My mom is a resident in Robinswood. She is happy and content living there and that is due to the wonderful care she receives from all the staff. From the department managers, carers, cleaners and laundry ladies, all are a credit to the home.

Our father was treated with the utmost respect and dignity during the three months he spent at Eversleigh Care Centre until his sad passing. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly care team. He was always looked after. With a special mention to the night shift who were all very professional and
understanding throughout the last hours that he spent with us.

The building is good and taken care of. Furniture now good. The nurses and carers are good at their jobs. They do keep a good eye on everyone. They are caring, gentle, educated, they are good with dementia people. Activities are well thought out and planned.

My dads illness is progressing whilst receiving palliative care. During this time the staff at Eversleigh Care Centre are treating my dad with excellent care and also maintaining his dignity through their sensitive approach. I am always informed of changes in his needs and also when I visit I am treated
with a welcoming, caring and understanding approach by unit managers and carers. They all have a lovely approach with dad too and things are always actioned promptly.

Unit managers 10/10. Activities coordinators 10/10. Handful of carers 10/10. The majority of carers are 10/10. One carer 1/10. Rooms - why not cleaned regularly - pleasant cleaner. Food, a handful of meals were nice, a few were just about adequate. The majority of the food is below par. Chips with cheese
grated on top of the smallest baked potato with a teaspoon of cheese, watery, tasteless soup, and cake, cake, dry cake and cake, too much cake. I wonder what the nutritional value of meals is. Management below expectations. Beaker cups need a good clean.

My dad moved here in January 2024, aged 93, and has found a new lease of life. The staff are fantastic - special shout out to the care team. They are so caring and proactive in tapping into dad's interests and encouraging him to join in activities. We're currently at the D-Day sing-along and there couldn't
have been a more joyous celebration in the UK. Well done to everyone involved. Love to all residents and staff.

My husband is looked after very well in every way. Our little problem is that not enough incontinence pants. He seems to have gone from pullups to tabs and now just pads (not his size).

We could not be happier with Eversleigh Care Centre-it felt like home from our first tour. Mum was in Memory Suite and all the team were fantastic. Mum was cared for with dignity and kindness all of the time. In the final 3 weeks of her end-of-life care, my sister and I were able to stay as much and
as long as we wanted to. We were brought endless pots and cups of tea and even offered food. Two members of staff in particular and all the other carers-thank you.

Dad was there three weeks and was unhappy. He hated the noise, the food, the tea and the squash. Accommodation was unsuitable for a mobile person. He said he was told off for walking outside his room and had little space to move inside his room. Staff seemed too busy to spend time with him or chat.
He was too confused to use his phone so we’d ring them but it was always a fight to get to speak to him. They’d say his unit was busy, no one was answering, could they ring us back - then as often as not, they wouldn’t ring back. I came home to four missed calls one day so I rang and asked what had happened - they said they’d tell me in an hour because the nurse was in a meeting so I had an hour fearing the worst. He’d had a fall and been taken to hospital - he had two falls whilst there. Also, they didn’t provide soap! So he was going to the loo, wiping himself and washing his hands with no soap. And the flush on his loo was weak so he couldn’t use it. An unpleasant experience for all.

Reply from Paul O'Grady, Operations Director at Eversleigh Care Centre

I am very sorry to hear of your experience at Eversleigh Care Centre. It is clear that our home was not the right place for your father and could not meet his needs. We had not received accurate information from the NHS hospital that arranged the discharge which was part of the reason we were unprepared. I also apologise that further issues were not resolved. We will take on board your comments and try to ensure that we are providing a good quality of service in the future.

The management was unapproachable and not very friendly, communication is not their strong point. My loved one was not very happy here. Some of the care staff are lovely but quite clearly unhappy because of how the place is run.

I had called the care home to check on my mother and the nurse in charge spoke to me unprofessionally, which I find really disrespectful as I only wanted to know how my mother was doing. This really makes me wonder how they may speak to their residents at the care home.

Reply from Courtney Jarvis, Office Manager at Eversleigh Care Centre

Hi Kerry,
Apologies we were having problems with our phone system, we are happy to say that this has now been resolved and a brand new phone system has been put in place to ensure communication between relatives and the home is much better moving forward. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact us on office@eversleighcarecentre.co.uk.

On visiting my mother she was asleep on her bed but a full tub of my mother's various medication was just left at the side of her bed. I find this appalling as anyone could have taken them and also the staff will not know if my mom has taken them. Various members of staff also were ridiculing my mom.
This is totally disrespectful. This was witnessed by my daughter. My mother had told me about things like this going on but I put it down to my mom's dementia.

The staff - nurses, carers (all) couldn't have been more helpful, putting themselves out in all ways to make my stay under difficult times the best it could be. I would encourage anyone if care is needed not to be afraid to go to Eversleigh Care Home. They will be made more than welcome and be made
well (if that's the outcome) by the atmosphere of the friendliness and caring of all there. From all staff to the executive staff, all were putting themselves out to be helpful in all circumstances.

All the team at Eversleigh Care Centre have always been extremely helpful, caring, and friendly. Everyone goes out of their way to make my husband comfortable, to encourage him to eat more the chef/staff will make him any meal or snack that he wants. When it was agreed he could change rooms, to have
a better view of the outside, he was moved the next day. We are grateful to everyone at the home for making us feel confident in his care and wellbeing.

We are very pleased with my husband's care and he does seem very content at this care home. He is very well looked after and he is always clean and tidy. However, we have marked 'poor' for activities as we don't know of any that he does. Although bedridden he loves to have a go at painting. We have
provided magic painting books and a painting by numbers book. We try to do a bit with him which he loves but given only half an hour to visit there isn't time to do much. Perhaps he could have some help as his activity. Also, our adult grandchildren could be allowed to visit him as they haven't seen him for over two years.

My father was a resident at Eversleigh for approximately a year before his passing in October 2021. I live in Australia and have been unable to travel to the UK due to COVID border restrictions. The staff at the care home have been fantastic in arranging regular video chats with my father. Whenever
I spoke to my father, he always paid special mention to the staff and how well they looked after him. Occasionally, he would hang up as his breakfast turned up. Never get between a man and a good breakfast sandwich! I would like to thank all the staff that looked after my father. I occasionally got to speak to them before talking to my father and always had lovely chats. They even went above and beyond when I managed to send a hamper to a house next door to Eversleigh. They were able to retrieve the hamper. Although I never got to visit my father at Eversleigh, they could keep me connected to my father during his time there! Thank you all!

Thank you for your kind words, Peter. I will pass your message on to the staff. It must have been so difficult to be so far away and not to be able to visit. It was a pleasure to look after your dad. We strive to do the best for our residents. Wishing you all the best. Regards.

My father stayed at the Eversleigh Care Centre for the past 10 months, as a dementia patient with mobility issues, I have nothing but praise for the staff of the centre, especially with the restriction due to covid. With myself living overseas, and my father never very good for saying he was unwell
or in pain, it was very comforting to know my father was in safe hands who always made sure he got the care he needed. I was always able to make video calls on a regular basis with the help of the care staff. He always enjoyed chatting with the staff and always praised them on the calls and how good the food was. When I did get to visit the centre, it was very clean with beautiful gardens.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.819) out of 10 for Eversleigh Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.383 for Eversleigh Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.383

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.436 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eversleigh Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.536

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
