All the carers do the very best they can, however, the unit my father is on (Bluebell) needs more carers. They have had 3 more people moved from another unit due to their failing health and it takes 2 carers to deal with personal care. If more than one resident needs help at the same time, they have to wait which is not good enough.

Also, more residents need help feeding, which results in food going cold.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Lyndon Hall Care Home

Thank you for your review. Currently, the staffing ratio is 1 to 4 without the nurse for the 16 residents currently on Bluebell Unit. We will continue to monitor this. We will also review the rota and revisit the skill mix within the Bluebell Unit so that we can ensure that the skill mix is...

My remarks on poor staff could be misleading. The permanent care staff are excellent but the nature of the work demands agency staff and they are not as particular. If staff are rewarded for what they do and are paid accordingly then the industry would not have a recruiting problem. I have seen a big difference in the care that my mother gets and in the past 12 months, this has reduced. There is never sufficient staff on duty.

Lyndon Hall is a reasonably modern building, clean and tidy. The staff were friendly, although I noted a lot of time was spent completing paperwork, rather than interacting with residents.
However, Dad's needs seemed to be met otherwise and we were happy with the personal care provided.

Perhaps more activities could be arranged.

Thank you for your kind comments overall regarding the Home and staff. We are working towards improving the activities and hope to have a full programme of events each month for residents and families to take part in. If you have any suggestions, we would be happy to hear them. We do have to...

Communication needs improvement - eg to resident. Needs more activity for resident. When the weather is good the ones that are capable should be taken outside in the garden.

My Dad has been at Lyndon Hall about 3 months, during that time I have seen things improve.
I am satisfied with Dad's care and getting to know the staff.
I do feel that permanent staff do a fantastic job but sometimes not given the support they deserve.
The food is getting better, but I would like to see more fruit/salad on the tea trolley.
I feel things are getting better and look forward to the coming months.

Staff are always very friendly and welcoming.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Lyndon Hall Care Home

Thank you for your kind comments. I am pleased that you have seen an improvement in the Home and will ensure that this continues over the coming months. I have had a wonderful experience from all the staff from reception, carers, nursing and management staff. Everyone has been very supportive in these difficult times with my father. The care home has its ups and downs but that's part and parcel of life. Everyone is human one can only try to do their best. HC One Lyndon Hall has done their best in looking after dad.

Some care staff are excellent, some care staff are very idle. Summer fayre was a great success. Thanks to some staff, anything I bring to the attention of some staff it is dealt with right away. But some don't care, shouldn't be in the job. Sorry but speak as I find.

Thank you for your comments. I am aware that we have a few staff who require encouraging and managing to understand the role that they have undertaken. We are supporting them with training and guidance from more senior staff to supervise their work activities and ensure that our Residents get the best and kindest care possible.

I have had issues in the past with care but since action taken, it has improved. Uncles mood depends on staff working on that day.
Some staff are more attentive than others. Hoping new manager stays longer than previous ones as seem to change more often than service users do so no continuity.
Activities do take place and good when do but would like to see service users go out more.

Overall I'm happier with care than I was last year.

Whilst the carers do their best, I find that there are residents on Rose wing that need more care/attention (one to one). This takes time off the other residents. Some are too volatile to be left unattended (not enough staff to cope). Refreshment facilities poor at times (no cups). Residents can be left unattended in the lounge. Staff do their best and are always pleasant but not enough at times, leaving not enough time to care properly. Management seem to pay more attention to unnecessary things (decorations etc), not at what really will matter, like activities where residents can get involved on a regular basis

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Care Advisor at Lyndon Hall Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. Currently, there are three care staff on Rose Unit to support 19 Residents. The activity programme is under review at the moment to ensure we offer stimulating activities. The care staff have time to play a full part in this too in encouraging more activity in the unit....
