Absolutely wonderful home! The manager and staff are beautiful people, who could not have done more to make my grandad feel at home during his stay. They excelled themselves and our expectations of care. My grandad returned home after his two weeks' stay like a new man. He thoroughly enjoyed his stay there and cannot praise the staff enough. He has made some lovely new friends which he can’t wait to meet again on his next visit. I would like to give a huge thank you to every member of The Orchards for making this experience the best we could have wished for - for my grandad, but also my family, as we were able to rest easy, knowing that he was in the best hands.

My mom came to The Orchards from Good Hope hospital, as we felt for her own safety she needed 24-hour care. It has been only a temporary placement as we had secured a place elsewhere, but I have to say I cannot fault this home. My mom has thrived, she has gained weight, she looks the best she has looked in months and it’s down to the love and care shown to my mom by the staff. I can’t stress enough what lovely caring people who work so hard and can’t do enough, they are an absolute asset to HC One. They genuinely care and are so friendly - nothing is too much trouble. If we hadn’t secured a place elsewhere, which is nearer to our home, I would keep her there without any hesitation. So to all your lovely staff, a massive thank you to you all. You’ve taken away so many worries and anxieties I had about my mom for the first time in years, I haven’t had to worry about her and she has been really happy and absolutely loves all the carers who look after her. You all deserve a pay rise.

My mum was placed in your care by our local hospital and the love and care shown by everyone we met reflected on just how much they give the people they care for. Mums car was above and beyond the call of duty and the warmness shown to us was equal to that too. When mum passed away they were so supportive and considerate was outstanding and very family orientated. Nothing is too much trouble for them a great team and a great care home too.

As my mum needs to be helped with food at times, her tray, bib and clothes get dirty with food and are not cleaned regularly. (Mainly her tray.)

Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at The Orchards Care Home

We are sorry that you have experienced occasions whereupon food debris has been evident on Mum’s clothing, clothes protector and tray. Maintaining the dignity of our residents is of uttermost importance to us therefore we have discussed this concern with our care staff team to ensure this does not...

It was my Aunty's 100th Birthday this May and the staff did their utmost to make it a special day, within the covid guidelines. All the staff were engaged with the event and decorated the dining area and courtyard for the occasion. The chef baked a fabulous cake and we celebrated in style. Aunty had a lovely day, nothing was too much trouble and it is good to know that my dear Aunty is in a lovely caring environment. Thank you to all the staff team for looking after her.

The care, compassion and humanity shown to my dad and me would mean I would urge anyone to avail of your services. Every single member of staff in all roles are a credit to the care profession, even through the pandemic, they have endeavoured to advocate, support and empathise has genuinely touched my heart.

Thank you to each and every one of you. Keep doing what you do, I am so glad our paths crossed, each of you has restored my faith in care services.

My mum was transferred to The Orchards from another care home in January 2019, and the difference was amazing. She was treated with dignity, respect, care and love, and come back to a little bit of her old self. I was treated with care and support as well, and at the most difficult time of my life, the staff were amazing. Thank you!

Thank you to all the staff for their superb efforts and extra hard work in keeping my auntie and all the residents safe and so well looked after during these especially difficult times. All my telephone calls have been taken in a welcoming and friendly manner with time taken to update me on how my auntie is and on any other updates. A massive thank to one member of staff who is instrumental in helping us communicate with our auntie in the early stages of lockdown and to other members of staff who have been fantastic with communication arranging and organising visits so well and being so welcoming, friendly and helpful to both our auntie and her visitors during visits.

The care home made the decision to close the building to visitors two weeks before the Government decided on lockdown. There isn't much, or enough I can say about the care that my mother has had here. The key to a good care home isn't how good things are when there are no issues, itis how effective things are dealt with if my mother has a problem. The staff is excellent at doing this. If we need something it is addressed instantly. She wants for nothing. We, as a family, have 100% confidence that the staff does everything they can to make my mother comfortable.

The care my aunt has received is faultless. The staff are friendly and approachable at all times. The hygiene of the home is also faultless, even with the current covid19 virus. We had no concerns of not being able to visit, as we knew she was being cared for properly.

The Orchards was amazing with my Grandad when he was in their care. Staff were lovely and always caring, and we would visit the same time every day, and there was a cup of tea already at the table for us. A special thank you to the maintenance guy, who in his break times would play darts with my Granddad.
My grandad was sad to leave and is missing you all.
Thank you all staff for the care you provide my grandad.

Keep safe all.

My Nan stayed at the home for a few weeks after she was in hospital while her house was having renovations for her to go home.
What can I say? Well, the staff were always kind to my Nan and all of our family. The food was excellent and Nan loved it. The care staff could not do enough and there was always a big smile on reception.

I can’t thank the staff enough all the carers, nurses, cleaners and everyone else.
