Overall Experience

Mom had a pleasant room that was kept tidy and cleaned daily. Most of the staff were very friendly and respectful. They answered and dealt with any queries we had. The management were very approachable and dealt with any concerns we had immediately and kept us informed. Mom was a resident for five years, so a long time. During the last two days of Mom's life, the staff were so respectful and many came to say a final goodbye to Mom. We also, as a family, were so well looked after day and night.

Your mum was a lovely lady who will sit in the hearts and memories of many of our staff. Many thanks for taking the time to do this review, I will ensure the staff know how much you appreciated the care given.

When I went to visit the manager and staff were lovely. I settled my husband in on the Tuesday and as I left one of the nurses said 'don't forget we're here for you, too'. Well, this may have been so for about four and a half days. My husband passed away suddenly at around 4 am the following Sunday. I felt the night staff had done all they possibly could for him.
The following day myself and a friend collected his belongings. We were met by a rather surly receptionist and apart from the perfunctory 'sorry for your loss' from one of the nurses no one else came to speak to us. Myself and my friend both found this strange. Was the manager or someone senior not there, or busy?
It was five days later when the manager finally rang me and only because I'd phoned the day before enquiring about my husband's on loan wheelchair.

It just shows empathy and compassion go out of the window when someone is not making money for you. An acknowledgement in those first few days would have meant a lot to me.

Reply from Sally McCOy, Manager at Anville Court Care Home
I am sorry for your experience in a very difficult time. As you identified I was not in the building when you came to collect his belongings otherwise I would most defiantly have come to offer condolences.

I rang when I was back and I apologise for not being in touch sooner. I apologise for your...

As a resident, I have first-hand experience of Anville's qualities. The homely feel you seem to be caught up in, like being in a room full of family and friends, everyone being comforted and prepared for their day, yet no hustle and bustle. A relaxed feel, the way you like to do things, the things you like to do, it's all kept as you would like making it a happy and relaxed atmosphere. Everything is taken care of from your aspirin to your eyes, there is really no need to worry at all.

From the moment my mum arrived at Anville Court Care home she has been made to feel welcome. All of the staff have been amazing! Nothing is too much trouble. Only kind words to say about all of the staff! Mum is very happy even though she has been sent for her final care months. I would highly recommend Anville Court. Thanks to everyone for the support given to me too during this difficult time.

Since November 2020, my husband had been in the care home. He is peg-fed and very comfortable there. The staff knows he loves his sports and put his TV on for him. He is well looked after by the friendly, caring staff, who in turn have looked after my family. They are so caring right from the top, to the cleaners and nurses, carers and the people on the desk, in the office and entertainment are lovely people. Once again I cannot thank them all enough I ring twice a day to ask how he is and say good morning and good night and they always have a chat and ask how I am.

Thank you for the review. The families of our residents are as important to us, as we all want the best for them. We want everyone to have a positive experience when they come to Anville. I will make sure the staff are given the positive feedback you have given on them. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Mom was taken to Anville Court Care Home with end-stage dementia. All staff very friendly during a difficult time and restricted visiting due to Covid. Rooms lovely and able to take photos and mugs from home to make it feel even more like home. Only have one criticism - we received no information regarding services available eg. hairdressers and how to pay for them. We received no information at all when Mum was taken there.

I am sorry that you didn't receive any information about the added extras we can provide. If you visit late afternoon you often have to wait up to 20 minutes for someone to let you in. No one answers the door buzzer. I also think the food looks unappetising and my mom dislikes virtually everything she is given. My mother is not a great eater but she now seems to have given up on eating altogether. I feel the look of the food doesn't help. My mom often complains that staff take a long time to come when she rings the buzzer - perhaps you need to recruit more care staff.

Hi, I am sorry that you have been having such issues. I was not aware that you had such concerns and would be pleased to meet to discuss them. In regard to the doorbell, we have staff at reception until 6pm in the evening. If you ever have to wait, I would again encourage you to come and talk to me...

My lovely mom was given a room at Anville Court when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The home provided a caring, positive and cheerful place for her. We were able to make her room her own with photos, flowers and bedspreads from home. The staff were kind, cheerful and polite and always made family welcome. They looked after my mom so well and I will forever be grateful to the manager and her fantastic team for that.

My father has been very well cared for since arriving at Anville, (more than two years ago) and his health has gradually got better and better, for which I'm very grateful. The past six months or so have been very challenging, and I have been very impressed at the way the home has coped in such difficult times. They have made sure residents are as safe as possible, whilst also recognising the extra importance of social activities whilst visitor restrictions are in place. I would like to thank all the staff for their friendliness, kindness and professionalism: nurses, carers, kitchen staff, cleaners, managers, activities staff, office and reception, and anyone else I've not mentioned.

My mother has dementia, survived COVID, and pneumonia. The carers have been very attentive and looked after her. They have had to feed her and give her drinks as well as joisting from bed to chair and chair to bed. I am concerned about the front entrance as it sometimes does not close properly and if you do not check it, could be unlocked. Sometimes it is open when I arrive.

My mother has been in Anville Court for about 8 years she has deteriorated greatly over the last 3 years but the high level of care she receives here we are convinced has lengthened her life span, the home is spotless and the standard of nursing 1st class they have also kept us informed as a family of everything concerning our mum and we know how much she is loved by them all. We are extremely grateful for their level of care and concern not only for mum but for us also.

During his stay at Anville Court, he was treated with nothing but kindness and dignity during the last few months of life. The staff and manager showed great compassion to him and fully understood and met his every need. Kindness and compassion were always shown to me too. The home has a lovely garden and the rooms are bright and airy, many overlooking gardens. Dad took great delight watching birds as all around the garden bird feeders have been placed.

My mother has only been a resident for a short time. The environment is friendly and to date, I am happy with the personal care of my mother. My mother's bedroom could do with redecoration as on one wall it is evident the radiator is blowing dirt up the wall. It is early days but at the moment I would only criticise the care of my mother's clothing, although clean the washing of them leaves some of them ruined, more care needed with laundry as this can be very distressing for relatives.
