Torrwood is a purpose-built nursing care home for 82 people with residential, dementia and nursing care needs. With countryside surroundings and within close proximity to the pretty cathedral city of Wells, the home offer long term and respite care in safe, warm and welcoming surroundings.

All Torrwood residents enjoy en-suite bedrooms and the use of comfortably furnished social areas, while there is also a reminiscence room and a cinema room that offer numerous hours of enjoyment and mental health benefits.

Some of the activities available to residents include arts and crafts sessions, musical events and regular outings to a popular attractions. The friendly, experienced and qualified registered nurses are available around the clock to provide the support you or your loved one might need. I have found this nursing home to be excellent and am very confident that my mum is getting the best care possible. The staff from management, reception, senior nursing, healthcare assistants, cleaners and catering are all very helpful and polite at all times. The overall standard of cleanliness in
the home is outstanding. I feel very lucky that my mum will spend the remainder of her life here.

The staff and service are superb. We're so glad Dad is able to live somewhere close to home, in a quiet environment, with comfortable and well-designed facilities. As a family, we've found the staff so friendly, welcoming and supportive.

Definitely the tops. Excellent accommodation. Wonderful staff - unequalled in their caring, help and patience. The rooms were great; food was also. The evening meal at 5 pm was much too early for us. We had had previous experience (brief) of two other care homes.

My mum has been a resident of Torrwood Care Centre for many years and has had complex needs. The home seems to retain its staff which can only be a good sign, so they have really got to know her over the years. I feel so fortunate that my mum is in Torrwood and I can't thank the staff enough.

A very friendly and welcoming home to residents and their visitors. It is clear that staff really do know the residents and their changing needs. I would happily recommend Torrwood Care Centre to anyone. The home is spacious and clean, and the staff are very approachable.

Lovely home and lovely staff. Always made to feel welcome and very kind to residents. They make a really good effort around celebrations and events. We came before when the home were having a garden party for the jubilee, which was really nice.

I have been so impressed with Torrwood Care Home, in South Horrington, Wells. My Dad originally had some respite in the care home, but his needs grew and he is now a full-time resident. The manager showed Dad and myself around and from the onset, it felt like a warm, caring and attentive place to live.
All the staff have been absolutely brilliant, from the admin team, care and activity team and nursing support. They have all shown so much care and empathy and it is clear everyone is working together to support Dad in the best way that they can. The united team spirit from the care home comes across on every visit. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you for all that you are doing.

My husband has been in the home for eight months and the staff, both nursing and carers, have been so good with him. His dementia makes his behaviour vary and they cope with this by always smiling and being helpful. The food is excellent and sometimes a carer helps him to eat and cleans up anything
which has dropped. He has been encouraged to go to the lounge when there is a quiz or a crossword and once there he enjoys the activity. I only wish there were more activities as pictures show what used to be available - arts and crafts, painting etc.

I have been really impressed with the professionalism and care from Torrwood. My family was thrown into crisis after one parent became seriously ill, and the other could no longer be supported with their dementia. The staff at Torrwood listened to our problems and provided a solution where both parents
could be helped. As things developed the plan was adapted, recommendations made and then put in place. I thought that the caring professionalism was outstanding. Caring for dementia patients is challenging, but here it is done with warmth, humour and dignity. Guests to the home are warmly welcomed and the main lounge is the place where my dad seems to be very relaxed and comfortable. The staff work long hours but seem to genuinely care and cheerfully stop to chat even when they are busy. Medication is dealt with professionally and problems are noted and dealt with. The support provided is kind and thoughtful.

It is a lovely care home with staff who are attentive and caring. They are considerate and have gotten to know Mum really well and adapt to her conditions well. Mum is well looked after in pleasant conditions with lovely staff. As a family, we are so pleased with where Mum is and who is looking after
her. It is so quiet, and the environment is lovely with such a lot of greenery.

After nearly two years without seeing him because of covid restrictions, I was invited by his relatives to visit him at the care home. I found him to be safe, well cared for and happy interacting with the other residents and staff. I knew that when he had to move into care that his mental health was
affected, however, I noticed that he is in a happy place and there is an effort from the staff to support him. Enjoyed seeing different activities being proposed and choices being given.

The staff on Copper Beech are mostly outstanding. We are very grateful for their support of our mother. The reception staff and management are very helpful. It would be good if the residents could get outside for fresh air and exercise more. We do wonder how much the cost we are paying funds the council-funded
residents.

Following most difficult times, I was most reassured (once visiting was permitted again) that my mother has been cared for well. She joins in with activities and I can tell she has enjoyed them when I visit. Staff show genuine care and respect for her.

My father appears clean and well cared for. He has been appropriately cared for by a doctor and an orthopaedic specialist. Reception has a lovely welcoming manner and several of the care staff are excellent with him.

As soon as we arrived on the 7th July with my dad the staff were very helpful and answered any concerns that we had. We were very impressed with the room being light and the size of it, also having his own bathroom and plenty of cupboard space. Since dad has been in the nursing home he has had very
good care and has been kept clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this home.

My 82-year-old husband (who has Parkinson's for several years, recently fractured his hip, had 7 weeks in hospital) had to go directly into a care home. Covid time is not the best time for this. Although I cannot see his room or help to settle him, what I really appreciated about Torrwood is that despite
all the staff's added stress they also understood how difficult it was for us. Their communication and care was so kind. It was so important that I receive a reassuring phone call very soon after my husband arrived. They made him feel so welcome. He likes his quiet room, the staff, food.

I recently came to see my aunt. I was a bit worried about visiting, the last time I visited a care home was to visit my nan, but that was 20 years ago. The home my nan was in wasn't very nice and I found going to see her depressing. Visiting my aunt recently was completely different to my previous experience.
The property was much brighter than I was expecting, the staff were very friendly. Even though my aunt seemed confused about who I was, she seemed very happy in her surroundings. This gave me great comfort. Thank you to all of the staff at Torrwood, for everything you are doing. We, as a family, really do appreciate your effort.
