After an initial difficult 2 weeks when my mother was placed in April, I can honestly say that she is now a totally different person. Previously she would not eat, spat out her food and meds and was constantly agitated and clingy. After the first 2 weeks she settled down and now takes her meds without problems and eats all her food and even feeds herself which she hadn't done for a long time. She engages in conversation and genuinely looks happier. It is beyond belief how much she has changed in the past 3 months. In my opinion, I can only put that down to the stimulation she gets from the staff and other residents, and the time, care and patience she receives from all the staff at Moundsley Hall. I can't thank them enough knowing my mother is well looked after and for giving me my role as a daughter instead of a carer back to me and of course my peace of mind.

Staff and managment very friendly, very helpful and reassuring to my husband and me. I was emailed most days to inform me how my husband was, and he was about to talk to me nearly every day by phone while I was abroad. I was sent a photo of him having a drink in a coffee shop, which was nice. My husband praised the staff continuously, which was very reassuring for me. They make a special effort to mark his religious celebration. If the need arises again, I would not hesitate to book him into Moundsley Hall.

My sister was at Kensington House at this care village for 4 years. The fear of her being in someone else's care and the scare stories you hear about patients treatment in care is worrying. However, she couldn't have found a better place. Where to start....the care she received was exemplary, the staff couldn't be more welcoming to us as a family. We didn't always make visiting appointments and instead would just turn up. Nothing was too much trouble. We could stay as long as we wanted and although she wasn't happy moving there initially, it soon became home. The activities for patients were plenty and when you couldn't make it seeing them on Facebook was great. Being able to ring through to the home and speak directly to someone who knew her, knew her day and noticed any issues was comforting. My sister has passed now and they've continued their support to us to get everything sorted. If you need to choose a care home this is the one.

The team were very helpful, especially Nora. It was always pleasant to see her, and everyone was friendly during my visits. Kiran was incredibly helpful and was always there whenever I needed support. Visited my sister after she had been in hospital for 3 weeks, where health care was excellent, but the nursing care left a lot to be desired. Since being back at Moundsley, my sister looks well cared for and engaging with all the staff who take the two to interact with her. My sister really enjoys all the activities, especially the singers who come for the afternoon entertainment and also the church services.

During times of challenge, it is crucial not to project horror and anger onto any third party in life. My mother has Dementia, it is a relatively new condition, and is as frightening, not only for her, but for the wider family members. She is a current resident at Moundsley Hall Care Village, Kensington House, and they are the finest establishment we could have asked for. They are invested in not only the physical wellness of a resident, but also the soul aspects. I wish to thank you all, every person who has had a touchpoint with my mother, Carol, it is truly appreciated on a very deep level. A special thanks to all staff, you excel in your respective job roles.

Have been visiting Kensington House to see a family member who has dementia for some time now, and altho staff are friendly the absolute stench of urine downstairs is indescribable. When in bedroom and corridor to and from bedroom no smell, but downstairs in dining room and day rooms it is so pungent. One problem is the residents are moved when they have wet themselves but the seats are never cleaned. Witnessed many many times. There is no reason on this earth why it has to smell this bad. I appreciate the work the staff do but no excuse for the smell to be as bad. When you sign in no smell but as soon as the door into main building is opened it hits you so hard. For this reason I would not recommend this home as nobody should live with this stench.

I was very impressed with the initial visit to Moms home. On my visit they showed me two rooms which were both acceptable but the first one was lovely, big with large windows so nice and bright, everything looked clean. This for me was so important as many places I had viewed I had come out of very upset at the thought of her being in such a small place. Day one was so welcoming lots of people coming in to introduce themselves, both Mom and myself have been really impressed with the food and I visit a lot, good variety, smells and tastes delicious and good choice. Although there seems to be a lot of different staff I have always found them courtesy and willing to help and the nurses are also brilliant and helpful. As with anything there have been a few issues but the Care Manager has always sorted them really quickly and is very helpful. Only one negative the constant buzzer you would think in this high tech age something could be found, that alerts staff but residents can't hear.

My Dad has been a resident at Buckingham house since March 2025. As a family we must say that we have been really impressed with the love and care that's been shown to Dad. We're informed if he has injured himself or fallen or if he's just not quite right in himself and also when ambulances have been called we've been informed of why and where he's going. He LOVES the food. Plenty of choice. Nothing is too much trouble. The nurses and day staff are his favourite. They talk to him and have a laugh whilst doing their job. They take the time to get to know him and us as a family. If we had a wish it would be that they could take him out of his room more. Dad does need to get out. He usually says no because he doesn't want to be a pain because of assistance needed. Maybe when the weather gets better this will change. The manager is wonderful too. Any issues Dad has had we've spoken to her and she has sorted it out for him. It's lovely knowing Dad is safe and looked after. Thank you all x

I was very pleased with the quality of service given to my mother during the few months she spent at Buckingham House before her death. The worries I'd experienced about her frailty almost disappeared when she became a resident because I felt that she was in good hands with kind, caring staff and I received immediate reports if there was a matter which needed to be brought to my attention eg when she attempted to walk unaided! Measures were always put in place to avoid there being a recurrence of such behaviour. Staff also responded positively if anyone expressed a concern eg Mum struggled with cutlery and needed help to eat the lovely meals.
I enjoyed meeting the Manager when she visited Mum in hospital before she transferred to BH and also to be shown round when I went along to prepare the room prior to Mum's arrival. I was impressed with the spaciousness of the room which allowed larger equipment to be used in the area.

A friendly, pleasant atmosphere throughout all the building.

We were both made very welcome despite the discharge from hospital being later than anticipated. Buckingham House had allowed me to go and prepare my mother's room prior to her arrival. This did help to make her surroundings familiar and comfortable for her needs. Buckingham House is always, clean, warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and supportive. Everyone from the Manager, nurses, engagement and carers have worked hard to support and help my mother settle in and to assess her needs. They have made an effort to get to know her and ensured she has access to the frailty team at GP and MHT.

Although my mother is on puree food, it is well presented and she has a variety of different foods to keep her interest. The food the other residents have had looks appetizing. It has been nice to have the opportunity to have meals with my mother as that helps to create an element of normality and encourage her to eat. The charge is reasonable and I have enjoyed my meals.

Overall standard has deteriorated, no quiet room, no privacy for visitors and families with loved ones. My mother has been left in a state of undress a number of times with no odd shoes on; her shoes have disappeared. When we complained to the staff, nobody seems to know anything, as they are all agency staff. The management is never around to deal with complaints! Nobody seems to know what's going on. The overall standard of care has dropped!

My friend was placed in Buckingham House in February 2025. On first visits I was worried about his care. Cleanliness, conversation and care were not obvious. No stimulation for my intelligent friend was very worrying. Staff were not obvious and many on phones. In May, I met management with my concerns, they listened. This week I visited and there was an obvious change in atmosphere, aroma, and staff activity. My friend had a much brighter demeanour. The staff friendly and happy and genuinely engaging with residents. Instead of leaving depressed I felt my friend was in a better place. Request please - more activities and visits out.
