Mum's always been looked after very well and treated lovely by all staff. She's been poorly lately and the staff have rallied around and made her life so much better. Living miles away now it is so lovely to see photos of her on Facebook looking so well when you can't physically be there as much as
you want to be. A huge thank you to all the staff looking after everyone over Christmas.

I sadly have to say my piece as an ex employee at Oak Lodge. 5 months ago I put my 96 year old mother into the home as she found living at home too much for her to cope due to mobility issues with i.e. stairs and not being able to have a bath/shower. I told her what a lovely place it was and she would
be very well looked after. The home as a whole is very nicely kept and clean with plenty of activities to keep residents occupied.
However ..... the first week mum was there she lost weight. Since then she has done nothing but complain to me about the food and in turn I have complained to the management/ kitchen staff. Nothing has changed and for a while now mum has been vomiting regularly and finds it difficult to eat the food. I usually go in to visit her around dinner time and have to say I have been disgusted by the food - burnt, tough meat, black roast potatoes, tiny portions and generally very unappetising. I find this totally unacceptable considering what she has to pay monthly.
Reply from Clare Mould, Executive Administrator to the Board of Directors at Oak Lodge Care HomeIt's great to hear you find Oak Lodge Care Home to be a lovely and clean care home, and that you feel the activities are plentiful; our residents do love joining in with them! We are sorry to hear of your experience with the catering; we would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that this is being addressed and that work is underway already to make improvements. It's our understanding that the Home Manager has spoken with you about this, but please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any further concerns or questions. Kind regards,

Mum is thriving in the home. The staff are fantastic, and the entertainment team are keeping the residents stimulated. I find this fantastic for all in the home. My mum is eating better than she has in a long time.
I can not fault the care Mum needs 24-hour care now, we are sad that she has to be in
nursing care but we are fully aware it is what's needed.

I have been very impressed with the home from management, administration, nurses and cleaners have been so welcoming to my father and his family. We are impressed with his room, bright looking out onto the garden. It is small, but big enough for his needs. The food Dad enjoys. The care and attention
is wonderful. Thank you to you all.

My wife entered the home in October 2023. The care and attention given to her has been exceptional. We cannot praise the staff enough. I have no hesitation in rating all the boxes as excellent. The home goes over the top with the activities for the residents. If I myself had to use a home in the future,
I would put this home at the top of the list for consideration. Many thanks to all the staff who have helped her settle in so well to her new surroundings.

This is a wonderful home. Have visited quite a few but this by far is the friendliest and most welcoming.
Residents are clearly at the forefront of every member of staff's priority.
I regularly visit at times when the activities are on, I am always welcomed by staff and love to join in with all
the residents. I am always offered a cuppa.

Oak Lodge Care Home is a pleasant, well-run home which provides good standard of personal and nursing care for mainly elderly residents.
Any family concerns are listened to and any appropriate action is taken to resolve issues.
Family and other visitors are all warmly welcomed and their views respected.

Mum recently arrived at Oak Lodge after having had a number of falls at home and several stays in hospital, so unfortunately, was unable to care for herself any longer on her own. Within this short time, the level of care and attention she has received has been exceptional on every level within the
home. Everyone is always welcoming, so kind, warm and friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble. They are accommodating to Mum's individual needs, as well as to other residents. Given this, I would highly recommend Oak Lodge to anyone. I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single member of the staff/team for all their love and support, not only in regards to what Mum receives but towards us as relatives and close family members visiting too. I now have and get great comfort in the knowledge she is settled, happy and being well cared for here by the best. You're all wonderful and always go that extra mile. On behalf of my mum and I, we can't thank you enough.

Due to Covid restrictions and living at distance. I have only visited Oak Lodge Care Home four times since my friend moved in January 2022. On each occasion, the staff were cheerful and willing and any shortfalls I had to voice was addressed quickly. I have just attended the first residents and family
meeting and was most impressed by the manager's request and wishes for the future. I am so glad my friend is there.

Staff at Oak Lodge are patient and caring. New management is now in place with ambitious plans for improving the options offered to residents. Including day trips out and more activities. At first glance the building is a bit dated, for example, tooms do not have ensuite bathing facilities. However,
some improvements are planned and the kindness of staff and friendly atmosphere more than compensate.

Mum has been a resident for a year at Oak Lodge Care Home and she loves it here. Mum is well cared for by all the staff. The carers and staff all go that extra mile to see that she is safe and happy. Mum feels that she is included in all decisions of her care and looks at all the staff and residents
as her own extended family. There are a wide range of activities for Mum to partake in, although Mum doesn't always join in with all of them, as sometimes she prefers to have a nap in her room. Mum loves the food and is always thrilled when they come round with the cups of tea as they always remember that she has lactose free milk with no sugar. Mum loves having her showers with one staff member as in Mum's words "She is so kind, gentle and caring". I would highly recommend Oak Lodge to anyone. We know that Mum is well looked after, safe and happy, and that means everything to us. Thank you to everyone at Oak lodge.
Reply from Andrew Kirby, Home Manager at Oak Lodge Care HomeThanks Susan for taking time to write a very comprehensive review which I will of course share with all the staff. My mum was admitted to Oak Lodge after falling over at home a few times and could no longer safely stay at home. The manager was helpful in getting a room available for my mum. All staff are very friendly and helpful. when we were viewing Oak Lodge and have been since. A few teething problems with
food. with what food Mum liked/disliked but this has been rectified. Mum even has played bingo, which is a first.
Reply from Andrew Kirby, Home Manager at Oak Lodge Care HomeHi Tony, and thank you for reviewing our home. Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.644)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.644) out of 10 for Oak Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.644 for Oak Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (226 Excellents x 5) + (75 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 315 Ratings = 4.644
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Lodge Care Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I work with Florin and the other team members at Oak Lodge Cre Home to ensure all the residents have a perfect day, every day!

Hi, my name is Di. I am the Administrator at Oak Lodge Care Home.

I joined the Oak Lodge Care Home team in March 2018, having previously worked for an advertising agency for 10 years, and also worked for Axminster Carpets as a PA for 9 years.

I enjoy watching horse racing, going to horse shows, dog walking with my little Jack Russell terrier called Bea, and dining out. I am usually the person who answers the phone when you call during office hours and deals with all the administration and paperwork for the home.

Socks the Cat

Job Title: The Boss Joined: 2012

Socks the cat has been in charge of the staff and residents at Oak Lodge Care Home for a number of years. He was born on the 18th of February 2012, and it is believed he is a direct descendant of the Sphynx.

Socks' main duties are sleeping, gathering his strength, eating, and looking at the birds in the garden. He is normally found in the laundry where he has a good supply of food, a bowl of fresh water and some very soft, warm blankets to lay upon on top of the tumble drier. He knows instinctively who likes his company, and has made good friends with many staff and residents in the home.

Socks are extremely tolerant of other pets, so there's no issue with residents seeing their families' pets when they come in to visit.
