Overall Experience

Our perception of The Cedars over the last three years has been poor. This is due to the high turnover of management and staff. Over the last four months, under totally new management, the care has vastly improved. We have been with the home now for over six years, and it has been a bumpy road. Continuity of staff and management is of paramount importance to maintain the high standard of care that we expect. This far above decoration, there are just window dressings, staff and management are the important factors.

We visited my aunt on her Birthday, we were warmly welcomed. The chef made her a lovely Birthday cake. Many staff, admin, carers and her nurse wished her a Happy Birthday. She was made feel special and so were we. Thank you so much.

I always find the staff busy and occupied, but invariably very willing to assist and help with anything that will help residents feel happier or guests feel more welcome.

Staff always looking for opportunities to learn more about resident's backgrounds, too, as this can help in all interactions. I find this highly reassuring and an indicator of an attitude of genuine care.

Cedars cared for my mother superbly so when my husband needed help, I could no longer provide (he has Lewy body dementia) I knew where to contact. He has been there for 16 months now. He is settled, extremely well cared for and genuinely loved by the carers who say he is a perfect gentleman. I can sleep soundly.

The first thing to say is that the staff are amazing and giving it 110%. However, I do feel that since my mother became resident in February this year the care home has been grappling with severe staff shortages, now exacerbated by the Covid-19 Pandemic. The only thing I can say is that the staff are doing an amazing job in very difficult circumstances but hopefully once better times arrive, they will be able to achieve the staffing levels they need.

However, I am increasingly alarmed at there being no long term strategy that I am aware of to reinstate family visits safely and get the residents out of their rooms, even in small groups, to speak to other residents. Mum's mental health is being badly affected by her isolation.

The staff and general atmosphere within the home are warm and welcoming. There has been more evidence of room cleaning this year and the domestic help appears to have increased. Unfortunately, there still appears to be issues regarding washing and tumble drying clothes that appear to sometimes shrink or contain a residue? due to washing powder. The food is sadly often cold and lacks seasoning although the difficulty of meeting the needs of everyone is acknowledged. The activities arranged for residents are stimulating and provide a friendly and interesting environment. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, this was ended but the staff has made every effort to maintain health, safety, and wellbeing. Thank you.

The staff offer exemplary personalised care and show such thoughtful kindness at every step. My parent is happy, settled, and feels at home. My mother stayed at The Cedars twice on respite and is now a resident, that says it all! The surroundings are fabulous. It's like one big family. Even me, as a visitor, feels part of it. As a son, I want the best I can get for my mum and I don't think I could find anywhere better. I have marked everything as excellent because that is how I feel.

Hello,

I qualified as a nurse in 2009. I started my career back home in India for a few years before coming to the UK in 2013. I quickly found my passion for elderly care and felt a great sense of achievement when helping others live to their best potential. When the residents smile and see them happy, I know the team has done a fantastic job in enriching their lives.

I have worked as Head of Care and Deputy Manager for a few homes around London and in Hampshire. I believe I can keep up my good work to keep my residents and their loved ones happy & comfortable. I have always made a good relationship with all the multi-healthcare professionals for the well-being of my residents.

I love being out in nature and driving around in my spare time. My little one keeps me busy, the rest of the time.

Looking forward to meeting you all.
