This is the first experience we have with a care home. We know we couldn't have picked a better place to look after my father. The staff are genuinely caring. We haven't been able to visit him for the past year, but they have kept in regular touch with us and sent us photos. He looks happy, content
and well-fed. He refers to them all being one happy family. We cannot put into words how much the staff mean to is, and how grateful we are.
Reply from Swan House Home Manager, Home Manager at Swan HouseThank you so much for your kind review. Your dad is a pleasure to look after, always smiling and so happy here at Swan House. Hopefully, you will be able to see him very soon.

My mother resided at Swan House, I couldn't ask for a more loving and homely place for her to spend her last months. The care is impeccable, the staff and management are friendly and always willing to help with any issues or problems I may have had which were few. My mom loved the staff and they all
made her feel welcome and comfortable, even at the end, she had all the TLC that she and I as a daughter could have asked for. Wouldn't have wanted her anywhere else than Swan House. Thank you to all the staff for everything you do.

Having cared for dad at our home for nearly 3-years, the time came for dad to go into a care home.
Swan House is local to us and dad had had several respite breaks while we went on holiday. We knew dad was in safe hands when he became a resident in Jan 2020.
In the 6 months, dad was a resident, the
care team went above and beyond with looking after dad.
Then with Covid, the staff were brilliant even though I couldn't go inside I had to see dad by looking through his room window, I knew the staff were working so hard to look after everyone.
When dad passed peacefully away the staff were so sympathetic.
This meant so much to our family.
We can't thank Swan House enough for all they did for dad.
Thank you all so much.

The care at Swan House is exceptional. We, as a family are absolutely delighted with the care our Dad is receiving there. The staff are superb, they react in an instant, and we are so happy he is with them. We have complete peace of mind, above all he is very happy there. Can't thank them enough.

All of the staff at Swan House are polite and courteous they always greet us with hello and say goodbye but more importantly they treat each resident with dignity and respect. Every week the carers do their best to entertain the residents wether it be bingo or a good old fashioned sing song which they
all seem to enjoy and everyone is encouraged to join in. The home is always kept clean and tidy and the handy man is always seen about repairing or improving the facilities. I would definatley reccomend.

I have been visiting friends in Swan House since July 2017. In that time, I have been very impressed with the caring of every member of staff to residents. There is a lovely atmosphere in Swan House. I have a lovely daily visit and am happy that my friends are very happy to live in Swan House. I have
built up a great relationship with every member of staff, including kitchen staff and domestic staff. A lovely caring home indeed.

My sister is happy in the Care Home, where the staff are very friendly with her and treat her with respect. Everyone looks after her with kindness and she has become very close and fond of staff and they are like a big happy family together. The rooms are light and airy and have an en-suite, which
allows the residents their privacy. The facilities are good and the Home is always clean and tidy. The residents have access to the garden, where they can enjoy a coffee with family or friends or just sit outside in the warmer weather.

Swan House is a very friendly and caring environment which caters brilliantly for my mother's needs. The staff and management are a very professional team who interact well with the residents and their families alike. Despite obvious constraints on their time, they are always willing to discuss any
issues raised. We are always well informed as to all aspects of mother's health and general welfare. We are happy this care home is the right choice for mother.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.859)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.859) out of 10 for Swan House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.884 for Swan House is calculated as follows: ( (198 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 224 Ratings = 4.884
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Swan House is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
