The care my aunt got was first class in every aspect. She would have liked to stay, she was there to be assessed. Well done to all you carers, cleaners, maintenance and social workers. 10/10.

My family and I would like to say how wonderful the whole staff are at The Orchards Care Home after succumbing to blindness on top of other serious health problems. Three years ago my mother became a resident there and the staff took her under their wings and gradually with their love, caring cajoling and laughter gave her reason to enjoy life again. It has been a journey for us all we did not expect and we too were made to feel part of a new family. Nothing has ever been too much trouble nor any worry not resolved. My mother died on 23rd September 2019 in their loving care. We thank them with all our hearts.

I came to The Orchards as part of a Knit and Natter afternoon.
I was so impressed with the beautiful quality of the home, the kind staff who were alert and visible and the way in which residents are free to join in and express views.

What a breath of fresh air to visit this lovely home.

A wonderful care home with exceptional staff who looked after my Aunty so well when she became a permanent resident in October 2018 up to her death on 3rd April 2019. Nothing was too much trouble and all staff were very friendly, patient, compassionate and understanding and the personal care was second to none. As a family, we were kept informed in all aspects of care and notified immediately on the numerous occasions that my Aunt was poorly and needed to go into hospital. I cannot recommend this care home highly enough. It is a real 'home from home' experience and my aunty was very happy there - and we couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you ALL so much.

My mother-in-law stayed at The Orchards as a temporary resident during September and October 2018. The staff were really excellent, having nursed her back to health, she has returned home but definitely misses them. The facilities and food are very good, with lots of activities and a great little hairdressers - as nursing homes go its one of the best there is.

My late mother received end of life care for seven weeks at The Orchards. I cannot praise the staff enough, they treated my mother with dignity at all times even when her end was near. Everyone who works at The Orchards are dedicated to their particular job role, always friendly and chatty. I cannot find fault with this nursing home and are glad that my mother received her end of life care at this home.

At 93 years young, my dad fractured his hip. He stayed at The Orchards for four weeks rehab, following his fall. The staff were kind, friendly and most helpful during Dad's recovery time.
The facilities at The Orchards are very good, with lounge TV areas, activities and garden facilities.
From the management, nursing or care staff, I give full marks. Thank you, everyone.

A special thank you to the physio, who encouraged Dad and gave him confidence whilst walking.

There are too few carers on at a weekend and the ones that are on are run off their feet. There are never any management on so it feels as if they are not interested in the welfare of both staff and residents. I do not wish to go to the CQC but I will if I feel people's lives are at risk. Do not take it out on the carers who are really kind.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at The Orchards Care Home

Thank you for your comments. The Home Manager works long hours during the week and visits the Home some weekends. She noted that you appeared to have been enjoying the sunshine with your Mother in the courtyard garden on your recent visit on Sunday and did not want to disturb you as you both...

Our mother was a resident in The Orchards for just three weeks and although the location was difficult for the family, we came to appreciate the care and support she received at a time when her problems were escalating and she was approaching the end of her life. The manager and her team treated her with great respect and in the 24 hours before her death, every member of staff from the most junior to the most senior was sensitive, kind and attentive to her and her family. She could not have had a more peaceful or dignified death.
