Dementia is such a small word for a truly cruel disease.
In August 2024, we realised that we could no longer care for Mum at home as she needed, and she moved to Oaktree. Here we discovered a loving family carers who immediately took Mum to their heart, warmed by her ever-present smile and lack of
fuss. She enjoyed a trip to the donkey sanctuary, sang, danced, and had lots of fun whilst in a safe environment. We were able to visit Mum whenever we wanted.
For Mum's final seven months, she initially spent time in the Somerset Suite, surrounded by others also battling with dementia, but what a place full of characters who won our hearts too.
Mum's final three months were the hardest but again her stoicism and strength showed through even in the darkest of times. We visited every day and soon found ourselves as much cared for as Mum, and were forever grateful for the kindness and care present everywhere there. The nurses, the carers, whose magical touch, I am sure, kept Mum with us for just a bit longer, the cleaners, the chefs, the reception ladies, the entertainment team – they are all angels to us.

My wife spent almost seven months at Oaktree Court. Family members had reviewed and visited several possible care homes for her, and I can truthfully say that we are unreservedly grateful that it was Oaktree Court that we chose. Preliminary visits enabled Ann to make the transition from our home, when
the time came, with calmness and a feeling of being made very welcome.
From the outset she received impressive professional care and very loving human kindness. It helped her, and it certainly helped family members, that we were always made very welcome indeed. There was a lot of laughter, fun-type activities especially in the dementia suite, in every respect sensitivity to her as an individual, and seemingly endless patience. When help was needed it was provided immediately, when our anxieties and fears arose they were taken seriously and addressed so that we did not feel awkward or uneasy in asking.
Ann's care moved from dementia through to 'end of life'. When it became clear that her life was coming to an end, two staff members kept her company and provided the love and reassurance she needed. For this we cannot be too grateful. Oaktree Court is a very fine place, efficiently managed and in so many ways a delight.

Oaktree provide a care second to none. From our initial visit to when we took mum, everyone who works there was so kind and caring to us as relatives as much as for our mum whose home it become. The home is very well maintained, it is a beautiful setting and it feels like home from home for us too.
Cannot fault the dedication of everyone who worked there. The atmosphere is so welcoming and happy. Will forever be grateful for all they did for us as a family.

The activities coordinators arranged Par our Mum to have a longed-for meet and cuddle with a beautiful cat. She misses hers dearly and this thoughtfulness and dedication to making her life enjoyable was wonderful. Thank you so much. You are all amazing.

My mother has been a permanent resident at Oaktree since May 2024, prior to this, she had been at 2 other homes for respite care.
Oaktrees is definitely the friendliest and most caring home and my mother has been very happy at the home since her placement here.
I have found all the staff approachable
and appear happy in their caring roles. The home definitely has a family/homely feel which I particularly recommend it.

I have often visited Oaktree Court for community events, over the last six years. I love its grounds and communal coffee area and having the chance to support them but also chat to some of the residents, who not only love to have different visitors and company telling you their stories but also listening
to how they love living there. It is also great to see so many of the same staff who have been there for a number of years, which must be reassuring and supportive for residents. Especially given the industry.

My uncle, having been in hospital for some months, was no longer able to return to his home.
My dad and I had to find him residential care, and all thanks to my dad, he found Oaktree Court.
It’s an absolutely amazing home, and the grounds are beautiful.
The manager was an absolute joy and a pleasure
to deal with, and we remain immensely grateful for all the help she gave to us during what was a difficult and stressful time trying to find a home for my uncle.
Having visited my uncle, I could see how happy he is, and he idolises the staff, especially two members of staff, and vice versa of him.
I cannot tell you how much comfort this brings to my dad and me as we live in Essex, so my uncle's well-being is paramount.
Oaktree takes care of him, and we are so grateful to all the staff who work tirelessly every day to take care of not only my uncle but all the residents and who show beyond any doubt their commitment and dedication.
Our sincere thanks to all of them for everything.

Oak Tree has looked after my mother since April 2018 beautifully. She thoroughly enjoyed life at Oak Tree and all the activities on offer until she developed dementia. Oaktree Court is a care home that provides excellent care in a lovely setting and I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful care my mother is receiving. She has been at Oaktree Court for five months now and right from the start she was made to feel very welcome and well looked after. All the staff,
in whatever capacity, are caring, concerned and supportive in such a way as to create a sense of family. They are always cheerful, kind and patient. Over these five months my mother has become her happy self again and has the feeling that there is always someone there in she needs them. Oaktree Court has high standards of hygiene, the level of communication are also always good with e-mail updates and phone calls if necessary. Thank you to all the staff for taking such great care of my mother.

Though my mother really wanted to be at home, she was far too frail and I felt it was better she was looked after in a care home nearby. We were recommended to Oaktree Court Care Home by an independent carer, who in 20 years could not get a job there, as there were no vacancies, so not a large turnover
of staff.
They treated my mother with the utmost care, catering for her likes and dislikes, encouraging her to participate in activities and ensuring all her ailments were addressed correctly. Visiting was always welcomed and visitors treated with friendly respect.
As mother came close to the end, the nurses outlined the expected stages and gave me total confidence in what would happen.
I was overwhelmed, when so many staff came to see her and say goodbye (obviously without saying goodbye). They are all so dedicated and do their jobs with humility and the utmost care.
I couldn't ask for a better care home. I was so pleased my mother was there, with total support, both for her and me.

My mother has been at Oaktree Court Care Home for a year now and right from the start she was made very welcome and well looked after. The staff are always really helpful and cheerful and give mum the care that she deserves. Although I was worried about how she would make the change, she felt immediately
at home. When I visited her the next day, she looked like a new woman, relieved of the stress of living on her own and having to look after herself and has continued to prosper in the environment. She enjoys the company of the other residents and the staff and feels safe that there is always someone there if she needs them. Oaktree Court feels and looks more like a good hotel than a care home with beautiful grounds that my mother loves looking over. When looking for a home for her, I promised my mother that I would find her one that I would be happy going in if I ever required it and I feel that Oaktree Court has let me keep my promise.

Oaktree Court is a care home that provides excellent care in a lovely setting. My aunt has been a resident in the dementia suite for almost a year and she has settled in brilliantly. It is a very difficult experience to place a loved one in a dementia care setting where liberty has to be restricted
- however many times you tell yourself that you are doing the right thing it is still very upsetting. The experience was made far easier for me by the support from all of the staff at Oaktree and by the fact that I quickly realised that my aunt was in safe and caring hands. I have nothing but praise for all of the staff that I have come into contact with - unfailingly cheerful, kind and patient when looking after my aunt and always happy to give me feedback and updates. Levels of communication are always good with email updates and phone calls if necessary. The fact that Oaktree Court is set in beautiful grounds is just an added bonus!

Our Dad stayed at Oaktree Court for ten days before passing away after a long illness, he was cared for by the manager and her wonderful team who I can only describe as Angels. Dad was in a lovely room overlooking the beautiful and well maintained gardens and open countryside. Even though Dad was not
really responsive due to his advanced stages of dementia he was still treated in the most caring and loving way. As well as looking after Dad we were also looked after and kept refreshed during our visits. we often noticed how the carers kept other residents occupied and amused with activities especially during the jubilee celebrations. Everyone we spoke to said how much they loved working there and had high regard for their manager.
Before Dad came to Oaktree Court we looked at other options but we found this to be the best both in accommodation and in the lovely staff.

For the price charged you would expect a much higher standard of care and adequate staffing to address the needs of the residents. In the early weeks, I have found a number of the policies at the home to be inadequate and not always followed.
It is not surprising that the home has only managed a CQC
rating of good (17 February 2020) having previously been rated as requires improvement in 2019. I can only say that the home is fortunate that CQC has only carried out a paper review in July 2021 and has decided not to visit. I note the home is lucky not to be selected for inspection this year.
The hotel facilities are acceptable and it is apparent that the nursing home relies on the 'window dressing' to cover its shortcomings in the standard of care they provide. In my opinion, it is probably fortunate for the home, that older people requiring such care are not always the ones wanting to complain.

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you of the measures and policies which were implemented at Oaktree Court through our 'Keeping Safe. Our Promise' approach at the very beginning of the pandemic.
Far advanced in our safety measures, we were overstaffed by 20% from the very offset & overstocked with plentiful PPE. Strict policies were implemented & consistently adhered to using government guidance & our own detailed processes to ensure the safety & wellbeing of our residents & our teams. These policies were part of a daily reporting to our central leadership team with their full support and consistent guidance.
Oaktree Court has a wonderful team & is a beautiful home well deserving of their 'Good' CQC & I truly believe that your loved one continues to enjoy a fulfilling life at our home.

Hi, I'm Marie, Home Manager at Oaktree Court!


I am absolutely delighted to be back at Oaktree Court as Home Manager! Having previously held this role from January 2019 to October 2021, it feels wonderful to return to such a warm and welcoming community. After moving to Shropshire for a time, I’m now back in Somerset and couldn’t be happier to have rejoined the team.


As a Registered Nurse, my background spans a variety of areas, including Paediatrics, Accident & Emergency, Police Forensic Nursing, Substance Misuse, Rapid Response, Acute Medical Wards, and Out-of-Hours GP Specialist Nursing. I’ve also managed nursing agencies and care homes, as well as held regional and compliance roles.


Providing exceptional care, upholding high standards, and advocating for residents has always been at the heart of my work.
