The care team have provided excellent support. The management have always been available to advise and offer advice, and the care team have worked together with myself to help my father settle in and adjust as easy as possible. The nurses are rotated between the 3 weeks, but they always call and involve
me in any decisions regarding hospital, medication changes and the way forward. The carers are rotated between floor which good variety of interaction and relationship making it more interesting for patients. They have involved me in everything which makes good working relationships and everyone agreeing on correct support for the safe and best welfare of my father.

My mum is currently being cared for at sovereign house and I must say what a wonderful place this is, they treat my mum with the most compassion, dignity and respect I couldn't wish for a better place for her. The care and nursing team are all lovely and equally all staff within the home, the manager
is always available for us to talk to. I would definitely recommend this care home because they do exactly that, care for our loved ones.

My mum has been a resident for just over a year now. The staff are very caring and professional. They really know her and pay attention to her particular needs. The lounge looks into a a small well maintained garden which is easily accessible. There are many and varied events to entertain the residents.
These include musicians, games, crafts, historical items and animal visits. There are frequent updates on Facebook where I can see my mum is involved and stimulated. Thank you!
Reply from Rahi Joshi, Marketing Associate at Sovereign HouseThank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're delighted to hear that your mum is happy and well cared for, and that you enjoy seeing her involved in our activities. Your kind words mean a lot to our team.

My mother was a resident at Sovereign House following discharge from hospital by the NHS. She was mostly bedridden and needed a lot of care and nursing support. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. They went the extra mile to make my mother's stay comfortable.

All the staff are so friendly and helpful and the love and care for my wife's Mum, is incredible. A special mention for one of the carers, she always has a smile on her face and nothing is too much trouble. A Wonderful lady. I would also like to thank another member of staff. I arrived today at Sovereign
House with a flat tyre, he fitted my spare tyre for me. What a Wonderful man. Both of them are a credit to Sovereign House.

Having arrived here with my wife on 6/5/2024, we both quickly settled in to routine and both being bedridden were delighted to find that we had been given rooms next to each other on ground floor, this, I am able to be placed in a wheelchair and transferred to wife's room every afternoon, considering
our ages (85/89) we both feel that we are in a situation where we can relax and enjoy life. Over the past month, I have been happy to recommend elderly friends to seriously consider Sovereign House, if ever in need of care.
Reply from Rahi Joshi, Marketing Associate at Sovereign HouseThank you for sharing your experience. It's wonderful to hear that you and your wife have settled in comfortably and can spend quality time together each day. Your kind words and recommendation mean so much to us.Kind regards, Rahi.

Not a great experience - leaving a paralysed patient with buzzer on the floor no clip to keep it attached and no one comes when calling for help. Sat in bed for 2 weeks before offered any movement to sit in a chair. Not bathed for 3 weeks after arrival. Food repetitive. Catheter left to fill the bag
in the bed, not on a holder at the side. Patient lost all will to eat or live, yet care home suggested she had put weight on. Carers not very gentle. Not attentive towards patients, no interaction. When in pain told to ring 111 or 999 and do it ourselves. Reported complaint to management and no response after 2 weeks (before Christmas 2024) in fact still waiting on a written reply now after 6 weeks. Uncaring.
Reply from Emma, Home Manager at Sovereign HouseWe take all feedback seriously, the care and wellbeing of our residents is always our priority. Until end of January we had not received a written complaint from yourself or your family, but please be assured this will be responded to in line with our policy. We would appreciate if you could forward the complaint you refer to above, to enquiries@minstercaregroup.co.uk as we would like to look into this. We have reviewed our records and it shows that your loved one received daily washing and had baths during their stay with us. Our menus are 4-weekly seasonal and at each meal time residents are offered at least 2 or 3 options for meals, we will always do our best to provide something they would enjoy. Regarding sitting, we were provided instructions from the hospital on admission, your loved one was advised to stay in bed until an OT visited which was chased by the home. We sincerely apologise that you felt this way during your experience and will be responding to your letter.

I have always been made welcome by the staff when I visit. If anything is required and I mention it to the staff, it is always seen to. The only thing that may be improved is that the woman I visit is bedbound and she says she sees no one except for meals and care needs. She'd like the staff to chat
with her at other times. I realise the staff are under pressure but this is one theme that continually rises during my visits.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.480)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.480) out of 10 for Sovereign House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.530 for Sovereign House is calculated as follows: ( (141 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 217 Ratings = 4.53
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sovereign House is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
