My mother was a resident at Delves Court since September 2019. She has dementia is partially sighted and profoundly deaf. The care she received whilst resident has at times been very good with some individually excellent staff to being very lacking at others. Since March 2020 we have not been able to
see our mother other than one window visit and a visit outside the foyer for her 90th Birthday. During this time my mother has deteriorated, losing a large amount of weight and noticeably becoming withdrawn during Skype calls. The family decided it was in my mothers best interests to move her to a specialist dementia home and after four weeks she has gained weight, engaging with care staff, had her medication reduced and not demonstrating any aggressive behaviour we had been informed she had started displaying. The decision to move her although hard has been the right one for her. We will be able to visit my mother in March.

Regretfully, we removed Mum from the home in Feb 21, we felt we had no option. We were very concerned that there were no arrangements in place for visiting and no details of how and when this would be possible. Since March 2020 we had two brief window visits. We were very concerned that Mum’s health
and wellbeing were deteriorating as the months went on. Seeing her on the Skype calls getting thinner, more distressed and ill was heartbreaking. Within a couple of weeks in her new home, she is looking brighter, she has colour in her cheeks again, she is more alert and is now eating well. We also have had information about how and when we can visit. We felt that we made the right decision.

It is hard to say how profoundly impressed our family is with everyone at the Court. For complex reasons, my father was entrusted to your care much too late. He ultimately only spent one week with you before going into hospital, where he passed away a week later. Yet in that one week at Delves, he was
treated with such kindness, warmth and respect by every member of staff we encountered: cooks, cleaning staff, nurses/carers, "activity lady", the management - literally everyone.
My father was virtually unable to speak at this stage, but everyone took time to talk to him, be with him, try to understand his needs and wants and make life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for him. The other residents too reached out and sought to befriend him, although he was unable to respond. My sole regret is that he was unable to experience this haven of love and humanity for longer, when his health was still better. We are deeply grateful for all you did for him, and for us, his family, too.

All staff were friendly and would help us if asked. Activities were advertised clearly and we would always donate to the causes. They looked after my Mom and I am extremely grateful for their hard work. I have gone there today with some chocolates for the staff 1 year after Mom passed away and had £5
worth of tickets for their raffle. God bless all the staff.

I am very pleased with the love, care and support shown to my dear friend. The carers will go out of their way to help and nothing is too much trouble. Everybody is happy and comforting to be around. My friend has now grown much stronger and is able to return home. This would not be possible without
Delves Court care home.

My mother has been in this home for 4 years and I couldn't wish for a better place for her to spend her final years. It is a lovely home, well kept, clean, no smells, staff are very friendly and caring, we are always made welcome and any queries are always answered and sorted out. New management has
taken over this year and it is still run very efficiently and caring. Nothing is too much trouble, they have a variety of things to keep them occupied for those that wish and I cannot thank them enough for all they do.

If members of the new management team and the members of staff continue working hard and continue making improvements as they have done in the past few months I feel that there is o reason as to why this home cannot be one of the best in the area. I can only speak for myself and family but I am more
than happy with the service provided and the respect that is given to us as a whole.

The care home has changed dramatically over the last 6 months. The staff have been trained to a much better standard. Friendly and safe, I would highly recommend Delves Court. The management are very friendly and caring. All staff genuinely care for the residents. I feel that I have confidence in the
care they give my mother.

My husband has been at Delves Court since February 2017 because he has dementia and went off his legs so he needs to be hoisted up which is something I can no longer do. Like everyone, he does not like being away from his own home but has had to accept it. We find Delves Court to be very acceptable
for our needs. The staff from management down to cleaner are all very friendly and good at their job. They all put the patients first and also make visitors welcome no matter what time you go.

My mother has been in Delves Court for 2 and a half years. She is very happy and content and refers to it as home, which for us is lovely to hear and she says "you can not find a nicer place to live". Her room is beautiful, newly refurbished last year and mom says it's like a 5-star hotel. From management
to all staff, they work hard to provide the best of care and attention to detail to make sure that Delves Court is the best it can be and to provide the care and love given to not only mom, but every resident. This is all we could have wished for mom. They have a team of three activity ladies who arrange all sorts of activities daily for the residents from one to one chats, games, bingo and entertainment with films and singers. How lovely.

I have lived here four years in June. I have always been treated with respect by nice happy staff. If you need someone to talk to there is someone to listen it is a relaxed atmosphere no overbearing rules. Relatives and friends are made to feel welcome and are allowed to visit all day. Living here I
am comfortable and well looked after by the staff.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.542)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.542) out of 10 for Delves Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.804 for Delves Court is calculated as follows: ( (114 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 138 Ratings = 4.804
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.738 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Delves Court is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.938
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
