusiastic about joining in, she was consistently encouraged to participate. I would recommend Oaklodge, especially for individuals with more advanced dementia, as I have no doubt they will be safe, well looked after, and treated with kindness.

The staff at this care home work really hard and are amazing with my sister. I feel that some form of outings to places/shops would be lovely and benefit some of the residents. Meals repetitive. Maybe a trifle or fruit and jelly for dessert or tea. More staff needed as after lunch a lot of the residents
are left struggling while waiting to be taken to the toilet. Luckily my sister is not needing that help at the moment.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are currently in the process of having a minibus on a regular basis. This will enable us to take our residents out on day trips. As the weather has got better, the activity team have been taking some residents to the local shops and caffes. Soon we will change our menus to spring/summer ones. We are welcoming residents and family members to have their input. Fresh fruits are served on a daily basis. We are using a dependency tool to ensure accurate and sufficient staff are deployed on each shift in order to meet all our residents needs. At present the tool shows that our staffing levels are above upper average.If at any time you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

My husband is really kindly looked after at Oak Lodge. The staff are happy + friendly and this is so good for family + visitors. He loves the food which is excellent. I cannot speak too highly of the home.

Mum's always been looked after very well and treated lovely by all staff. She's been poorly lately and the staff have rallied around and made her life so much better. Living miles away now it is so lovely to see photos of her on Facebook looking so well when you can't physically be there as much as

I sadly have to say my piece as an ex employee at Oak Lodge. 5 months ago I put my 96 year old mother into the home as she found living at home too much for her to cope due to mobility issues with i.e. stairs and not being able to have a bath/shower. I told her what a lovely place it was and she would
be very well looked after. The home as a whole is very nicely kept and clean with plenty of activities to keep residents occupied.
However ..... the first week mum was there she lost weight. Since then she has done nothing but complain to me about the food and in turn I have complained to the management/ kitchen staff. Nothing has changed and for a while now mum has been vomiting regularly and finds it difficult to eat the food. I usually go in to visit her around dinner time and have to say I have been disgusted by the food - burnt, tough meat, black roast potatoes, tiny portions and generally very unappetising. I find this totally unacceptable considering what she has to pay monthly.

Such a lovely, welcoming home where our friend is living now. She always seems so happy and is obviously well cared for at Oak Lodge. The staff are very relaxed and seem happy too which gives a good indication of the atmosphere of the place.

Mum is thriving in the home. The staff are fantastic, and the entertainment team are keeping the residents stimulated. I find this fantastic for all in the home. My mum is eating better than she has in a long time.
I can not fault the care Mum needs 24-hour care now, we are sad that she has to be in
nursing care but we are fully aware it is what's needed.

I have been qualified as a nurse since 1995. I have 14 years of experience as a Registered Manager for care services. I decided to go into nursing due to my passion for helping people. I am passionate about developing relationships with people in long-term care placements.


I pride myself in being hands-on in my role and ensuring that I develop good relationships with residents, families, and team members to ensure people are safe and well looked after. I also like to make sure we are delivering high-quality person-centred care.

I joined the Oak Lodge Care Home team in March 2018, having previously worked for an advertising agency for 10 years, and also worked for Axminster Carpets as a PA for 9 years.


I enjoy watching horse racing, going to horse shows, dog walking with my little Jack Russell terrier called Bea, and dining out. I am usually the person who answers the phone when you call during office hours and deals with all the administration and paperwork for the home.

Socks the cat has been in charge of the staff and residents at Oak Lodge Care Home for a number of years. He was born on the 18th of February 2012, and it is believed he is a direct descendant of the Sphynx.


Socks' main duties are sleeping, gathering his strength, eating, and looking at the birds in the garden. He is normally found in the laundry where he has a good supply of food, a bowl of fresh water and some very soft, warm blankets to lay upon on top of the tumble drier. He knows instinctively who likes his company, and has made good friends with many staff and residents in the home.


Socks are extremely tolerant of other pets, so there's no issue with residents seeing their families' pets when they come in to visit.
