Overall Experience

My mother has been in Broomy Hill for approximately 6 months. I am exceptionally happy with her residing there. She is so lovingly cared for by a staff that consistently deliver kindness, caring and fun combined with a level of service and professionalism that is above and beyond my expectation levels, which were already set pretty high! I was recommended Broomy Hill Nursing Home by their 'sister' home in Hereford where my father was also really well cared for, I am so pleased that this recommendation was forthcoming. My mother was particularly ill over Christmas and along with this came incredibly high needs and dependency putting pressure on the staff at Broomy Hill, all of which they delivered fantastically and with zero fuss. Knowing my mother is in this type of environment takes so much of the worry out of caring for an elderly family member, something that I am aware so many people struggle with. Thank you, thank you, thank you Broomy Hill.

My uncle arrived at Broomy Hill Nursing Home Friday 24th. He was moved from another home. I'm happy so far as the staff are getting my uncle out daily in the chair and seems so much happier for it.

I'm so grateful Broomy Hill Nursing Home accepted him.

My mother has just returned home from six weeks of respite care at Broomy Hill.

No other words, than perfect. Most caring, nothing too much trouble for all the staff. Whilst there, she was treated with warmth and dignity. They provide a very high standard of care.

I visit my old friend, who is now over 90 years old and who, sadly, has a good deal of memory loss and has been diagnosed with dementia. Despite this, he is happy, well cared for and content to be in his placement. His physical appearance belies his age, confirming the standard of care he receives. His room is tidy, although lacking in homely comforts, as his pictures could be hung, rather than left in his bag. The staff are helpful and responsive to needs, providing a warm environment for all the residents.

Our mum has only been at Broomy Hill for a couple of weeks, but so far our experience of this nursing home is very pleasing. Everyone from managers to staff have shown us and mum, great support. Every request has been dealt with and nothing is too much trouble. We feel mum is in professional hands. Wish we had got mum here earlier.

The care provided for my mother in her final weeks of life was outstanding. She said to me on at least two occasions that, I was not to worry, as she was happy at Broomy Hill and everyone was so kind to her. I didn’t feel uncomfortable leaving her after a visit, because, I knew she was happy and so well cared for. The staff were always friendly and welcoming when I visited, nothing was ever too much trouble for them. I cannot praise Broomy Hill highly enough and would recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.

I wish to thank the new management team and all their staff for helping my mother settle into her new life at Broomy Hill, under difficult personal circumstances. My mother lost her sight very suddenly last year and with her increasing dementia, gets unsettled very quickly. The staff are helping her to manage what is a great change in her life, with great care and consideration. They keep me well informed and when I visit, Mum is always positive about the care she is given.

The care, patience and understanding of the staff were faultless in looking after Mam who was suffering greatly from dementia with Lewy bodies causing her to be abusively angry most of the time. They were kind and sympathetic not only to her but also supportive of the whole family. Thank you all.

My wife entered Broomy Hill Nursing Home in July 2017 with vascular dementia. She remained until her death in September 2018. This nursing home deals with patients who generally have the most severe problems, and therefore the staff have a more demanding job. They do this with patience and understanding. I have visited over 400 times and have respect for the work they do and gratitude for the care and affection shown to my wife.

With over 25 years of experience as a qualified general nurse, my career began as a district nurse, followed by advanced practice roles. I have worked in GP surgeries and urgent care centres before transitioning into care home management.

Originally from Liverpool, I moved away when my daughter left for university, although my heart remains connected to my beloved city. Four years ago, my husband and I, along with our two dogs, decided to settle in Hereford after years of living a nomadic lifestyle. We now enjoy a more rooted life, cherishing the time spent with our two grandchildren, who keep us active and youthful.

My passion lies in providing quality care for older adults, especially those living with dementia. I find great fulfilment in stepping away from the desk and working directly alongside my dedicated team.

Since joining Ashberry in August 2023, I have felt immensely proud to be part of this exceptional team. I am excited about the future and look forward to leading Broomy Hill towards continued excellence in care.
