The last 18 months have been very challenging for everyone, but Moundsley has always done its best to look after Mom and also keep my brother and myself up to speed with what is happening. They have ensured that there is a room available for visits but also for residents such as Mom who are not getting
out of bed they allow visits to the room. The whole process is simple and straight forward which has meant we can visit Mom regularly. All of the staff are always welcoming, friendly and professional whether you talk to them in person or via the telephone and give you the confidence that they give every resident the care and respect they deserve. Particular mention for the activities coordinators who have been asked with running the visits and they are brilliant.

I think a real mark of their approach came when Mom, unfortunately, had to go to the hospital for hip pain. One of the A&E staff told me they had received calls from Moundsley to see how Mom was which they had not seen before.

Reply from Sarah Chalmers, Admissions Co-ordinator at Moundsley Hall Care VillageIt is so good to receive a positive review like this - thank you so much, it means a lot to all of our staff who work so hard.

My mother has been in this establishment since October 2019 and has been very well cared for by all the staff, and she seems very content with her surroundings.
My brothers and I cannot thank the team enough for making our Mother comfortable, clean and cared for every day. Well done and thank you to
all of you.

My father was in this establishment for 7 days before passing away.
The level of care and empathy shown by the senior management and lead nurse was appalling.
No morphine, No monitoring on a regular basis, No dignity in death.
I wish we'd never seen the place.

On behalf of my sister-in-law and myself, I would like to compliment all of the team at Moundsley Hall for their dedication and professionalism in the care, support and kindness shown towards my mother.
Mum has been in Moundsley Hall since the turn of the year and it genuinely gives the family peace
of mind to know she is being cared for so very well. Mum is 94 years old on the 12th October and even though "end of life" medication was prescribed a month or more ago, the whole of the team leave no stone unturned to make sure she is comfortable.

My mother, who is 97, has been extremely well looked after since her arrival a year ago. The care she has received has improved her physical and mental health since facing hospitalisation and terminal illness from April to August 2018. The transition from hospital to dementia care ward and onwards to
Moundsley Hall was appropriate and smooth.

Both my sister-in-law and myself are very, very pleased with the care and attention my mother has received, not just for the months mentioned, but ever since she has been a resident in Moundsley Hall. All of the staff (and I mean All!) can be very proud of themselves for the professional and caring
job they carry out. It makes life so much easier, knowing of this level of care, when I'm going about my life in general. On behalf of myself and my family - Thank you All!

Very happy with all the care they provide to my aunt. I feel she is well looked after and entertained. They monitor her health closely so even the infections she is prone to, have reduced since she became a resident. Overall, excellent management in dealing with difficult situations.
The family can
rest easy that all is being done to help my frail and much-loved aunt.

My Dad was in Buckingham House for six weeks receiving "end of life care". He was treated with kindness and dignity. The staff were attentive and really connected with him. The food that was served was of good quality and presented well. During his final hours, Dad was kept comfortable and the support
offered to him was extended to us, his family.

Our father was cared for in Buckingham House until he died on 11th May 2019. The care and kindness he received on a daily basis was of an exceptionally high standard.
He was treated with dignity and respect at all times. As a family, we were also supported. We cannot thank the staff enough and we could
highly recommend this nursing home.

My father was in Buckingham House, one of the houses in the care village. During the time that my late father was at Buckingham House, he was treated with dignity and respect. The care was faultless. The staff are genuine, friendly and respectful and take time to get to know the person as an individual.
The rooms are spaceous, airy, clean and comfortable. Dad was always clean, wearing his own clothes and content. The food, according to my Dad, was always excellent and there was always plenty. The lounge is large and has areas where you can either sit and watch TV or sit and chat in a quiet area. The care Dad recieved in his last days was exceptional and comforting both to him and us, his family.

My mother has now been a resident in Moundsley Hall for just over a month now and I visit a minimum of 3 times per week. I have been very impressed every time I visit with the level of care and attention received by all the residents. It helps me so much mentally that I can get on with my own life knowing
my mother is being taken good care of.

My mother was a resident here in Kenilworth House. She had dementia and whilst very lovely, could be difficult sometimes. The carers and nurses were always kind and considerate of her needs. I was kept informed of her health throughout and when I visited, although she did not know who I was, I could
tell she was settled and happy there.

I was allowed to personalise her room as much as I felt was needed (I would have added more items, but there was always the safety aspect to consider with someone with dementia). I could pop in whenever I felt the need (usually just to give mom a hug and sit quietly with her in her silence) and was never concerned by what I would see. Unfortunately, mom passed away this month, quietly in her sleep.

If I had any criticism it would perhaps be around the quality of the food. It was very much like school dinners of yore. More fresh vegetables?

A clean environment in lovely surroundings, carers who respect residents; a place that is safe, secure. A+

After experiences with other 'homes', Moundsley was a breath of fresh air.
The staff were outstanding, managing to combine efficiency with compassion.
Extremely approachable and polite at all times of day.
Frankly, the facilities were of lesser importance when you are employing and training such
a high quality of staff.
Thank you for helping my mother in her last week of life.

I chose the Moundsley Hall Care Village (Moundsley Hall Unit) for Mum and she moved into the home under NHS Continuing Healthcare in March 2018 for end-of-life care.
The house is set in lovely quiet grounds with trees and a duck pond.
Mum had dementia, was bed-bound with bed-sores from living at home
and had difficulty swallowing. She was cared for exceptionally well and staff looked after all her medical, nutritional and social needs. She had a special dynamic mattress and was repositioned every 2 hours, day and night. I always met with friendly, loving, sensitive and professional nursing staff, carers and management whenever I visited. They always took time to discuss any aspects with me and I knew that Mum was getting the best and individualised care that she needed.
She was treated like a queen when she celebrated her 90th birthday in August and the staff came to sing "Happy Birthday" to her. Sadly Mum died peacefully in her sleep in November 2018.

My lovely mom was a resident of Moundsley Hall nursing home for 5 years with vascular dementia and various other problems and always received very good care. However, on the 4/9/18 Mom had a stroke for which she was hospitalised, it soon became apparent that there was nothing more they could do for
her so she was sent back to Moundsley for end of life care. I cannot express in words our heartfelt gratitude and thanks for all the kindness and compassion shown by the staff to my mom in her last few weeks of life. They were so gentle while washing and changing her and made sure she was always clean and comfortable, always professional and caring. They made us feel welcome even when we wanted to stay over with Mom in her last days. Mom sadly passed away on the 7/10/18.

My wife was admitted to the Moundsley Hall Unit of the Moundsley Hall Care Village in April 2016.
As well as having mixed dementia, she is unable to walk. I visit every day and it has been a privilege to witness what is a thoroughly professional operation.
I cannot fault it.
Adequate numbers of well-trained
carers are always on hand.
Two events coordinators ensure residents are kept as active as possible.
A qualified nurse is always on duty. This nursing home must be an example of 'how it should be done.'

My Sister-in-law has lived here for the past 18 months. I was initially impressed with the cleanliness, the place smelled fresh and clean when we walked in. I am pleased to say, 18 months on, every time we visit, usually once a week it is still the same. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the
overall feeling I get when visiting is that of a comfortable, well run home.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.368)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.368) out of 10 for Moundsley Hall Care Village is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.368 for Moundsley Hall Care Village is calculated as follows: ( (153 Excellents x 5) + (84 Goods x 4) + (30 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 277 Ratings = 4.368
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moundsley Hall Care Village is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
