My mum recently spent 2 weeks in Sovereign House. She should have been in 6 weeks but it was very obvious that she was not getting the care she needed so we removed her as soon as we could. Overall, there does not appear to be any management control and staff are left to their own devices. She was being given 5 doses of laxatives a day and also, on discharge, we luckily quickly realised that they had not sent all her tablets out with her - this could have been life-threatening.

All concerns raised are investigated, and any required actions are put into place to continue to build on the quality of care at Sovereign House. All medications are administered in line with GP or hospital directions.
Sovereign give an extremely high level of care to my relative. Its staff are outstanding in many ways and well-led in all areas.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
- Outstanding - The service is performing exceptionally well.
- Good - The service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
- Requires Improvement - The service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
- Inadequate - The service is performing badly and we've taken action against the person or organisation that runs it.
- Not rated - we have not yet rated this area of the service, this is normally because the assessments we have carried out have been focused on other key questions.
