Over all time Torrwood Care Centre has 73 reviews.
My stay at Torrwood was first class in every way. I could not have had more caring, kind and professional treatment. It was like joining a happy, caring family. My thanks go to all concerned.
Thank you for this lovely review. After a long year, it has really lifted the spirits of the staff who work so hard to keep everyone safe.
My 82-year-old husband (who has Parkinson's for several years, recently fractured his hip, had 7 weeks in hospital) had to go directly into a care home. Covid time is not the best time for this. Although I cannot see his room or help to settle him, what I really appreciated about Torrwood is that despite all the staff's added stress they also understood how difficult it was for us. Their communication and care was so kind. It was so important that I receive a reassuring phone call very soon after my husband arrived. They made him feel so welcome. He likes his quiet room, the staff, food.
Thank you for the lovely comments, your husband is a charming gentleman and a few of the staff are having their first lesson on how to wet shave. It makes me realise that my staff are getting younger or I am getting old.
I am happy with the review. I feel it actually reflects my mother's experience at Torrwood. The careing and vibrant environment are so very much appreciated. Thank you.
I recently came to see my aunt. I was a bit worried about visiting, the last time I visited a care home was to visit my nan, but that was 20 years ago. The home my nan was in wasn't very nice and I found going to see her depressing. Visiting my aunt recently was completely different to my previous experience. The property was much brighter than I was expecting, the staff were very friendly. Even though my aunt seemed confused about who I was, she seemed very happy in her surroundings. This gave me great comfort. Thank you to all of the staff at Torrwood, for everything you are doing. We, as a family, really do appreciate your effort.
Thank you for your kind and honest review; we try very hard to make the care home a pleasant and homely place to live.
The home itself is very well run, with a good atmosphere, excellent staff and a feeling of care and respect for the residents. This is exactly what a care home should be like.
Thank you for the kind words; we are always mindful that placing a relative in a care home has a major impact on the family. All families are unique and we try to respect and accommodate the less straight forward situations, as we need the families support to make the transfer into full-time care a good experience for their loved one. It is teamwork.
Mum was suffering from Dementia and had been a resident at Torrwood for 18 months. For the last 3 weeks, until her death, she had been moved into the nursing care section. We have nothing but praise for all of the staff that looked after mum, they were hard-working and very caring. Many of the staff who had looked after her in the residential section called in to see mum in the nursing section during the past 3 weeks, often doing so in their break times. The bedrooms and dayrooms were all very clean and fresh and the food was always nice and with a choice. Mum regularly had her hair done in the purpose-built salon and she had regular treatments from the visiting lady to do nail care etc. The visiting chaplain regularly spoke to and comforted mum. I have to say again that all of the staff were so helpful and caring and nothing we asked was ever too much trouble for them.
Thank you for your recent view; which is full of wonderful comments about the care, cleanliness and how the staff were very caring and hard working. The home strives to work and live by the values of MHA and the positive feedback shows that we reinforce the importance of these values. You have...
The bedrooms are exceptional, all en-suite/wet room with plenty of space, all with a nice view. There is also a very nice wheel chair accessible garden which we enjoyed. As for the food, it’s all home cooked and there always seems to be teas, coffees, and cake (it’s so important that the eating is something to look forward to, so thanks to the chef!)
There are activities to keep everyone busy. Exercise class, hairdresser, church service with singing, quizzes and music therapy.
The staff are all very caring, highly trained and treat everyone with compassion and dignity.
I wish to thank you all for your friendship and kindness and for taking such excellent care of my aunt in her final four years, I know she was happy at Torrwood.
Thank you for sharing your lovely comments about the care, the home, good food and the facilities. Your review highlights that the home strive to work and live by the values of MHA. The positive feedback shows that we reinforce the importance of these values. I will share your lovely comments with all the staff which will be a real motivation to the team.
My mum entered Torrwood with signs of dementia already showing. This alone was stressful enough and putting your trust in other people to care for your mother was not easy. However, all I saw was caring staff showing empathy and understanding for Mum and family. I would not hesitate to use Torrwood if the need arose.
Thank you very much for your recent review on Torrwood; it is a very hard decision to make when you trust someone else to look after your mum. It is lovely to read that you saw staff showing empathy and understanding and this also helps you knowing that your mum is well cared for. Thank you for rating us overall Excellent and that you would have no hesitation in recommending us.
We were very well supported when my father had to go in for respite care suddenly. They made a huge effort to make him feel welcome. Care staff all very kind, thoughtful and professional. I have every confidence that Torrwood is looking after my Dad as well as possible. I have nothing but praise for their kindness to the whole family.
Thank you for such lovely comments about the staff at Torrwood. We always want people coming to stay with us to feel very welcome, and for families to have every confidence that their loved ones are being well looked after. I moved my sister to Torrwood Care Centre as she needed more qualified care. In the 5 weeks she has been a resident the improvement in her has been astounding.
Thank you for your recent review, I’m so pleased your sister has settled well into Torrwood. I am relieved and delighted with the patient care my wife receives. The staff who care for her are very understanding and are also kind to me.

My mum has been at Torrwood Care Centre for 8 months on their nursing floor. The staff are friendly and understand mums care needs. She enjoys the food which is homely, loves the cakes at teatime. The nurses know my mum well and meet her needs, she is very happy and quickly got used to her new home. She loves the pom pom group and it is great to see her smile and engage with other residents.
Thank you for your recent review. It's good to read that Mum has settled well into Torrwood and that she is happy. Mum does enjoy her food and the afternoon cakes. I will share your comments with all the staff where such positive comments are greatly appreciated.
Respite care for my grandmother. A really welcoming home with a lovely clean room and attentive staff who were very caring. There is always plenty going on and it was nice to see my grandmother mixing with other residents and enjoying a laugh. Definitely a home I would consider if my grandmother's care needs became permanent.
Thank you for your recent review. It’s good to hear that your Grandmother was mixing with other residents, enjoying a laugh whilst on respite care and to read lovely positive comments that you would consider Torrwood if your Grandmother's needs changed. It was lovely to have your Grandmother to stay with us and she would be very welcome anytime.
My parents have been resident here for the last 7 months and have very differing needs. Torrwood has enabled mum and dad to be cared for under the same roof and has daily contact which is so important after 64 years of marriage.
Every member of staff on both Oak and Beech has shown such kindness not only to my parents but also to our family whenever we visit. They are always cheerful, professional and very caring. It is evident that they work hard to go the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you to each and every one of you. You've made a very big difference to our lives and we are truly grateful.

We were pleased to be able to use a not for profit service, knowing that the quality of care was most important. Thank you to the staff and other residents who made my mother's last few weeks as comfortable and safe as possible.

I will ensure that your comments are fed back to all the staff where comments are greatly appreciated.
One day I hope all nursing and residential homes will be this good. Torrwood came very highly recommended - after we had already decided that it was the best in the area - and it has surpassed our high expectations. Simply outstanding.
The warm, patient, friendly and professional way the staff are looking after and caring for my elderly father is as good as I could possibly hope for. He has settled very happily and his health is improving daily after some quite challenging experiences.
Thank you for a lovely review on Torrwood; to read such positive comments and to see that you have rated us Excellent in all areas is fantastic. I will ensure that this review is shared with the team where your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
