Overall Experience

Oaktree Court is a care home that provides excellent care in a lovely setting. My aunt has been a resident in the dementia suite for almost a year and she has settled in brilliantly. It is a very difficult experience to place a loved one in a dementia care setting where liberty has to be restricted - however many times you tell yourself that you are doing the right thing it is still very upsetting. The experience was made far easier for me by the support from all of the staff at Oaktree and by the fact that I quickly realised that my aunt was in safe and caring hands. I have nothing but praise for all of the staff that I have come into contact with - unfailingly cheerful, kind and patient when looking after my aunt and always happy to give me feedback and updates. Levels of communication are always good with email updates and phone calls if necessary. The fact that Oaktree Court is set in beautiful grounds is just an added bonus!

Our Dad stayed at Oaktree Court for ten days before passing away after a long illness, he was cared for by the manager and her wonderful team who I can only describe as Angels. Dad was in a lovely room overlooking the beautiful and well maintained gardens and open countryside. Even though Dad was not really responsive due to his advanced stages of dementia he was still treated in the most caring and loving way. As well as looking after Dad we were also looked after and kept refreshed during our visits. we often noticed how the carers kept other residents occupied and amused with activities especially during the jubilee celebrations. Everyone we spoke to said how much they loved working there and had high regard for their manager.
Before Dad came to Oaktree Court we looked at other options but we found this to be the best both in accommodation and in the lovely staff.

Thank you to all for your time and dedication.

For the price charged you would expect a much higher standard of care and adequate staffing to address the needs of the residents. In the early weeks, I have found a number of the policies at the home to be inadequate and not always followed.
It is not surprising that the home has only managed a CQC rating of good (17 February 2020) having previously been rated as requires improvement in 2019. I can only say that the home is fortunate that CQC has only carried out a paper review in July 2021 and has decided not to visit. I note the home is lucky not to be selected for inspection this year.

The hotel facilities are acceptable and it is apparent that the nursing home relies on the 'window dressing' to cover its shortcomings in the standard of care they provide. In my opinion, it is probably fortunate for the home, that older people requiring such care are not always the ones wanting to complain.

Thank you for your feedback. All feedback is treated with the utmost importance & I am sorry that you feel your experience in early 2020 was not to your required satisfaction.

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you of the measures and policies which were implemented at Oaktree...

This year my grandmother has resided in Oaktree Court nursing home. We especially chose this home as I have worked here as a nurse in the past, and I know that it is a lovely nursing home.
As expected, my grandmother and family were apprehensive about the transition from home to a nursing home, but we didn't need to worry.
My grandmother absolutely loves it here and is always singing her praises for the members of staff, wonderful food and activities that she can partake in.
There was an issue (not with the nursing home) at the start of her move, but the management and nursing staff acted quickly and efficiently to involve the appropriate authorities to protect my grandmother.
All of the family, including her very close friend, have been welcomed into the home and have been able to visit when we like, even with Covid restrictions in place.
I would and have recommended Oaktree Court to anyone I know.

Thank you to all the staff for taking such great care of her!

My mother has been living at Oaktree Court for three months now, and the care that she has received has exceeded all my expectations.
I had looked after both my parents in their ageing years, my father until his death aged 90, and I had planned to keep my mumma at home with us too, until the end of her days.
She was 101 in February, and although still physically very able, her increasing memory loss was giving me constant worry about her safety, so it was a hard and emotional decision to finally admit that she needed more care than I was able to give her.
The whole experience of her moving to Oaktree Court has been an absolute joy. From the moment you walk into this lovely 'Country House', the warm welcome from the staff, the friendly, professionalism, the beautifully tended gardens, you instantly know that it is a lovely place to be.

The care, attention, stimulation and love that she receives from her carers, is more than I could ever hope for.

Mum has been a resident for the past 6-months or so and passed peacefully away yesterday. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention she received during her stay, particularly towards the end; she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity.

Oaktree Court is in a beautiful setting, and the rooms are bright and clean. Lots of activities are provided, COVID permitting, and the whole atmosphere is wonderful. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

I cannot praise enough the team who tirelessly work for the better lives of their residents at Oaktree Court. My father has dementia but with the kind and familiar service he experiences every day here, he is present, happy, entertained and engaged. I am very grateful for their ‘home from home’ attention to my dad and I know he could not be in a better place. Thank you.

The home gives every resident the care we as a family would give. Detail is always given to the way they are looked after before entering the home, their likes and dislikes are always remembered. They have a brilliant entertainment programme and make sure residents have a chance to continue their hobbies. A lovely relaxed environment, clean, tidy and staff go above and beyond to care for residents.

During this incredibly difficult period, the level of care in Oaktree by all the staff has been fantastic. The rules were rightly strict, which paid off, as unlike some of the other local care homes, they have lost very few residents/friends. The general service, care and things like the food have continued to be of a very high standard, and every effort seems to have been made to keep residents as happy as possible, which under the circumstance must have been not easy.

As things have eased, the home has carefully increased visiting and contact with residents, which I am sure all relatives are very pleased about, as the last thing we want is another rise in the number of cases.

We are just coming around to the anniversary of the first Covid-19 lockdown. A whole year has passed. It has been a very worrying time for everyone, especially for care homes. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Oaktree Court for their bravery, diligence, and total commitment throughout this potential nightmare scenario. They held firm, they stayed true, totally devoted to protecting the residents whilst having to make difficult choices that, let's face it, even challenged Governments. No one knew how this pandemic was going to play out. Selflessly they worked long hours, in difficult, uncomfortable PPE, they found ways of keeping the residents calm and entertained, whilst internally they must’ve been terrified for their own safety. Literally, their own lives on the line. I cannot thank them enough. The truth is there to see. Total commitment. Total professionalism. Total respect.

I was anxious about Mum going into a home during the pandemic, but she has been so happy since living at Oaktree Court. The manager and deputy were both so helpful and welcoming before and during arrival, and all of the staff are wonderfully kind. She says the food is lovely and plentiful and is enjoying lots of time in the beautiful grounds. Her room has a wonderful view and a nice size.

Both of my parents moved to Oaktree Court in July. I was impressed with the administrative processes, arrival procedure and welcome given - particularly in light of the additional restrictions imposed by COVID-19. Although I have not been able to enter the home all my dealings to date with staff indicate a well-run organisation.

Very high standard of care. Staff are caring, kind and attentive they have made my mother's stay bearable. She has lots of health issues but has been in less pain and discomfort due to the high standard of nursing care. They listen to her which is important. The lockdown has been very difficult for her but they have coped well!

During these difficult times, I have found the home extremely diligent and caring. They appeared to be well prepared for the pandemic with no shortages of PPE as far as I was aware. My mum cannot speak owing to a stroke, and I have regularly emailed her, and the manager and staff have always found the time to read them to her and leave the message for her to look at and read herself afterwards. All the staff at this home are absolutely lovely, and I cannot speak highly enough of them.

Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at Oaktree Court for their continued hard work and care for Mum and other residents during these hard times.
Mum has been at Oaktree Court for just over 2 years now. It has always been a lovely home but since having the new management team in place the home has improved a great deal. Both the manager and the deputy manager are very approachable, friendly and if there is anything Mum may need they put it in place as soon as they can.
Mum really enjoys the food, if there is something that she doesn't fancy on the menu then staff will ask her what she would like and sort it out with the kitchen for her.
Activities are great, I love seeing pictures of Mum on Facebook trying different things that she didn't get to do at home.

The home have recently started carrying out window visits which are working very well, it feels so safe and I can see that Mum is very happy and is being looked after very well.

My aunt recently moved into Oaktree Court, the improvement in her general health and well-being is quite amazing. The home and its grounds are wonderful. The perfect setting.
The whole care and management team have been amazing throughout her stay. They keep us informed and have enabled me to keep contact with my aunt throughout lockdown via video call and have sent pictures and emails.
Throughout the pandemic, we have been updated on the status of the home, the plans moving forward and have been reassured about PPE and food supplies.
The new visiting procedures via the coffee lounge patio doors is inspired and a welcomed addition to everything else the team have done for me through lockdown. Seeing auntie again after so long was just amazing.

Thank you to you all at Oaktree. You’re all amazing!
