I have always found the staff, polite and caring. The activity staff are always cheerful & include my mum, even if she has remained in her bedroom. This is very important to feel part of your community, and for her mental health. Whilst extremely busy, the staff always greet me with a smile & a "Hello"

Well done all of you!! xxx

All the staff at The Orchards are extremely helpful and friendly and I felt that Mum was being cared for and well looked after. She was sad to leave (she only moved so she could be closer to Dad for him to visit) as she had become friends with many of the staff and enjoyed their company. The home itself is well maintained, clean and a lovely environment to live in

Overall mum seems to be happy at The Orchards. She has a lovely bond with the staff who make an effort with her and genuinely seem to care about her. It's clear she feels the same. Mum always seems to be well fed and clean. The home is kept nice and clean too. If I call ahead to let the home

Know I'm taking her out She's always ready in time. Her room nice and is clean too which is good. I like seeing the activities on social media and it's clear mum enjoys joining in when she can. In terms of areas to improve, there is a lovely garden and I haven't seen the residents out there at all. Mum would always have been outside in good weather, it is important to sustain this. I feel that it would benefit residents health and overall happiness to be allowed out. The other thing is I asked a couple of times when mum moved in to be given important info such as around health changes/falls. But this doesn't always happen. Her husband is notified, but I'd like to know too.

We/I could not be more grateful for all of the hard work and support that my grandfather has received since he moved into The Orchards almost a year ago. He has complex needs, but I have only ever seen all staff treat him with complete respect and dignity. He is chair/bed bound but staff always try where possible t include him in as many activities as possible. It is a real reassurance to know he is being well cared for in the end stages of his life.

I wanted I express my thanks to the team for looking after my father in his final months. I only got to visit once but I knew my dad really liked his time here. He liked his room, the view, food and the staff.
It's in a nice calm spot, but near the town. Great location. My only gripe was I sent an email and it wasn't answered. Would be good if there was some way that details could be shared for families, a weekly email maybe.
I'm thankful that dad passed in his sleep somewhere warm and comfortable with caring people around him.

Thank you so much

My Dad moved here after a bad experience in a previous home. John (Deputy Manager) knelt down beside my dad & spoke to him even though he has Dementia. All the staff are friendly, welcoming & professional in caring for my Dad. Kerry (Activity Coordinator) is amazing, you can see she loves her job & doing activities with the clients, she laminated a pack of cards especially for Dad. It is very professional, it is comfort knowing there is actual nurses there all the time.

I always enjoy visiting my dad at The Orchards care home. It has a friendly atmosphere and I feel welcome. Its great to see my dad relaxed and comfortable in his surroundings where he has made many new friends, residents and staff. Our little dog visits also and has a fuss from all the staff. When he's up to it we take him into town in the wheelchair for coffee or occassionally a 1/2 at the pub.

My brother moved to The Orchards in Crewkerne in July this year. The whole experience since he has been there has been nothing but positive for him and the family. Through all the kindness and understanding of all the staff, my brother settled in well and he has since made friends there, and fostered happy connections with the team. He has enjoyed the social events and outings, and loved attending the Memorial Day service most recently. He is also engaging in the activities at the Orchards and getting a lot from these. The Orchards staff are always welcoming and friendly, and engage well with questions by family members. They all do their best to help and ensure things run smoothly for my brother. My brother also really enjoys the food at The Orchards and very much likes the view his bedroom window over the playing fields. He loves watching the weekend sport! In all, his experience since being there has been entirely positive.

I was worried about putting my mother into care, would she be looked after? Would she be happy? Well after a look back over her last ten months at The Orchards I can answer "YES!".

I really am happy for her to be in their care. When ever I drop in to see her, she is well dressed, warm and cared for in warm comfortable surroundings.

Overall no complaints about the care given. However I was not impressed to find breakfast dishes still in resident's room late afternoon. Also residents in lounge unable to have afternoon hot drinks due to lack of cups and only one member of staff in the lounge with several residents. Appreciate may be short staffed but .

Thank you so much to everyone at The Orchard nursing home,
Dad was a resident there for 2 months and in that time he received the best care,
The manager Ruth and her care team were all amazing, Dad was so very happy and relaxed and very much enjoyed the food.
Sadly dad passed away with later stages of vascular dementia,

We all really appreciate the care dad received.

My husband needed physical and mental help in the last few months of his life and we we were lucky enough to find The Orchards, a beautiful home of such very high standards. A visit at any time by family or friends was always met with a warm welcome by every member of staff on duty and we always knew that my husband had received the very best care and attention they could give. I was privileged to have spent some quality time at The Orchards today. The true sense of belonging and homeliness made you feel instantly welcomed. The first thing I noticed was the authentic bond between the staff, where their enthusiastic and caring attitude for each other was mirrored in the care for their residents. Set in a quiet spot in Crewkerne and surrounded by a naturally beautiful area - this setting ticked the right boxes for being able to provide everything our loved ones deserve.

The Orchards has been the anchor my husband needed after a very distressing and terbulant period. The caring, dedicated staff always take time to chat to him on familiar subjects and have gone out of their way to make him feel safe and cared for. He is very content and enjoys their warm, friendly company. Many are local which he can relate to and makes him feel more at home.
With patient encouragement, he can now walk again using a frame, which hadn't been the case for many months in hospital and a temporary care home. This has boosted his self esteem and trust in his carers immeasurably.
The room is clean, cosy with a pleasant outlook and staff are always at hand. The food is extremely good with varied choices each day. There is a wide selection of activities which he enjoys but also has quiet times to relax when he wishes.

I can't praise enough the outstanding effort and warmth which runs throughout the home. I am so thankful my husband has settled here. It is truly a very special place and has helped me to come to terms with the massive adjustment of separation after many happy years of companionship. Our thanks to you all!
