My wife has Parkinsons' disease and dementia. At home, this involved up to seven tablets and five injections daily. She suffered frequent falls, the worst of which caused a dislocated shoulder. I felt unable to care for her safely and turned to Wessex House. It has proved to be a happy choice. We were
invited to add pictures and other familiar objects to her room to make her feel at home. Consultation between her Parkinsons Specialist Nurse and the Wessex Medical Team means that in this secure atmosphere, she now needs fewer tablets and no injections. Staff are attentive, gentle and smile a lot which makes residents feel at home - the overall atmosphere is kind-hearted. Residents participate in enjoyable activities and the food is nourishing and tasty. Overall Wessex House is a safe, friendly welcoming residence, led by thoughtful and professional managers who listen to relative's concerns.

My mum was a resident at Wessex House for nine months and was looked after with exceptionally high care. The home is very clean, welcoming and the staff always have time for you.
It was perfect that I could take her great-granddaughter into see her and she enjoyed meeting the resident rabbit and visits
from donkeys, owls and disco.
In the last few weeks, the care and love given to Mum by the staff has been a great comfort to me and her family and I can't thank them enough.

My nan has been a resident at Wessex House for more than 3 years. Whenever I visited everyone was always friendly and professional. Nan was always clean and warm and meal times were nans pleasure, especially breakfast. She loved the porridge. I am very thankful my nan was looked after and shown respect
and kindness. Thank you everyone at Wessex House.

My mom spent just under four years at Wessex House. She recently passed away aged 93. Mom's time in Wessex House was first class, always kept clean and comfortable. The staff who looked after Mom on the first floor were caring, respectful and professional. My thanks to all the team both office and operational.

I visited this morning, was greeted cheerfully by the manager who let me in. Myself and Mum (resident) experienced a happy, cheery music event which had been organised by the activities team, it was obvious that many other residents thoroughly enjoyed it also. So lovely to see.

Every member of staff has been welcoming and, even when busy, made time to explain and reassure me of the steps to be taken in my friend's care. My husband, aged 94, was moved to Wessed House in October 2022 due to his previous care home closing down. He was happy at Wessex House from day one and immediately engaged in a singing group. Visiting him was very easy for me as I could go every day at any time, and he had the blessing of a quiet,
private room with a lovely view over Somerton. The staff were amazing! Always kind, quiet and respectful. My husband was in poor health when admitted, and he was given excellent care from the home and the nearby GP surgery. They told me he was "in decline" and had only weeks to live; he chose not to go to the hospital, and Wessex House gave him fantastic "end-of-life care
". He passed away on 15th January in a peaceful, safe, loving environment. I can't thank the staff enough - they are angels.

Wessex House is the local home to my parents so was the natural choice in many ways but that didn't make a move into care any easier. Having been in the hospital for six weeks we knew that he couldn't return to his own home and our family was under a lot of stress. I spoke to Wessex House on a Thursday
evening and was immediately impressed by their can-do attitude and the following Monday (one week before Christmas) my father was wheeled into his room which we had already personalised with family photos and key possessions. I have visited my father many times since then and, on every occasion, have been impressed with all the staff (from managers through to agency care assistants) who have not only been welcoming but also demonstrated an interest in my father and his care. Although he chooses to remain in his room most of the time, it never feels like he is forgotten. My mother, who also has dementia, has been welcomed to visit every day and is able to join my father for meals.

My mum has been in Wessex House for a couple of months now, I cannot stress how well she has been looked after, everyone goes above and beyond to help in any way they can. My mum is at end of life care, and I cannot thank everyone enough for their care and kindness!

Both my husband and mother are residents at Wessex House. The staff do a wonderful job sometimes under difficult circumstances. My husband and my mother are always very clean and presentable when we visit. The manager is excellent, and if you have a grievance, she will do her very best to sort it out.

Absolutely shockingly bad home and manager. My Mother passed away alone and I as her daughter was not informed. On the day I visited, as I live a long way away, my Mother was lying in her own faeces with her pressure sore exposed in it for God knows how long. Her call bell was not even working. She
has no TV or anything. Some staff are unable to converse in English. The manager threw me out and was so unbearably rude as were most of the senior staff. I could not say a proper goodbye to my Mother. And this was the last time I saw my Mother alive. I have complained to the CQC. If you love your family, do not put them in here. My brother who was in charge of her care did against my wishes.

This is a very nice home, with lovely staff and a manager who really cares. Rooms are nicely decorated. Cannot comment on the entertainment to any great extent as the resident concerned does not freely mix. Meals are varied with a choice.

Thanks for looking after my dad with such care and dignity. We feel really happy that he is treated as an individual and that staff take time to look after him well. He is always clean, any issues are well managed and he is as comfortable as he can be, given his level of overall health. The home is
well presented, clean and maintained to a good standard. The team on the Shelley floor are really friendly and all know my dad and his particular likes and wants well! Thanks for all you are doing, it's appreciated.

I would like to thank all the staff for being so caring for Mum in her final year. The care was excellent along with the facilities. The room she had was perfect, very clean and well maintained. Another plus was the staff member who entertained Mum. I cannot have enough praise for the whole establishment.
The only aspect was the cost of £6000 per month.

My wife has been very well cared for during this time. The atmosphere is friendly but very competent. The accommodation is cheerful, clean and bright. My wife is unable to communicate, so I am not sure about food quality, but I am sure she is well fed.

My Uncle has been at Wessex House for just over 5 months now and seems to have settled in well. I haven’t been able to visit as I live in Lancashire but the staff have organised weekly video calls. I receive regular communication and updates. All the staff I have dealt with seem helpful and friendly.

My uncle has been in Wessex House for well over a year now and thanks to all staff concerned, he's settled in very well and is happy. He feels safe and despite not being able to participate in any activities, he tells me he is very contented. Management and staff always keep me well informed despite
last year being a very difficult one for them and all of us. Would certainly recommend.
