We're very happy with the care and support provided to our aunt. In her own words, 'it is a care home and they really do care and treat me as an individual'. All the carers we met are professional, caring and very welcoming. The manager is fully aware of all residents' circumstances and very much 'hands-on'.

Impressed when looking for a home for my father, they showed care and compassion. The home was welcoming, comfortable and well presented, communal areas are used by residents and there are a variety of activities on offer, nearly every day, also an opportunity for trips out. Very good choice of menu.

Thank you Mary for a great review of our home, your father does seem very happy here. He's a lovely man, and really enjoys the activities we have on offer.

We're very lucky to have found Oak Lodge for Mum who has dementia. A comfortable, homely, environment with friendly, caring staff. Many activities both in house and out in a minibus. The manager has a nursing background and is extremely knowledgable and enthusiastic and cares about the people living here. Highly recommend.

Oak Lodge is a real 'home away from home'. The staff are very professional and you feel included through the whole transition from home to care. Nothing is too much trouble for them, from both a relatives and a residents perspective. The rooms are immaculate and spacious, yet they soon feel very homely. Mum has settled very quickly and cannot believe how quiet it is. We can all rest easy knowing she is safe and secure, and in excellent hands. Mum will finally have the dignity of continuity of care, which can only be better for her long term medical needs and our peace of mind.

I have been visiting a close friend who has been staying at Oak Lodge for 10 days of respite care. I am so delighted by the friendliness and care of the staff. Her room was light well-furnished and carpeted. The sheets and bed covers were attractive and squeaky clean. She said the food was excellent. As a local 92-year-old myself I have never encountered a care home of this quality,

I took my mother for a 10 day respite and from the moment we arrived everyone was very attentive, caring and sensitive to my mother's needs and wishes. It was obvious from my mother's happy and peaceful demeanour when I picked her up that she had a very pleasant stay and one that has left her with fond memories of the home and all the people that she met there.

Been into many care homes but none like Oak Lodge. Wonderful staff, felt like I had known them forever. Nothing was too much trouble. Met the manager for the first time today, what a lovely genuine man. Spoke to a lady in depth and she was also very caring and most helpful and spoke highly with much respect for the manager.

So, so, so happy my brother-in-law is in Oak Lodge Care Centre.

My husbands care has always been very good, the staff cared for him like he was a family member. At times he could be quite cheeky and they developed a good banter. When I visited I was always made to feel part of the "Oak Lodge Family".

Everyone is extremely kind and helpful. They treat you as a person, not a number. They try to make your room your home and let you personalise your room. They have a good activities team and take you out in the home bus to local entertainments.

A new manager and deputy manager started in December and the change is transformational in just a couple of weeks and family feels that Oak Lodge has a positive future with good nursing care.

The carers have always been hard-working, caring and supportive. Oak Lodge was previously in a very dark place. With the new management, it finally feels like a nursing home that I would recommend - not something I would have said a month ago.

Reply from Andy Kirby, Home Manager at Oak Lodge Care Home

Thank you for such a positive review. Oak Lodge has a wonderful group of staff, and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to join their team. Can I also thank you for your help in giving your husband such good care when he most needed it, it was great to involve you so fully in his care at such a critical time.

My father has been here since August 2016. He is cared for by all staff with great kindness and doesn't seem to have any complaints.

He enjoys all the activities, including outings whenever possible. He thinks the food varies but is as good as can be expected considering the fact it is mass catering.
