With a devoted and long-serving team, many of whom have worked there for over 15 and even 20 years, The Rosary has a special, family feel. And while the building and the gardens are stunning, it’s the high standard of care which makes it really stand out.
As well as providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, the team offer respite care breaks which can be pre-booked in advance, as well as day care.
The team are passionate about Sanctuary Care’s unique Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled, a sense of belonging, continuity, achievement, purpose, significance and security. Using this, they work with their residents to live life to the full and achieve their goals.
The residents enjoy some fantastic activities, from baking and flower arranging, to ‘virtually’ cycling to destinations around the globe from the comfort of home using Motiview, an incredible piece of technology where they peddle through their chosen destination on a static bike, with a special screen to enjoy the views.
With a hairdressing salon, residents enjoy weekly visits from a mobile hairdresser, as well as pamper sessions, with manicures and massages.
The secure gardens are spectacular, with raised beds for residents to enjoy growing their own. This summer they have grown everything from herbs to carrots and tomatoes. The residents have harvested their produce, which has been used in the kitchens where the chef creates delicious home-cooked meals every day, as well as home baking for afternoon tea.
Every Christmas the home’s award-winning maintenance man transforms the gardens into a spectacular winter wonderland, with thousands of festive lights.
Many of the ensuite bedrooms, as well as the main lounges, overlook the Quantock Hills, while others overlook Durleigh Reservoir, where you can see the boats in the summer.

The care plan wasn’t even looked at before my Mother-in-law arrived. She needed an air mattress and she had to wait for them to find one, in her wheelchair and on her oxygen. There wasn’t a commode in her room, that was also on the plan and when it arrived it took ME 20 minutes to clear the faeces off it, also she had to phone me a number of times as she had been waiting for her pain killers over 2 hours, she only went in for respite but now needs full-time care and blankly refuses to go back there. I also think the room she was in was very small. She is far happier with the home she is now in.
It is difficult for me to be precise, as I am unable to visit the resident more than monthly if that, but she seems well cared for, clean, washed etc. In her room, she is surrounded by her own long-cherished articles, and, if she wanted to, she could enjoy the view out of the window and be taken to...
It is difficult for me to be precise, as I am unable to visit the resident more than monthly if that, but she seems well cared for, clean, washed etc. In her room, she is surrounded by her own long-cherished articles, and, if she wanted to, she could enjoy the view out of the window and be taken to the dining room for meals. She has her own phone, but chooses not to, or is unable to use it. I ignore the fact that virtually every time I go she moans, sometimes in the strongest terms, about not seeing people or the lack of care because this doesn't seem to have any relationship to what actually happens. She will say she's seen no one all day, but on being challenged admits that people have brought her meals, drinks, washed her, and so on. I find the staff immensely kind, helpful, prepared to talk and answer questions if necessary. The resident has never found doing others' bidding the easiest, and nothing has changed because she is in a care home.
Thank you for your kind words about our home and team. I will be sure to pass your kind words onto them. Best wishes, Fae.

We as a family, cannot thank them enough for the kindness, support and care they gave to our dear Mum throughout this difficult time. We would also like to thank them for the continual support and kindness they showed to us as a family. They were just amazing and a real credit to their profession. A huge thank you from us all. My mother is bedridden but she is happy with the care she receives which means that us, as family, are satisfied with the care she is getting and the way she is being treated.

I came straight from hospital for 2 weeks respite care. I was welcomed and cared for the minute I was wheeled in. I could have anything I fancied to eat and nothing has been too much trouble. A very warm and welcoming atmosphere. There is always something of interest going on.

They are also exactly the same to myself and my sister.

I feel that there is not enough staff. My family member is not able to stand, let alone walk. So when they need to pass water/use their bowels, they can be waiting for anything up to 1 hour for assistance. This is why on occasions my family member then needs to be taken back to their room to be...
Rooms left unlocked. Other residents found asleep on bed, TV remote goes missing. Always looking for staff. Resident left either in bed/lounge. No activities.
Thank you for your review. With regards to the TV remote I am pleased that this was found in your father’s bedroom. I was surprised to read the other comments as you have not mentioned these to me before and I don’t feel they accurately portray life in our home. Perhaps we could discuss them in person and we can talk through any concerns you may have.
Lack of activities, shortage of staff, having to wait at least 30 minutes at times to be taken to the bathroom, having had to help staff by wheeling the resident to the bathroom as there wasn't another member of staff to help. Rooms left unlocked, found another resident in his bed.

Thank you for your review. I was surprised to read these comments as this is the first time they have been mentioned and I don’t believe they are a fair reflection of the care and support we provide.I am particularly surprised about the staffing part as I can assure you we do have the correct number of staff to care for our residents. I would really appreciate us talking through this in person so will be in touch.

The food is excellent and of a good variety, and we can heap praise on the excellent afternoon cakes and tea. The nursing staff are very pleasant with a good sense of humour. Could certainly recommend this home.

Care and support is excellent, staff treat residents as if they were their own family. Nothing appears to be too much trouble. Residents are treated with a high degree of dignity and a genuinely caring staff team spirit exists throughout. There appears to be a high degree of respect and co-operation between management and the staff, with the staff appearing to perform to the best of their ability because they want to, as opposed to because they have got to, signs of both good staff and personal management. The facilities are modern, catering to individual needs, rooms are furnished with modern furniture, cleanliness throughout is again to the highest standard. Very high-quality food and drink is served efficiently and on time. Activity programmes provide for a varied theme daily. Safety and security is excellent without being intrusive. An internal safety system operates with multiple staff monitoring points for door and window opening, access and exiting the building is by push-button control. I am a professional management tutor and I have no hesitation in stating, in my opinion, The Rosary is both excellent in care and very good value for money.
