White Lodge Care Home is a converted hunting property, thoroughly renovated for the practice of professional care within picturesque surroundings, with a lake for its backdrop.

Highly qualified staff provide person-centred care to adults with residential and nursing needs, and to those living with dementia, and work tirelessly to enrich the lives of residents through expert care and meaningful occupation.

A programme of activities is offered, including special events and entertainment and regular trips out and about. A music therapy programme is also provided through group and one-to-one sessions. The home also has a professional Head Chef, who leads the kitchen tea, and they work together to create nutritious and delicious menus for residents, families and guests to enjoy.

White Lodge is an exceptional care home with superb staff. My parents are very happy and always comment on how nice everyone is and how they are respected and treated with dignity. Dont think you would find a better home with great staff and wonderful surroundings.

Always a pleasure to come here, as I see staff enjoying their work and connecting with the residents. Everyone's so friendly and helpful. I have been coming here for a number of years, so I have got to know the staff and residents, and seeing the smiling faces always brings a warm feeling to me.

Mum and Dad came into White Lodge on the 11th Match. They have both been very happy. The food is excellent. Staff are kind, considerate and attentive. We all celebrated Mum and Dad's 75th wedding anniversary in the garden. Residents, friends, family and staff were all invited. A fabulous day. A huge
thank you to all the staff who took over organising it for the family. We can't thank you enough.

Really care given. Nothing is missed or avoided. Comfort is the number one priority to all genders. It doesn't seem like a hospice. Nothing is too much trouble in any shape or form. I express my gratitude and well being for all and sundry.

My wife was terminally ill when she was placed in White Lodge at the behest of social services. It was a sound decision and during my wife's time at White Lodge, she has given exemplary care. A feature of White Lodge is the 'can do' attitude of the staff at all levels and their sense of urgency. White
Lodge exudes a warm atmosphere that is the product of the empathy the staff have with their patients. I am very grateful for the manner of its care for my wife at the end of her life. White Lodge is very well managed!

The staff were all very kind. polite and helpful. They responded positively to requests.
All the staff worked extremely hard to give each resident a happy experience. 'Call' buttons were answered immediately. Nurses were knowledgeable and professional in their duties. I felt that residents could have
been encouraged to sit outside in the beautiful grounds. Wheelchair users could have benefitted from having volunteers to wheel them outside. The food was of a good standard and portions were adequate.

My friend is a resident at Barchester White Lodge Care Home in Swindon and is very happy living there. When I visited her recently, she told me how she loved her comfortable room, the meals were tasty, and how helpful and kind all the staff were. She also told me how much she enjoyed the activities
that were offered and the effort and hard work of the activities coordinator went out of her way to make sure she was taking part in things she enjoyed. I saw how nice and clean her room was and was able to take her out for a walk in the beautiful grounds of White Lodge. I also got to meet the activities coordinator and had a lovely chat with her. She is very friendly, caring and makes a big effort to keep the residents busy and occupied. There is a wide and varied program that changes weekly and there are plenty of books, games and newspapers always available.

I visit White Lodge on a regular basis with my therapy dog. I love coming into the home, it's such a welcoming, caring place. The residents I come into contact with are happy and relaxed and are clearly very fond of the activities Coordinator as she is them. The home is always beautifully clean and
fresh and very well maintained as is the garden. Any care/nursing staff I might come into contact with are always friendly and appear to enjoy working at White Lodge. I feel privileged to be able to visit White Lodge as a volunteer and my dog is always happy to see the residents. White Lodge is a very special place.

Throughout her stay at Barchester White Lodge Care Home my mother was treated with dignity, respect and kindness. I was always kept informed of her condition and was invited into the home to meet her GP on one of his regular visits.
Whenever I had contact with the nursing or caring team they were always
helpful, courteous and polite, the same can be said of the reception staff.
The grounds of the home are very well kept and the interior was always clean and tidy. Her room was spacious and well-appointed.
The management of the home have set the highest standards of professionalism and go out of their way to get to know their residents as well as relatives.

I cannot praise the staff and facilities at White Lodge highly enough in what has been an extremely difficult period of time, both my mother and father-in-law through circumstances took residence at White Lodge just prior to the pandemic and as a result, visiting was initially very limited. Both were
welcomed and cared for by an extremely caring team and soon settled in. Sadly my father-in-law has since passed during which time the compassion and support given by all staff members to our immediate family was of an extremely high standard which undoubtedly helped at a very sad time for us all.
My mother-in-law remains a resident at White Lodge and is very happy and well cared for with all care provided by a willing, caring team always with a smile, in particular the activities coordinator who not only ensures residents are invited to join in with several activities provided to suit all levels of ability makes a point of taking time to talk to residents and family members during visiting times.

Mum's been at White Lodge just over a year now through these difficult times I wouldn't want her anywhere else. I have the deepest regard for every single person who works there, thank you from the bottom of my heart. The access for visiting has also been superbly adjusted through all the changes.

Our experience of White Lodge has been great; despite lockdown and Covid, we have been able to see Mum. The introduction of bedroom visits has been wonderful for Mum just to have that extra contact. The staff are brilliant, so warm and friendly. Mum seems to really enjoy getting involved in activities
and keeps herself busy. She is most definitely thriving in the White Lodge environment.

My grandmother is very happy here. The staff all seem lovely, and there are a wide variety of activities for her to take part in, and she always seems to have a lot to say about what she's been up to. The staff/care home have been very accommodating and brilliant at helping to arrange visits despite
Covid. The rooms are lovely with a nice view over the lakes. We're looking forward to sunny visits in the summer sitting on the outside veranda!

I am Ramona Gherendi and I am the General Manager here at White Lodge.


I joined Barchester in 2018 as a Clinical Lead, progressing to Deputy Manager and then General Manager of White Lodge in 2020. My focus at White Lodge is to ensure residents have the best possible life and experiences every single day, supported by the skilled and caring team here. I am committed to person-centred care for all our residents and my door is always open to them and their families.


I have a real passion for nursing beginning my nursing career in 2004 in Romania as a cardiac nurse. I moved to the UK with my family in 2011 and I have worked in adult general nursing in the UK since then.


For anyone considering care for themselves or for a loved one, our doors are open for you to visit and meet the team.

Hello. I am Ioana Morar and I joined the White Lodge team as Deputy Manager in July 2020. I began my nursing career in 2004 in Romania as an orthopaedic nurse and I moved to the UK with my family in 2013. I have worked in the care sector since then and I am passionate about working closely with families to offer support and guidance on the most appropriate type of care for their loved ones. I believe it is important for care staff to understand what a difficult and emotional journey this can be for residents and their families. Hello. I am Elizabeth. I qualified as a nurse in 1985 and joined White Lodge in 2003 as a RGN. I was later promoted to Unit Manager and am now Clinical Lead. I really enjoy making sure residents get the medical support they need to feel as well as they can. I oversee clinical training for the White Lodge team and I ensure residents have their medication and treatment reviewed regularly. I also make sure that nursing processes are understood and followed by the team.

Prior to taking the position, I worked as a care assistant within the home for 2 years loving every minute of my role. My passion is very much in supporting the day to day lives of the people we care for, it is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.


Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining White Lodge that will make for an enriched activities program to be developed, one that keeps them at the heart of the local community. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
