I have always held many members of the staff with the highest regard for the level of care and the manner in which it is provided. Although, it seems that the home has struggled with organisation and implementation of changes to provide a stable environment for residents and staff due to historical
issues with management.

This care home has had a makeover over the last six months, decorated throughout, new furniture fixtures and fittings. However, attention to detail has been left behind so some rooms are only half done even though rooms have been painted, old curtains are still on order and six months later new light
shades are also required.
One big issue is agency staff all the time which is not only an issue for residents, not knowing strangers coming and going and no relationship building, but also for regular staff who have to shadow the agency people. Surely a recruitment drive would help both parties
The outside grounds of grass and flower beds need maintaining and a new TV ariel is required as you can only get a few channels that the picture does not jump on.
Activities were non-existing until a few months ago. Now residents have someone twice a week which is nice for them.
Regular staff are amazing, the food is nice, the new manager had made some changes for the better and we all hope this continues

Since February this year when there seemed to be a big upheaval in the management structure, the whole place has changed.
Very much for the worst.
Several good people were dismissed or otherwise got rid of and the place has since run on an ever-changing mass of agency staff.
This is of course completely
alien to people suffering from dementia.
When questioned, the people in the office are completely blank and full of feeble excuses.
All residents' families spoken to are of the same opinion.

My dad has been in Evedale since April 2016, he was sent here from the hospital, short term. Funding was paid, had an assessment in April 2017 and funding stopped as dad doesn't need it all.
But I feel staff so an amazing job, but the manager was not at all suitable to be in charge of such a big place.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.524)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.524) out of 10 for Evedale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.624 for Evedale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (149 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 197 Ratings = 4.624
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Evedale Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have always had a passion to care, which led me to train as a nurse. After working as a staff nurse in the NHS, I moved into social care, where I have spent the last 35 years- 17 of those in Home Manager roles across both nursing and residential care.

My ethos is simple: creating a person-centred, home-from-home environment where residents are truly at the heart of everything we do. This commitment is shared by our team at Evedale. We value open communication, mutual respect and collaboration, working together to provide compassionate care and a welcoming atmosphere for every resident and their families.

It is a pleasure to be Home Manager at Evedale, and my door is always open to residents and their families. I welcome conversations about needs, experiences, and suggestions, and I look forward to continuing to make our beautiful home a place where everyone feels valued and supported.
