The Priory understands the importance of creating a relaxing environment for its residents. The home welcomes those who require residential, nursing, palliative, convalescence and respite care and creates a unique care plan for each resident upon arrival.

Situated in the pleasant area of Monkspath, the home has been specifically designed to meet the needs of older people. The Priory is surrounded by large enclosed gardens and benefits from a close location to local amenities and bus routes, while a GP surgery is just a short distance away. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, a flat-screen TV and a 24-hour call system.

Nutritionally balanced meals are prepared using fresh ingredients and a wide range of dishes are available to choose from. Residents' birthdays are celebrated as are all traditional holidays ranging from Pancake Day to Christmas.

A dedicated activities room allows residents to pursue their own hobbies and share interests and a mobile library visits regularly.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother moved to the home in June 2015, away from her home area to be closer to us. She immediately felt at home and all of the staff showed a high level of care and treated her like someone from their own family. They were very quick to identity potential health concerns and quickly contacted professionals.
My mother enjoyed the range of activities or just the opportunity to review personal photos, sadly she had a bad fall but the staff quickly contacted the ambulance service and us. As we were on holiday she was accompanied to the hospital and supported until we arrived. The carers visited her several times and were always in contact.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.544) out of 10 for The Priory Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.544 for The Priory Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (298 Excellents x 5) + (101 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 434 Ratings = 4.544
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Priory Care Home is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Senior Housekeeper Joined: 2007

We are all like a large family here at The Priory. My passion is leading the team to perform exceptionally in infection control procedures as I am the infection control champion for the home. I am also an engagement champion which involves me linking with other local homes to share best practice ideas and cascade to the team here. I thoroughly enjoy my role and look forward to many years to come. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to Reggae and I love a nice cold rum and coke.

We particularly love doing themed days such as beach days, bastille day and various charity events involving the community. In my spare time I love holidays and dancing as I am part of a local dance organisation.
