If you visit late afternoon you often have to wait up to 20 minutes for someone to let you in. No one answers the door buzzer. I also think the food looks unappetising and my mom dislikes virtually everything she is given. My mother is not a great eater but she now seems to have given up on eating altogether.
I feel the look of the food doesn't help. My mom often complains that staff take a long time to come when she rings the buzzer - perhaps you need to recruit more care staff.
Reply from Sally McCOy, Manager at Anville Court Care HomeHi, I am sorry that you have been having such issues. I was not aware that you had such concerns and would be pleased to meet to discuss them. In regard to the doorbell, we have staff at reception until 6pm in the evening. If you ever have to wait, I would again encourage you to come and talk to me when you are here so I can look at what was happening to delay anyone answering the door.
All our food is cooked on site daily. Your mum is offered a choice of menu and should she not want what is on offer then if she wishes an alternative would be available. If you wish to be here to support your mum at meal times it might encourage her to eat more. Your mum prefers to take her meals in her room alone and not go to the dining room.
Our staffing numbers are in line with national guidance and we ensure that everyone is attended to when they call us. I will review this for your mum so I can provide you with the information when you are next here.

My lovely mom was given a room at Anville Court when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The home provided a caring, positive and cheerful place for her. We were able to make her room her own with photos, flowers and bedspreads from home. The staff were kind, cheerful and polite and always made
family welcome. They looked after my mom so well and I will forever be grateful to the manager and her fantastic team for that.
Reply from Helen Whitehouse, Manager at Anville Court Care HomeDear M G,
Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement for the staff. I will make sure that they are told of how pleased you were with your mom's care.
Kind regards and grateful thanks,
Helen Whitehouse,
Manager.

My father has been very well cared for since arriving at Anville, (more than two years ago) and his health has gradually got better and better, for which I'm very grateful. The past six months or so have been very challenging, and I have been very impressed at the way the home has coped in such difficult
times. They have made sure residents are as safe as possible, whilst also recognising the extra importance of social activities whilst visitor restrictions are in place. I would like to thank all the staff for their friendliness, kindness and professionalism: nurses, carers, kitchen staff, cleaners, managers, activities staff, office and reception, and anyone else I've not mentioned.
Reply from Helen Whitehouse, Manager at Anville Court Care HomeThank you for your kind words: they are greatly appreciated by all of the staff team.
We look forward to welcoming you back into the home when we are allowed.
Many thanks for your continued patience and support in these unprecedented times

My mother has dementia, survived COVID, and pneumonia. The carers have been very attentive and looked after her. They have had to feed her and give her drinks as well as joisting from bed to chair and chair to bed. I am concerned about the front entrance as it sometimes does not close properly and if
you do not check it, could be unlocked. Sometimes it is open when I arrive.

My mother has been in Anville Court for about 8 years she has deteriorated greatly over the last 3 years but the high level of care she receives here we are convinced has lengthened her life span, the home is spotless and the standard of nursing 1st class they have also kept us informed as a family
of everything concerning our mum and we know how much she is loved by them all. We are extremely grateful for their level of care and concern not only for mum but for us also.
Reply from Helen Whitehouse, Manager at Anville Court Care HomeThank you for your kind words and compliments, they mean an awful lot. I will make sure that I pass your comments and gratitude's onto the team.

My grandad has been in here for quite a long time (about 4 years) but the staff are amazing and have cared for him so well. I would definitely recommend this to other people because of the friendly care and for the amount of effort they put into caring for him everyday.

During his stay at Anville Court, he was treated with nothing but kindness and dignity during the last few months of life. The staff and manager showed great compassion to him and fully understood and met his every need. Kindness and compassion were always shown to me too. The home has a lovely garden
and the rooms are bright and airy, many overlooking gardens. Dad took great delight watching birds as all around the garden bird feeders have been placed.
Reply from Helen Whitehouse, Manager at Anville Court Care HomeThank you for your kind words: the staff work extremely hard to provide a high standard of care and try to meet the person's needs at all times. We are far from perfect but we care and we do try hard. Once again thank you.

My mother has only been a resident for a short time. The environment is friendly and to date, I am happy with the personal care of my mother. My mother's bedroom could do with redecoration as on one wall it is evident the radiator is blowing dirt up the wall. It is early days but at the moment I would
only criticise the care of my mother's clothing, although clean the washing of them leaves some of them ruined, more care needed with laundry as this can be very distressing for relatives.

A first-rate service was provided for my father in his last 3.5 months of life after palliative surgery for colon cancer. He also had a very weak heart.
He had complex needs but was psychologically sharp to the end. Palliative care was excellent.
The staff were kind and helpful. We were given notice
when the end was near and were able to be there when he died.
Overall the people were first rate and kind and attentive. Care was very good.
My wife and I will never forget what they did for us. They are still in our minds.
A special group of people.
They also allowed our Italian greyhound to visit, and he provided much comfort for my father over the time he was there and was with him at the end.
A heartfelt thanks. What you did will never be forgotten.

Looks ok on the outside, but don't be fooled by the swarmy staff..mom was in there for a short while(thank god) and the standard of care was very poor!! On several visits, mom was in bed and the emergency call button was on the floor near the window. I complained numerous times and just got false apologies.
On one occasion I pressed the button and no one came for 27 minutes.
Mom died in there two days ago and I went to collect her belongings today and was told by the nurse"your mother had a terrible death!! as she had no medication??

When we had to look for care for our relative, it seemed like a daunting task. I must say when we walked into Anville Court we just knew he was gong to be well looked after. The staff are amazing, nothing is ever too much trouble. I have never met anyone as kind and caring as the manager, he feels so
at ease living at Anville Court, he says he feels like he's just gone home and all of his new friends have come round for a cuppa. Just fantastic, I'm thinking of booking my room now, ready for me in a few years time!

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.724)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.724) out of 10 for Anville Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.724 for Anville Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (196 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 257 Ratings = 4.724
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Anville Court Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Kelly Richardson and I am the Manager of Anville Court Nursing Home.

I began my nursing career in 1996 when I joined the Army as a Health Care Assistant and went on to qualify as a Registered Nurse in 2006 at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine in Birmingham. I served multiple operational tours during my 14 years in the Army and left to join the NHS in 2010 to take on a new challenge. From there I developed into Management and have loved it ever since.

I have very high standards and a passion for elderly care and Dementia and I Pride myself on person-centred care as a Nurse which is why I went on to become a Nurse Manager.

I aim for all our Residents to have the best Quality of life whilst living at Anville court including meaningful activities and daily person-centred care.
