Staff and care are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Our mum was placed at The Orchards for a 4-6 week assessment. We looked for another nursing home after this period only because the location was difficult for family to commute to and from. However, after looking at other homes we agreed that the extra travelling was well worthwhile because of the excellent care our mum has received. We are very happy that mum is now a permanent resident and she is happy and settled.

The carers were magic the staff and the activities staff. The management very poor! I asked to see the manager 3-4 times but not successful. I thought a visit to every room (cell) just to say "everything all right but NO why?

No physio given.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Care Advisor at The Orchards Care Home

Thank you for your comments and I am pleased to note that you thought that the staff were magic. The management team co-ordinated activities for you such as going to the pub for a meal, on an individual basis with the well-being co-ordinator and we are happy that you enjoyed it so much that you...

Our first visit to Orchards to visit our friend was pleasurable, to say the least. All the staff were most courteous and helpful, the place was spotless. This reflected on the people in care, there was a very happy and friendly atmosphere amongst them. I was so impressed, on signing out I actually asked the receptionist for this form.

My mother-in-law has been here since September 2017 and became a resident in November 2017. Since being here, she has been very well looked after and has been very happy. The care she is given is excellent. All members of staff are very caring which gives our family peace of mind to know she is safe and well cared for. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Orchards care home.

When our mom was told she was going to a care home I was very worried, but I needn't have been, everyone was so kind and helpful.
With all the help from the physio's and the carers Mom soon was able to return to her own home.

I would recommend The Orchards care home to anyone.

All the staff from the doctor, nurses, carers, physio, cleaning staff and office staff made my mothers stay as comfortable as possible. They were all cheerful and very helpful. Even when they were very busy, they made time to ensure moms rehabilitation went as well as possible.

Female personal care was provided by a male without consent. Often left in bed until 10.00 and only got up when the family arrived. Would wait ages to take her to the toilet. Weekends, we would have to wait ages before staff let us in. Poor staffing levels. I could write a book of disasters.

Reply from Claire Hurworth, Careline Manager at The Orchards Care Home
On admission to the home, all of our residents are offered the choice of either female or male carers to attend their personal care needs; this is noted and evidenced within their individual care plans.

Residents are also offered the choice of times they wish to be woken each day, this is...
