Pleasant evening, very well catered. The entertainment was very good. A good selection of food and drink, staff interacted with everyone and looked after residents who didn't have any family with them.
A great evening, many thanks, the Oak's team.

Sensitivity towards my husband as a person, prompt responses to his needs, good communication with family, were all part of his care during his final weeks.
It is a consolation to us all to know that so much was being done, consistently to try to alleviate his suffering. Thank you.

We found the home in very good condition, rooms are comfortable each with TV and radio. The staff are very approachable and willing to answer any questions.
Even though my friend has now passed we still attend every Monday morning. The management has said we are welcome to attend and we enjoy going
there. I would recommend this home to anyone!

My mother in law has been at the home for just over four years now and suffers from end stage dementia.
In the time spent there she has been well looked after by very caring staff.
A lot of the staff have been there during the four years which I think is imperative as they know her and understand
her.
Constant turn over of staff is not good for patients or morale of the home.
I cannot fault the staff for their care but would like to see management out and about seeing residents and their visiting families.

My mum chose Trowbridge Oaks for palliative care, mainly because it was nearest to us, but we are glad she did, all members of staff here made her last few months as good as they could have, she was treated with compassion, kindness and dignity throughout her residence, even though she was not easily
pleased, she did not faze any of them, we are eternally grateful to them for this, mum was extremely happy here, when she passed in April, we were given exceptional care by every member of the team here. The condolences were genuinely heartfelt for our loss.

My husband stayed at the Oaks for a period of respite recently.
He was looked after very well by all the staff and shown such good kindness, care and attention.
His condition is quite complex and fluctuates throughout the day but the staff were prepared for this and coped extremely well with all his
needs.
He seemed happy and content and appeared to have enjoyed his stay.
I am so grateful to the staff for making this such a positive experience for him.

This is the second time my brother has been to stay at Trowbridge Oaks. He asked for the Oaks rather than anywhere else. He seems to have bucked up since he's been there, as he had gotten very low. He's a fussy person but the staff try and do their best to please him.
I think the activities are quite
varied. Something for everyone's taste. It's really helpful to have visiting time so casual as it helps the family.

The overall standard is good and the medical care and support is excellent.
However, the rooms need some updating and the cleanliness needs to be improved with better and more regular servicing.

The quality, presentation and availability of the food is poor and needs an immediate in-depth review

not least because it is an important and enjoyable part of the day.

My mother was admitted to Trowbridge Oaks after being discharged from hospital far too early and still needing nursing care. The premises and staff were brilliant, the nursing staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. A great relief to the family knowing Mum was being cared for properly
and in comfort. I would highly recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.622)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.622) out of 10 for Trowbridge Oaks Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.622 for Trowbridge Oaks Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (156 Excellents x 5) + (79 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 241 Ratings = 4.622
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Trowbridge Oaks Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2008

I have been a care home manager within Bupa for many years – working at care homes in Shockerwick, Chippenham and Cirencester. I joined the team at Trowbridge Oaks in January 2022.

Before I become a care home manager, I was deputy manager in one of our Bupa care homes for 2 years.
I qualified as a registered nurse in 2002. I trained and worked in Salisbury Hospital and then moved into the care home sector. I always wanted to work in a care home due to my experiences as a young child visiting the care home which my aunt and uncle owned. In my teenage years, I helped care for my grandmother which further confirmed that I wanted to become a nurse.
What I enjoy most about working in care services is being able to help others, whether that be residents, family members or my colleagues, and the satisfaction that this brings. No day is the same and I am grateful that I get to work in an environment that is person and family-centric.

I live locally to the care home – in Westbury.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and partner.

I have a passion for anything science fiction and I love visiting theme parks with my family.

I have a hospital background, with years of experience as a registered nurse. I made the decision to move to the care sector and fell in love with it.

I enjoy the challenge and responsibility of providing the right level of care for our residents and I find the experience very rewarding.

I live locally to the care home – in Trowbridge. I love spending time with my family when I am not at work.

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator Joined: 2024

Before working with Bupa, I was working in the Health and Wellbeing sector through Dance and Holistic Massage. I have always been passionate about person-centred work and about helping people access a better quality of life. My Grandad was in a care home for the end of his life and seeing the team at his care home look after him inspired me to look for work in the care sector. The best part about the job is the people! I’m enjoying connecting with the residents, trying to understand what would bring them joy and fulfilment, as well as hearing about their lives. Our staff team is really welcoming, friendly and hard-working and I’ve loved being embraced into the heart of the home by everyone

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator Joined: 2025

I joined the team at Trowbridge Oaks in June 2025. My background is predominantly in education; I’ve taught in senior schools in England and Australia but also been a Head of Year within a primary school setting. I love talking to and helping people so thought many of my skills from teaching would be transferrable to a care home setting.

I really enjoy spending time with the residents - whether this be chatting to them about their past experiences (the history teacher in me loves this!) or seeing them get involved in and enjoying the activities on offer.

My partner James and I have recently moved to Wiltshire from Essex – we have bought close to Melksham. We love to travel (I’ve lived in Australia, Canada and South Africa), enjoy finding new places to eat and play and watch a range of sports.

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2015

I joined Trowbridge Oaks in 2015 as a kitchen assistant and was promoted to head chef in August 2023.

I attended Clarendon School where I studied home economics as an option for my exams and have enjoyed cooking ever since. I owned a coffee shop for 2 years which I thoroughly enjoyed running. I loved getting to engage with my customers. I then became a manager in a canteen for around 2 years. After which I started at Trowbridge Oaks as a kitchen assistant and worked my way up.

What I enjoy the most about my job is that every day is different. The most enjoyable bit about working in care services is knowing that everything you do is helping others. It’s also an honour to work with people that are so kind and make you smile everyday and to know what you do is always appreciated.

I have 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren, who I enjoy spending time with. My hobbies outside of work are gardening and baking. My family and friends are constantly asking me to make cakes for birthdays and special occasions. I also enjoying watching game shows and cooking programmes.

I joined the team at Trowbridge Oaks in 2025 as an accounts administrator.

I have worked in the retail/hire trade for the last 10 years as an accounts/finance administrator, and before that, I worked for a charity that helped disadvantaged people get back into work and lead more independent lives.

While working at the charity, I felt I was making a difference to the lives of the clients we were helping, and I felt I could continue to make a difference when I moved to the care sector.

I live in Trowbridge, and I have 3 cats. My daughter and her fiancé moved in with me after my husband passed away. I have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren who keep me occupied, and I have just started trying some crafts.

I’ve always loved helping people, so when I moved to Trowbridge, I thought I would see what working in the care home sector was like. It was the best decision I have made! I love my job; every day is different, and we are lucky to have such an incredible team.

Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor Joined: 2022

I have worked for Bupa since April 2022 but have been working in this new role as a housekeeping supervisor since June 2024.

I started as a care assistant at Trowbridge Oaks and I did this for around a year and a half then I decided I wanted to do a bit of housekeeping as well as care so I did a bit of both for a few months but then I made the decision to fully come off of care to go fully into housekeeping in March 2024, this is what lead me to my current role as a housekeeping supervisor.

I originally started my first ever job in a care home setting when I was 18, I started as a housekeeper in a care home but after a few months of working in the care home I found myself wanting to be on the care side more so that’s what started my journey as a carer off and I have worked in a few homes as a care assistant and even once in the community as a senior care assistant before I found my job at Trowbridge oaks.

The thing I enjoy most about working in the care home is spending time with all the residents and their families ensuring they have everything they need and helping to create a nice, homely environment.

I live locally to Trowbridge in Westbury with my partner and our dog. Outside of work, I have a passion for nails, so I also do nails for people from my little salon in my house and have been qualified in nail treatments since June 2023.
